77k miles, shift system fault while vehicle in use, trying to change from reverse to drive on a downtown city street. Gear selector knob returns to park from selecting reverse, or drive. Ford Fusion is not operable and had to be towed. Reviewed previous incident reports for 2017 model identifying plastic bushing holding the shift link cable to the transmission failing. Ford Fusion model 2016 and earlier recalls for the same plastic bushing failure, along with my wife's 2014 Ford escape having a recall for the same plastic bushing. Why does this defective plastic bushing remain in use after years of recalls?.

Transmission failure due to inside bushing wearing out and damaging axle at 58,328 miles last week. We purchased this car new in 2010 and have taken good care of it. Check engine light went on. Last week and our mechanic discovered the damage during a routine oil change/maintenance check up. Transmission and axle have to be replaced at $4300. Ford company seems to be "aware" of this problem and nothing has been done. Should be a recall and fall under the lemon law due to the number of complaints of transmission failure in the Fusions and this is dangerous and expensive, to say the least. We are not the only ones to have this problem. Not happy with Ford motor company. Doesn't fall under warranty even though we have less than 60,000 miles on it because we have had it longer than five years. Also local Ford dealership charges $100 just to do a check engine light test. The independent mechanics in town charge nothing.

Recently, while traveling from chicago, IL to las vegas nevada, I experienced mechanical issues with my 2015 Ford Fusion. The car broke down in las vegas, nevada, where I took it to a local repair shop, due to the closeness of the where it broke down. The repair shop stated that they would need a few days to diagnose the vehicle. Unfortunately, I had no more days to stay in vegas, as I needed to return home. Thus, I flew back to chicago, and left my car in las vegas, nevada in the care of the repair shop for testing and diagnosis and repair. The repair shop called and stated that my car needed a new transmission. This befuddled me, as my car was just barely two years old and has low mileage. Upon doing some research, I found that Ford Fusions from 2013-2016 have known mechanical issues with the transmission and many have already been recalled. I called the Ford corporate office after the repair shop advised that the transmission needed replacing. I was advised to have the vehicle towed to a Ford dealership. I had the car towed to friendly Ford, where I am waiting for the diagnosis to be completed. However, I was already advised that if in fact the transmission needs to be replaced, it would be take approximately 4-6 weeks to be completed. This presents a tremendous inconvenience to me, as I am in chicago and my vehicle is 1800 miles away from me, essentially useless to my day to day activities which include school, work, doctors appointment etc. I am a full-time student, and work full time. Unfortunately, recently I have become very ill and have had to catch rides to my various doctors appointments. Getting around has been significantly challenging with no vehicle. I believe that Ford knew that there were transmission failures on and failed to recall all of them to save money, and avoid expensive repair costs on poorly.

When I was leasing this vehicle the power steering system assault light started coming on then piwer steering stopped working and I had no power steering at all. My transmission also failed. Ford dealer refused to fix it because I was over the lease mileage. I was sent home with the car without power steering and in need of transmission replacement. The mechanic told me to pay the 3. 000 to fix it because I was risking my life. The manager said there was nothing he could do under the lease warranty. But it was a lease and I did not have the money for repairs. I later discovered 5 recalls for the car. I was only notified of two, steering and transmission. This was in the past few months when I no longer have the car. . Accidents occurred before the steering completely failed. Both involved the car moving without accelerating. It was on a town street at a light both times. I was behind another car both times as well. My car insurance has gone up because of these accidents and I have severe back pain from driving all those months with no power steering. But I had no choice as a single mother working many different locations requiring daily travel. Also, I have to look back for the correct date of when I brought the car for service and was refused repairs by the Ford dealership mechanic department where I leased it, even though the issues were car defects. Therefore, I entered January of 2017, since it was either during 2016 or beginning of 2017 that these issues surfaced. Also, one of these accidents where the car moved without accelerating did mot involve a police report, only the exchange of insurance information. The car speed is not saving in the box below. I was coming to a stop in one accident and was stopped completely during another. This is my best recall of the information.
