1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2024

Electronic throttle body car lost power on busy, construction road manufacturer issued secret warranty to owners and did not send out notice multiple certified mechanics have inspected the vehicle check engine, abs, service advance trac, and power train lights were on and I am uncertain when they first came on.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2024

Electronic throttle body failure my car lost power going 50 mph in road construction the car had a recall and extended warranty on it from 2014-2024, I was not notified check engine light, drive shaft light, and service advance trac appeared a few weeks before the failure.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

The anti-lock brake system (abs) malfunctioned causing the brakes to give out while I was driving the vehicle. Luckily I was on a residential street and I was able to safely pull over, but it could have caused a major accident had it not happened in that location. After taking it to two auto-shops, both concluded that it was a problem with the abs system. There is an open recall for the 2010 Ford Fusion for the same exact issue (recall number: 19s54), however it does not cover the hybrid model, even though it is the same exact issue. In order to stop the vehicle, I need to press down on the brake pedal very very hard and use the emergency brake. It is not safe to drive, and it is a substantial and costly problem with the vehicle to repair. I would like my car to be part of that recall program, or at least be able to be recalled for this issue in which there is already an open recall, except not for my specific variety of the 2010 Ford Fusion. I have had to get my car towed several times in order to transport it, as again, it is not safe to drive!.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2022

While driving my 2010 Ford Fusion, on five separate occasions (two times less than a week apart) and over the last five months, while stopping for traffic lights, traffic or pedestrians the brake pedal travelled just inches from the floor and extra effort was needed in attempt to activate the brakes hoping to come to a complete stop. On two jarring instances collision was avoided only by swerving the vehicle to keep from hitting a wayward pedestrian and the other instance was with another vehicle backing out in a mall shopping center. On all five occasions there was an associated amber abs light on the dash, a sudden drop in brake pressure and severely degraded to no braking power during application. The brake fluid reservoir is appropriately filled with the manufacturer specified dot 3 brake fluid and there are no leaks in the system whatsoever. I’ve been told at the Ford dealership that my vehicle will not be able to be inspected or seen by appointment for a little over 2 months (late oct 2022). I’ve contacted Ford’s customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and they stated that my VIN# is not included in the recall: 19s54. It’s apparent that my vehicle is experiencing all of the identical issues which prompted the Ford recall 19s54. Please assist so the Ford Fusion community can resolve this issue before another catastrophic event occurs.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2021

Engine light, advance trac light, abs light, battery light, tire pressure monitoring system light, alarm light suddenly came on. Then dash went completely blank. Headlights went out, lost control of vehicle at high speed. Dash lights came back on stirring control of vehicle lost. All dash lights started flashing. Breaking system not working.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

On December 1st I was driving my Ford Fusion 2 the actual Ford dealership to get a look at their field service action that they had posted on my Ford app. While on my way I was stopped at a light on columbia drive in portland oregon and I had thought my foot slipped off the brake initially but actually would happen if my car had accelerated and to the gentleman in front of me causing a car accident. My insurance company would have nothing to do with it I tried to contact Ford the dealership that I normally go to to see if they could repair the front-end of my Ford Fusion that was demolished and also no airbags went off as I had just got my car out of the shop at Ford for a recall on the airbags my fiance was with me so there was definitely cause for concern fortunately nobody was hurt but like I said my car was demolished on the right passenger side front end I couldn't figure out why my car accelerating on its own so looking into it the explanation that I came up with was definitely the electronic throttle body motor and all I want is my car returned back to its prior condition I have no other vehicle I don't know who to contact I did contact Ford and was referred to a bigger Ford company if someone could help that would be amazing I'd appreciate it. . . Also no warnings or sensors went off in my vehicle I do have the sel package and once again no airbags were deployed and for the amount of damage that was done I was very surprised.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2020

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while her son was driving at various speeds, the vehicle loss motive power, sputtered, and stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to town and country Ford located at 7800 e. Lloyd expy, evansville, in 47715, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 68,000.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2019

Intermittently my brakes will go out, most often this happens after the vehicle has been off and I turn it off and try to reverse though it also happens when in drive. It has happens on access roads, the highway, my driveway and most often in parking lots. My car will roll and be completely unresponsive to the fact that I have my foot on the brake. The brake pedal goes soft and I can press it all the way to the floor. My brake light, abs light, etc on the dashboard all light up and my car keeps rolling. I try turning my vehicle on and off as sometimes even the emergency brake or putting the car in park will not get the vehicle to stop. I have almost hit other cars and pedestrians because of this issue and it is highly dangerous and come to find out a known glitch for some 2010 Ford Fusions.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2019

