Dear sirs, my vehicle suddenly showed "power steering assist fault" while I driving on the street. And steering column locked. I immediately slow down and pullover the roadside. After this, steering column can be turned, but very hard and only within a narrow angle. Therefore I go online to check, and found out my Ford Fusion 2011 should be under "NHTSA safety recall no. 15v340000 - loss of electric power steering assist. (power steering control module (pscm) failed)" please check my VIN 3fahp0ha9br118102, it should be under "Ford's recall list". Thanks for your help and hope can get your reply soon!.

1. Takata recall- air bag: air bag sensor or light goes blinking for 30 mins or more than it switches to the panel light and stays there lit up. . 2. Steering column-stiff and grinding noise: when it drives backward reverse it makes that noise and when on the road it begins to make loud noise, then the steering gets hard to steer. 3. Ac coolant does not blow cold air: does not get cold and blows out warm air only.
In may 2014 Ford recalled 900,000+ vehicles due to an issue with the power steering torque sensor. It affected escape, mariner, and explorer models (including model year 2011 on all vehicles). I have a 2011 Ford Fusion and my vehicle has had the same issue several times. Around five times when I've put my car in reverse the power steering has gone out. The first three times it happened there were no lights or anything that prompted me there was an issue. I put the car in park, shut it off and restarted it and then the power steering was back working. The next time it happened, the warning message board on the dash showed a message that said "power steering default". I took the car to the dealer and they said it would cost $1,800 to fix as the torque sensor code appeared in their diagnostic test. The entire steering column needed to be replaced. I've contacted Ford and told them I'm having the same issue as the recalled vehicles; however, they said that because the issue isn't prevalent in my model and year vehicle that they'll just look into a "goodwill" discount on the repair. I've asked them to replace the steering column at no charge which they won't do which confuses me as I'm certain the technology they use in all their vehicles is similar, if not the same, and thus if they fixed the issue in other cars they should fix it for me as well at no cost. I'm now waiting to hear back from Ford or my dealer as to what discount they'll offer off the total repair cost - this however doesn't seem right to me so I'm contacting NHTSA in hopes they can provide some assistance.
2011 Ford Fusion sel, 26k miles: power steering assist fault locked up my vehicle on a main road, sending myself and my little sister into oncoming traffic during our commute home. Now my car has no power steering, and I'm left trying to comprehend just how lucky we are to be alive. There have been recalls on the 2011 Ford escape for the exact same problem I am facing. As I understand it, the power steering assembly/module is the same, if not extremely similar to that in my vehicle. It's time someone added a recall for the 2011 Ford Fusion to the recall list of faulty power steering columns. . . Before someone like my little sister gets hurt. I sincerely hope whoever ends up reading this takes it upon his/herself to protect those of us who still invest our money and well-being with Ford products. -thomas h. Jones.