There is delay is gear, harsh shifting from park and also while driving. Ford dealership fails to service airbag recall and throttle bottle recall. Ford says f635 transmission is service-free and transmission fluid doesn't need replaced until 150k miles. At 140k now, my car's transmission is failing completely. Ever since first owning the Fusion, the car has rough and delayed shifting through park-reverse-neutral-drive-low and through drive gears 1-6. Quite dangerous to have this occur when driving highway speeds through mountains. Ford is a criminal company - I want them to buy this junk of a car back from me. Absolute garbage company and garbage car.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. While driving 15 mph, the vehicle hesitated and lost power when coming to a stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that oil was leaking from the front driver side axle into the transmission, which was causing the transmission to fail. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. The VIN was not available.
The automatic car shifted into reverse when coming to a stop all on its own. This happened on a country roud it did this three times before the transmission failed. One of the four occupants back was sprained and did not seek immediate medical attention but still may have to.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving 25 mph, the transmission failed to shift into second gear and the engine reduced power and check engine warning lights illuminated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was recently repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 15v793000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 123,000.
Advance steering service light came on, once I stopped and restarted the car had no power steering. I let the car die and let it reset itself (battery disconnected) and put it back together still no steering went to a shop they saw 2 codes one was to due with the electronic steering the other was transmission failure due to the the steering code issue.
Transmissions are going out on these cars between 2006-2010. Which will leave people stranded in the road way which could become a hazard. The reason for this issue is because Ford put a defective program in the computer for the transmission which causes the transmission to fail. I would appreciate if the issue was looked in to thank you.

When speeding up to pass someone on the highway the car reved up to almost 6k rpm and jerked violently into the next gear. The wrench light came on shortly after and the car was parked. The next morning the light was off until a short trip to the mechanic for diagnosis. The mechanic diagnosed the car and got 2 error codes. Both showing transmission failure.
Tl the contact owned a 2012 Ford Fusion. While driving in first and second gears, the vehicle violently hesitated and vibrated. The vehicle was taken to parkway Ford north (3150 university pkwy, winston-salem, nc 27105, (877) 836-4271) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. The contact stated that the transmission was repaired twice due to the same failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 149,000.
Leaving from work on Friday afternoon, my 2010 Ford Fusion lost power as I pull out of the parking lot, it slowed down and I lose ability to accelerate. The wrench indicator on the dash is lit which indicates throttle/transmission failure. The engine was vibrating bad and the engine would not rev up. I roll into a parking lot and shut the engine off. I restarted the engine after a minute and it ran fine. This happens two more times in 30 minutes on my way to the dealer. They knew exactly what the problem was they said it is a very common problem with this car. I was luckily to not get rear ended the 3 times in 30 minutes it lost power. The dealer says it is not covered under warranty. That's stupid that Ford would not cover the cost to fix their mechanical defects, this is a design defect as there are many complaints filed for this defect. This should be part of the powertrain warranty. Looks like no 2013 f-150 is in my future plans since I was going the buy one. Do the right thing Ford.
This morning I'm in my 2010 Ford Fusion traveling about 50 mph and all of a sudden I start to slow down and I lose ability to accelerate. The wrench indicator on the dash is lit which indicates throttle/transmission failure. I roll into a parking lot and shut the car. Turn it back on after a minute and it runs fine. Later in the day on my way home from work the same thing happens. This seems to be a very common problem and Ford needs to do something. I'm reading this is not covered under warranty. That's doesn't seem very fair since its clear this is something that's happening to lots of owners. It can't be a coincidence and it must be something defective in the build. They can word it however they want but something that causes you to lose "power" I would think is part of the powertrain warranty. Do the right thing Ford. .
The transmission fails to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear at the proper time which results in the car stuttering later as the problem worsens the car starts hesitating to accelerate and then hard shifts which jolts the car. This problem progressively gets worse with incidents becoming more frequent and with harsher jolt that feel like your car is being rear ended. Permanent damage will occur. Since the problem occurs at lower speeds it could be hazardous when pulling on to the road from a parking lot or crossing the road to and home or place of business and when accelerating from a stop light.
Transmission is acting very erratic. The transmission "flares" causing rpms to go up quickly regardless of throttle position. It also shudders while driving highway speeds, almost as if searching between gears while maintaining a steady speed. Also, it shifts very roughly, comparable to an inexperienced driver operating a manual transmission, and these abrupt shifts cause the car to want to accelerate. I have heard reports of people having the transmission completely fail while cruising at highway speeds, and being a father of two little ones, want to see to it this problem gets fixed. Ford denies there are any problems, yet a bit of research shows there are multiple lemon law suits against the 2010 Ford Fusion. I have not yet taken it to a dealership as I have heard there really is no solution to the problems, and those who have have not seen any improvement. In fact, many have reported complete transmission failure from the so-called "fixes".