Middle of freeway driving, car deaccellerated and went into limp home mode. Safely stopped and error cleared on restart. Dealer replaced electronic throttle body, technician indicated the test graph had a spike upon testing. Likely unit of failure.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2019

I had already gotten my throttle body repaired the year before my car started jolting as if it was malfunctioning again. This time though the vehicle would jump when I tried accelerate from stop, rpms would go all the way up to 5 before switching gears and the speedometer would move up and down while electrical lights flickered. Took it to Ford and nothing was found so I got an oil change and transmission flush. That same day the car started doing it again. I took the car back to Ford they offered to clean the throttle body and returned the car the next day. Not even 24hrs after started the same problem. I took car to auto zone they immediately found an error for the camshaft position sensor. Brought car back to Ford where they had me leave it for two days for the transmission tech to look at it. They then said oil had leaked onto the sensor causing the car to drive that way. Replaced that and the head that was leaking. Car was still jolting and driving as if throttle body was messed up but worse. I brought my car back that same week they found a sensor that needed to be replaced in the transmission. This whole while I was 8-9 months pregnant and ended up spending 1200 dollars on something that should've been fixed the first timr and in my opinion a side effect from the car having a defective throttle body for so long before they allowed it to be fixed.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2019

Rapid deceleration: while driving on the freeway rapid deceleration occurred. Car slowed to about 25mph and would not accelerate when gas pedal was pushed. Exited freeway. . Turned engine off and restarted. Car operated normal. No error icons showed. About a half mile from home problem reoccurred crawled home at 10mph. Next several days problem did not reoccur. About a week later same problem reoccurred while driving home . . 10mph. Spoke to Ford service to see if they would cover repairs and they declined. Took it to my repair shop and they replaced the throttle body. $600. Very scary dangerous situation when this occurs on the freeway.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2019

Upon 9 years of age my 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid (any many others) no longer functions as a hybrid vehicle and will only use the internal combustion engine. This causes a safety concern due to the fact that the ev motor is supposed to kick in from a stop upon acceleration. This causes a significant delay in acceleration while it tries to use the ev motor but cannot due to this limitation. While at roundabouts or when making left hand turns this is a significant safety issue. Ford has done nothing to address this or even acknowledge the fact that this issue exists.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2018

While driving Fusion service down highway Sunday(12-16-18) service power steering now light came on & couldn't turn steering wheel without complications & had to get home to park car before I hit something due to steering wheel too hard to steer, car shaking, and couldn't hardly keep in lane. The service advance light also came on & both remain on & little to no control left to steer the car so car remains parked. Ford knows there are issues with this part and extremely costly repairs and part is a necessity to safely operate the car. This part should be recalled and repaired at the cost of Ford motor not their customers who seek a safe car to transport themselves and their families in.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2018

I bought the car used the end of July 2018 for my daughter to drive. She informed me today that from time to time it as if the car stalls out when driving it or when she tries to accelerate. I did some research online just a few minutes ago and found that this is a common problem. . Read more...

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle would not accelerate and lost motive power. The vehicle was cut off and restarted and drove normal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer: cloninger Ford 1241 us hwy 70 se, hickory, nc 28602 who could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,00. Hk.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2018

April 30, 2018 after driving for 3 hours on the highway at appr. 75 to 80 mph the dash lights went haywire, flickering and then the service advancetrac warning came d. I was able to drive it to my exit and drive slowly. I could stop and go very slow. After a mile or 2 the batter light and all the lights came on and the brake light warning light came on. I could feel the car loosing power so I pulled over. At this time it was also chiming that the cross fault system was not available. After turning the car off, it would not start, the radio would play, lights would work and hazards would work . The steering was hard to turn the car was towed to a mechanic shop and I am awaiting a diagnosis. Earlier on April 16, I received a letter from Ford stating they would no longer host the vehicle health report system.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2018

The wrench light come on and I lost acceleration. Very hazardous situation. The throttle body needs replacing. This should be a recall.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2018

While driving my vehicle the service advancetrac warning light came on. My vehicle would not accelerate appropriately and then would not be in gear. I have taken it to the dealer and they replaced sensors etc. They have identified that the steering rack and pinion will need to be replaced. When I researched this I found that this is a common issue for this vehicle and that a recall had in fact been instituted for 2011 and newer models. This is a problem in vehicles from 2010 as well. There is no reason owners of 2010 models should have to pay the expense to fix this dangerous vehicle failure when new model owners do not. The part itself (for aftermarket) costs $1000.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2017

