We had purchase a 2004 Ford Focus and we have had it for 2 years now. For the last 4 months I have notice that the car overheats well the needle will shoot up to the hot and you can hear the fan/engine whatever other components running loud as if its revving the engine. I have been scared a few times because it would also stall like its about to go off and a couple time it has while at a stop light. Wondering is this a common problem for this vehicle? the overheating happens very often it happen during a short drive or long drive like 12 to 16 miles. It also seems to do it a lot when I'm at heavy traffic and when you sit there for 3 lights turns because of the amount of cars I notice it overheats then. Also, always overheats when I go to costco to buy gas. Due to the long wait for my turn to pump gas it overheats then. It doesn't seem to matter of the weather because it has been cool in the mornings and it has done that and also done so during high noon. Have also experience it during night time. Is there a recall for this on this type of vehicle? we bought this from a private party so would like to know how we can make sure if there is a recall we would be contacted. Recently I can start the car up go one block from my driveway and the car will overheat. Very concern about the safety issue on this.

Takata recall - I have been experiencing jerking and stuttering with my vehicle since I purchased it new in 2014. My vehicle will stutter and jerk upon pressing the gas from a standstill in traffic, on a highway and it is even worse going uphill. It is slow to pick up speed no matter how much pressure I put on the gas pedal. Now there is an issue with something revving under the hood and also with the vehicle overheating. I have had several near accidents due to the vehicles jerking and stuttering when moving from a stopped position to a forward mortion in traffic. These incidents have happened over the course of five years of me purchasing the vehicle new. The stuttering and jerking happens daily.

Have a 2012 Focus se. Purchased in may of 2010. Since July of 2010, I have been taking it to the local dealership where I purchased the vehicle complaining that the car was surging, shuddering, and when I hit the gas pedal, it feels like the car stalls, gets no gas, or has trouble getting into gear. Of course, there are no known issues until a recall. Finally, the problem can be addressed. I take it in, they "fix it" it still shudders, and feels like it's going to stall out in the intersection. Next thing, my car overheats and dies at 11pm on the side of the interstate. I take to a different dealership and they say, well the clutch is bad and the cooling system is bad. Great 2012 car and two items have already went out. They change the clutch and cooling system, now when I back up, it grinds and bogs down. I have had my car for 2 years in may, 39,000 miles on it, and it's been in the shop a total of 4 times. They have changed the clutch and the cooling system. Was told the clutch needed "several hundred miles to break in" gave it about 500, still grinds when I back up, more so on an incline. Although now, it's decided it wants to studder when it starts. So it's back int eh shop for the 4th time, and I'm yet again in a rental car. I have a customer service guy through Ford, he's useless. . . I can't even get him to return a phone call. What is the point of him being there if he's not going to do his job. I don't feel that I'm getting any resolutions from the local dealerships I have dealt with, or from your customer care manager. I want a replacement vehicle. I have worked with Ford over 2 years and the vehicle is still having problems. Of course the dealership tells me this is an isolated issue. Please go to edmunds, com and you will see that this is not an isolated issue. . . There are multiple reports of the same problems that I am having.
The vehicle overheated, which was caused by a crack in the engine head and the motor mount being busted.