Initially took vehicle to dealer for transmission rough shifting. Tech was unable to find cause and trouble report was left "open" since we wouldn't sign as satisfactorily completed. Second incident was identical to first. Years passed by as we learned to live with the rough shifting. More recently, on interstate highway, car lost power, would only accelerate to 50mph with rpm at 6,000. Ford scanned, concluded transmission needs repaired soon. Last evening, my wife was returning from work, the Fusion quickly decelerated to 15-20 mph on open highway. A semi nearly struck her car from behind due to this quick change of speeds, which nearly caused several other collisions. Local auto parts stated code causing engine light to illuminate is 'throttle body' problems, a code (warranty) 'missed' by the Ford dealership. This car has lived an easy life, only 59k miles, very conservative driver and driven on level, paved, mostly interstate highways. The car was properly maintained and bought new from the lot. Please help us, and the public who prefer to purchase american-made autos, to insure that the 'power down' mode of this transmission is addressed, and is a high priority item. Additionally, please reconsider a recall on these transmissions. It is a very costly repair, and a very significant one to our modest income. A transmission failure at 59k miles is unacceptable.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact was driving approximately 40 mph and attempting a right turn when the transmission exhibited a hesitation and began jerking abnormally. The rpm gauge displayed an extremely low reading. The vehicle was driven to the side of the road. After waiting a few moments, the vehicle resumed at a low speed without experiencing the previous failures. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the complete brake system was replaced. The failure continued to occur. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for inspection. The failure was related to the transmission and the technician detected the that the gears were sticking. The vehicle was taken to an independent transmission shop for a second opinion where they stated the same diagnosis as mentioned by the dealer. The contact was waiting upon a response from the manufacturer regarding the transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
Transmission fails to respond mostly during shifts in the range from 2nd to 5th gear. The car fails to accelerate, transmission/engine winds and become useless until you let the car return to first gear. This doesn't allow for proper passing maneuvers. The transmission also clanks when downshifting.
Transmission failed without warning at 67,000 miles upon entering highway where acceleration is required. Unable to get to speed consistent with highway traffic. Automobile is Ford Fusion, 2006.
We were trapped on an interstate out of state after flat towing per Ford's specs and Ford's recommendations. Transmission failed. Had to trailer Fusion home after dealer said it would be six days before one was available. Transmission was replaced. Was trapped on interstate a second time on 5/23/12 while flat towing, the 2nd transmission failed. This transmission had 15,707 miles on it. It was obvious that this transmission was not made for flat towing. We asked Ford customer service to buy back the Fusion since the only reason we bought it was they recommended it for flat towing. They refused. On 4/25/13 I took the Fusion in to check fluid level for flat towing and with only about 8000 miles on fluid since 2nd replacement the report recommended the transmission be flushed and refilled because the fluid was burnt. Ford would not pay for it even though I had an extended warranty and my car only had 24215 mi. The service writer told me not to flush and refill with only 8000 mi on the fluid even though that was the main reason I went in. I heard Ford was working with remco and had developed a transmission cooler that they were installing to keep these transmissions from failing but the dealer knew nothing about this. Ford seems happy to have customers trapped on dangerous freeways and then continue to replace the transmissions at the inconvenience and danger to the occupants of the Fusion. Many consumers with this 6f35 transmission have had many experiences like ours as evidenced on the internet (Ford forum). Please help.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion sel. While driving approximately 45 mph on a hill, the transmission failed and the contact was unable to change gears. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the contact was advised that the transmission would need to be replaced. The failure and current mileages were 6,005.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving at speeds of 40 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle would exhibit transmission failures. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but there were no repairs made to the vehicle. The VIN was not available when the complaint was filed. The failure and current mileages were 12,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. When accelerating uphill, the vehicle rolled backwards. As a consequence, his risk for a vehicle crash was increased. The vehicle has not been inspected to determine the cause of the failure; however, he is concerned that the transmission has failed. The failure and current mileages were 200.