My car while I was driving had an issue where it decelerated on its own and there was no gas pedal. . . . Throwing a throttle actuator ccontrol system code saying was stuck open. . . This has happened a couple times now but code cleared before could look at. . . Took to les stumpf Ford they are telling me they can't do anything til the code stasys on for therm to test. . . . So I am supposed to drive an unsafe vehicle for a known prooblem that the company was sued about and created a customer satisfaction extended warranty instead of recalling it until it does it again. . . . And I am at about 142000 and only covers til 150000.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2017

Driving. . . Speed all of a sudden dropped to around 2 mph. . . Would go no faster. . . . Yellow wrench light appeared on instrument panel along with check engine soon light, if I had been in traffic there could have been a fatal accident. . . By all indications . . . The throttle body is the cause of the problem. . Read various reports of other 2010 Ford Fusion owners with the identical problem. . . This is a very serious and dangerous problem that needs to be addressed without delay. . .

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2017

On may 25, 2017 I pulled into a parking lot over a speed bump and rounded a building pulling into a parking space. From the speed bump to the parking space the slow speed is perfect for pulling in the space. I was braking to a stop when my car lurched forward only stopping when it struck the building. My foot was on the brake the entire time, as witnessed by my passenger. I'm 4'10" tall and unlike putting my foot on the brake, I have to stretch to reach the accelerator - so there is no mistaking the two. This was the first time we had ever experienced a lurching action in our Fusion. We had experienced this action in our freestyle and have managed to solve the problem in that vehicle, but this was the first and last time time it happened in the Fusion. The previous owner mentioned a rare transmission "hiccup" his mechanic could never find. We had been driving the Fusion since October 2016 and it drove beautifully.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2017

While driving, the throttle body valve malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to rapidly lose power and go into an engine "safe mode. " the check engine light appeared on the dash. I was luckily able to pull over to the side of the road. Restarting the vehicle cleared the error, but the issue continued to recur until I was able to get home. Luckily the sudden loss of power did not cause an incident, but as it occurred on the highway, a sudden drop in speed could have posed a safety risk, especially if it had occurred in inclement weather. There was a recall for the specific part that failed, but due to my model being a hybrid, it was not included even though it contained the exact faulty component. Speaking with Ford customer care confirmed this to be the case that my specific car was not included in the recall. I was able to order the replacement part myself and perform the repair. The error message that was thrown in the car's obd system was: p2112 "throttle actuator control system - stuck closed" the code was not saved in the module so it could only be read at the time the issue was actively occurring before the vehicle was turned off.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2017

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light, the wrench warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle did not accelerate. The vehicle was idling. When the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, it resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle did not qualify for the warranty extension. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2016

This instance vehicle going steady 35mph and started revving rpm's up like it was going to shift into another gear, it then slammed and jerked the car and started the revving again. Stopped at a stop light and and turned left, while turning and hitting accelerator the car did not want to move and started revving again and then slammed and jerked almost making the person behind me rear end me. Previous instance was a steady 75 mph on the flat highway and the same revving and slam/jerking had happened. 5th time it's done it this year alone. 13 times since 2011. This instance the orange wrench light came on the dash. Car is at dealership to get looked at. This is very unsafe especially since it is erratic and does it at any time it feels like. This car is not safe to have my family in.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2016

My vehicle has the tendency of reducing acceleration, when you are driving at a speed of 35 or above the car will slow down and almost come to a complete stop. If you are in the fast lane and your car will not accelerate what can you do if there is lots of traffic behind you, this will definitely cause an accident because you have no where to go and cars are right up on you. This is an accident waiting to happen. This problem has happened to me 4 times when I was on just the streets and not the highway, I was going 45 mph and all of a sudden my car loses speed and it went all the way down and no matter how much I tried to accelerate it would not go any faster, so I coasted over to the side of the road and turned the engine off and called my son to meet me because I didn't know if it would start again. It did but the engine light stayed on. I started driving it again and it did the same thing. I got a little closer to home and pulled over to this exxon gas station; sit there until my son came and he started it again and he followed me home. A few days later it did it again; it has done this 4 times even this morning on my way to the Ford dealership whom I thought was going to fix the problem but wanted me to pay them $115 out of pocket for a diagnostic that I should not be paying anything that is their mistake or mess up. I will see if I can round up enough complaints for a class action lawsuit, because why would I have to pay for something that's their fault when the car was built.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2016

