Failure Date: 06/22/2021

The shifter cable comes off. Now it's permanently broken off. Why is Ford using a cheap plastic bushing that degrades rather quickly? I was sitting in a local restaurant's drive-thru line, I put my car in park so the torque converter is not actually spinning while the car is idling still. When the line moves up, I place the car in drive and I get no movement. I pop my hood in the middle of a busy drive-thru line only to see my transmission cable is no longer connected to the transmission itself to even move. ,.

26 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/15/2012

I bought the car with 12000 miles on it and under warranty. At 12750 miles the transmission began to flare from 2nd to 3rd gear and 4th to 5th gear. I took it to the dealer and the transmission was reprogrammed and I was told to drive it apx. 250 miles and it would correct itself. At 13150 miles the problem was worse than before so I took it back in. The dealer checked it and said nothing was wrong and that the cold transmission flare was" normal". I know that the transmission was not designed to flare until it gets warm. After viewing several hundred complaints on line, all for the same problem, it seems you would required Ford to fix this problem. It is a big time safety hazard when the car looses power and forward motion in traffic. This defect is a major accident and probably deaths waiting to happen. Please do something to help all of us since it is evident that Ford does not care and will not take it on it's to fix the problem or stand behind their product.

27 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/30/2011

The automatic transmission in my 2010 Fusion se shifts erratically in the low gears. The vehicle is still under warranty so I took it to the Ford stealership. I had pulled the transmission dipstick and noticed that the fluid was greyish black colored. They told me that the fluid was supposed to be that color. I asked them to get a brand new quart of the mercon lv fluid, and proved it was a dark red. I talked them in to replacing the transmission fluid for free. I swear the dealerships lie through their teeth to keep from doing anything for free under warranty. The vehicle still shifts funny; in the first two gears it feels like it slips even though it really isn't slipping. Its just a choppy shift of gears. They said the way it shifts is normal, however, when I asked them to put that in writing and sign it, they wouldn't do it. The response was "it has a 60k mile power train warranty. " way to change the subject! appears to me that Ford and its crooked dealerships are quick to sell you a car, but slow to take care of you after the sale. (if they take care of you at all that is. ) I think mike rowe should tell people this on the Ford tv commercials.

28 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/27/2011

Throttle body went bad on my 2010 Ford Fusion v6 after only having 45,000 miles on it. On vehicle not even 2 years old; a part this important shouldn't fail.

30 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/26/2011

The wrech warning light comes on in my 2010 Ford Fusion most of the time it is after it has been driven for awhile then shut off and restarted soon after but yesterday it happened as I was driving the car loses power will only go about 35 mph no matter how far you push the accrelartor when trying to ascend a steep hilll it would only go 10 miles per hour.

31 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/25/2011

While driving on the highway, my car suddenly slipped gears on its own and started to slow down and the wrench light was illuminated. I was nearly rear ended and I had my children in the car with me. I managed to make it to the emergency lane and at that point the car thrusted forward and jerked. I put it in park and turned it off and back on and light was gone. The next day while driving to work on highway again, same problem. I took it to local Ford that evening only to get a phone call that they cant duplicate the problem. I told them of the numerous complaints I found online about this problem and that I didnt feel safe leaving the lot. They said they havent heard of any complaints nor any tsbs on this car! I sent them a link to this website and told them to read it. Currently they have not called me back with an answer. I bought this car with about 25,000 miles on it 3 months ago and currently I am at 29,700. I surely didnt expect to have a major issue like this. I own another Ford which has lasted well over 200k miles but I have never been placed in danger with any vehicle like this. The dealerership told me when the car does that it goes into limp mode for "safety' reasons. I dont see how safe that can be if you cause a pile up on the freeway. My question I am waiting to ask them is even if they drove my car and got the same issue, if the read out on machine doesnt tell them whats wrong, how are they to fix it? will they still say nothing was wrong becasue they computer can't duplicate it? or do they think I like being without a vehicle and wasting everyones time?.

32 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/24/2011

06 Ford Fusion doesn't shift - I was travelling with my daughter from nv to az. After having driven 2 hours I exited the highway, stopped at a stop sign and was able to travel approximately a 100 feet when out of no where the engine revved up to 5000 rpms and stopped moving. The vehicles behind me were caught off guard because of my sudden stop in the middle of the road. I tried pushing the gas pedal to get us to the roadside before being rear-ended. The engine kept revving up and creeping toward the side. I pulled to the side of the road to let the cars behind me pass and waited 5 minutes before deciding I was not going to have my daughter and I in the middle of the night stranded on the side of the road. I pushed the gas pedal and got the car to very slowly excelerate and move without shifting but catching speed. Once the car was moving at 60 mph there weren't any problems, but if I had to slow down or come to a stop the car would take forever to begin catching speed. I was able to get us to a safe place 25 mins away and parked the car until the next day. Because it was a small town and a Saturday there were no mechanics available until Monday. I had to stay the weekend waiting for a mechanic. While waiting I did a google search and discovered the horrifying fact that Ford is fully aware of this issue caused by them purchasing transmissions with faulty valve's. I am a single mother and it is unbelievable to me that Ford can get away with selling a faulty product. I am taking my car to a transmission mechanic that was referred by a friend where I am going to determine if this issue can even be fixed. I only have 10 payments left on the car and am dumbfounded that I might have to spend 1/2 of what I owe on the car to fix a problem that Ford caused. What does it take to get a recall like they did with the 2010 Fusions?.

33 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/09/2011

Automatic transmission shifting is unpredictable. 1-2 and 2-3 gear shift will rev at high rpm and slam into gear. Merging into traffic or at any intersection where cross traffic does not stop is very dangerous as acceleration is non-existent until it slams hard into gear. The car has done this from 1st week of ownership. Besides safety issue, the transmission at this rate will not last long. This issue is mainly present when 1) cold or 2) after the car has sit for a couple days making it difficult for the dealer to act on anything. This is a very well known problem with 2010 Ford Fusions and now many people are complaining of this issue with the 2011 Fusion (not the sport model as it uses different transmission).

34 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

The transmission seized while travelling at 60 miles per hour, causing rapid deceleration while on highway. Shortly after coming to a stop on the side of the road, the transmissdion failed to engage, despite engine running.

35 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/10/2011

I bought my 2010 Ford Fusion approximately 18 months ago, have had the transmission broken down, rebuilt reprogrammed and am now being told they can find nothing wrong with my car. However, seeing how I am the one who has narrowly escaped several highly dangerous collisions on both streets and highways I find it really hard to believe nothing is wrong with my transmission. While driving the transmission will get stuck while shifting from one gear to the next, usually but not limited to 2nd, 3rd & 4th gear and will sometime slip gears when transitioning from reverse to drive. I have taken my car in four times now and am continually told they can find nothing wrong with the transmission. These highly dangerous transmission misfires happen every day I drive my car, no matter the driving condition.