Several months ago, in the middle of a busy intersection, my car unexpectedly shook and went to "limp" mode in the middle of a busy intersection with the wrench light coming on. I pulled into the closest driveway after putting on my hazards and, after turning off the engine, restarted the car, which took about about 5 seconds of trying to turn over the ignition. Since that time, the same problem has happened at least two dozen times, sometimes several times in a row; and the rest of the time, the rpms flutter in an irregular way. I do mostly city driving and have thankfully been able to avoid an accident when having to pull over and restart; but in each case, it is not a good situation. By all accounts online, this is a very frequent problem and due to a faulty throttle body. Notably, the problem with my car began to occur at around 45,000 miles, which is typical from what I've read of other complaints. This seems much too early, much too common, and much too dangerous of a problem for it not to be covered under an extended warranty or recall. There was, in fact, an extended warranty, but it expired in early 2015. I was told by the local dealer that it would cost $600 to repair.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2016

Takata recall- my car stalls and doesnt turn all the way. If I slow down or stop the car will give out I got a diagnostic done three times and three different things came up and I got all the fix but it still do the same thing I see other people that have the same car have the same problem I was on the expressway when this did this this is very dangerous.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2016

On 6/2/15 while driving on freeway at 70 mph, car started shaking, speed dropped, couldn't accelerate. I was able to get car to side of road. Shut car off. After few minutes started car and was able to drive it at 25 mph to get it off fwy but was operating in low power mode. Drove it to dealer in low power mode. Throttle body was replaced and covered under Ford recall. Now on 8/19/16 the same thing happened to me on way to work. Again had my husband follow me to dealer in low power mode. Dealer could not diagnose problem because car was not having problem by the time they got around to it. They couldn't duplicate problem so nothing they could do. This is the same thing that happened to me 1 year ago so I feel it is related to the throttle body which they replaced under Fords recall, but they insist it is not the throttle body. This is a very serious safety issue which Ford knows about it because there are hundreds of complaints online for this issue. Does someone have to be seriously hurt for them to do something about this. I have never in my life had this happen with any other cars I have owned over the years.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2016

While driving, the vehicle will stall, the orange wrench comes on on the dash board. The car will remain running while idling roughly. After restarting the car a few times it will start and appear fine with no symptoms and no check engine lights on. However, the car will do the exact same thing randomly, it might be the next day or an hour from then. I checked the code while the orange wrench light was on and got a p2111 code (throttle actuator control system). Called Ford to have them repair it since it is under warranty, and I was told that since the orange wrench light isn't on right this moment, that they will have to try test driving it longer to get it to act up before Ford will allow them to replace it. The vehicle is at the dealership now.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2016

Sudden stalling or acceleration. Engine light comes on and off depending on how many times I start the car. My car stalled out and died I waited five minutes and restarted it and it seemed fine. This has happened twice. Now my car suddenly stalls and I have no control on the throttle. When I give it gas it just creeps along. Limp home mode. I was in otion on a city street and barely had enough control to get over on a side street safely with my child in the car.

31 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2016

My son was driving on the interstate when all of a sudden the car lost power and he could not accelerate. He had to cross lanes to pull over to the shoulder. Turned the car off and then restarted. Car ran okay. I called Ford after this happened twice. They informed me that the car was over the mileage allowed and was not covered. They said they sent out a csp#13n03. I did not receive this letter. I think that this should be a safety recall and not just a bulletin. He almost got hit both times when this happened.

32 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2016

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While the vehicle was stopped at an intersection, it lost power while attempting to accelerate. The vehicle rolled as if it were shifted into neutral. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body assembly failed and needed to replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,180.

33 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2016

Will approaching a stop light on goddard and fort st. Car accelerated while my foot was on the brake started across fort st against red light while I wash playing dodgem card only way to stop car was to slam it in park and turn it off this is the second time this has happened the first time I started car and motor racing turned off to stop.

34 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2016

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving 68 mph, the vehicle lost acceleration intermittently and a repair service light illuminated. The contact pulled over, shut off, and restarted the vehicle. The service engine soon light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2015

I was affected by the throttle body thing. I got it fixed at jim click Ford in tucson. I've been experiencing heavy acceleration and throttle response problems since. I had my trams fluid leak from the cap. No leaks in any of my hoses. My rpms stay between 1700-2700 regardless of what speed I'm going. I took it back to jim click, even tho showing no errors. And it's always whining, my engine. I don't know what's causing this, but I definitely take care of my car. And Fusions been having a lot of problems. And people tell my my car makes really loud noise when turning. I've never heard it or felt it, but I've been told by multiple people.
