Ford Fusion owners have reported 28 problems related to radio/tape cd player (under the equipment category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Ford Fusion based on all problems reported for the Fusion.
Vehicle was purchased brand new and within 9 months the motherboard crashed and had to be replaced. Since that, the car has turned off while stopped at a stoplight (vehicle was in drive and at complete stop), bluetooth does not connect at times, radio turns on and off, ac/heat turn on and off and the display blinks. There is a noise in the floorboard where the motherboard was replaced and was told there is nothing they can do about it and there are no issues with the system. A recall was issued for lug nuts in 2019 and all were replaced. When asked if they could be replaced with a different type, was told no, they would be replaced with the same ones - that were recalled. Since the replacement, those lug nuts have swelled and had to be taken to the dealership for removal. 3 were unable to removed and was told there was nothing more they could do.

In the summer of last year 2018 I was in a store shopping came out cranked my car, the air would not come on and the windows would not roll down. It was in the 90's that day and even hotter inside my car! the vehicle was stationary at the time in the parking lot. It had this problem the rest of the summer while the temperatures outside was hot. It is April 2019 and just a few days ago we had a warm day around 75 degrees. I left for work stopped at the end of my driveway had the car in park and left my door open while I got the mail. Got back in and again did not have air and could not roll the windows down. Every time this happens the radio will not work either. Last year during the time the air and windows were not working my battery was dead when I was going to go to work one morning. Took it out and went and had it tested at local auto parts store. They said they had never seen a battery that they couldn't read like that before. It's like the battery was fried. Along with those problems last year my car was stationary at home in my driveway and I went to get in my car and my doors were locked I tried the remote and the keyless entry and nothing would unlock my doors. So I had no access to get into my car. A few days later I tried again and it unlocked. I've also came home a couple times at night in the past week and noticed the inside lights where the air/heat & radio controls are is flashing on and off and the outside ground lights under the mirrors on the driver and passenger door are on. I had to unhook battery. No keys in ignition and car is stationary in my driveway. I think this is a major safety issue when you have no air and you can't roll down your windows in hot weather and also when you get locked out of your car. The car is definitely not drivable in hot weather! unknown cause, may possibly be something in the computer or wiring of the car.

Takata recall. Sync system quits working, tries to restart but doesnt. Rear back-up camera is inoperable with this condition as well as any entertainment (radio, cd, sirius, etc. ) & navigation. Upon search of internet it is a wide spread issue they are aware of and making consumers pay for known widespread issue.
Ac controls, window controls, door locks not working. . Getting "temporarily lost communication with the climate system" error. . . A/c wont work, I'm unable to open windows, unable to lock doors, or control radio functions. . .
My car windows will go up and then automatic come back down. The radio switchs channels on its own. The car stalls out and won't start. This has happen and gotten repaired more than 6 times in the last 1. 5 years. It has happened again this pass weekend. My local Ford dealership is going to fix again. As of now I am paying for a car that Ford keeps saying does not fit under the maryland lemon law. This car clearly has some serious electrical issues that Ford does not even understand. I am putting the latest date on it, but it has happen multiple times in the last year and a half. These problems occur while driving or stopped at a light or parked.
I put car in park. When I restarted the car I could not move the shifter. Looked at car display and it said car not in gear. The digital read out showed car in park. I had it towed to dealership for repair. They said gear cable was broken. Cost me $585 to repair. Gear on the radio that trucks and SUV being recalled for same issue at no cost. Why was the Fusion left offf this recall?.
I was driving my car at 35mph when the tire pressure monitor fault light suddenly came on, I thought I would have deflated or struck a tire, just park my car thinking that the next day I would fix it, but it turned out there was not tire deflated and the next morning was not only that problem but also none of the controls (fobs) to open my car worked, I went to where I bought the tires to be inspected and I checked the sensors, but everything was fine and they advised me to go to the Ford dealer, where they quoted me almost 2 weeks after the incident, the dealer took 2 days to deliver my car because they forgot to talk to me. Once I went by my car they told me the result of the diagnosis and that the problem was there was no communication between the bcm and the rtm; bcm is the part where the fuses are and the rtm is the radio transmitter module, and what I have to buy is the rtm which would cost $ 945. 83, I want to clarify that with my radio I have no problem so I I told the person who was there . . . Why if it was not a problem for lack of maintenance of my part and I do not have problems with my radio or my tires or sensors, because I have to pay as much money for something that is internal and for a car with less than 5 years of existence . . . This person only told me that for that you should buy more guarantee but I feel it is unfair because I am still paying the car, and not for lack of maintenance on my part and are pieces that maybe they use of poor quality . . I hope they help me or advise me then nor the alarm of my car can activate, anyway I will fix it but I feel that it is a lot of money that I should not pay. And at the beginning I am already paying for the diagnosis and its bad service.

I tried entering my car after church and the windows would not go down, radio would not turn on, locks would not work (car was just unlocked even though I used my key prior to lock it), and the air/heat controls would not work. The last couple of days in michigan have been quite hot but this day it was close to 93 degrees and it felt like a sauna in my car. I have two young kids that I transport in my car and with the hot weather and no ability for windows to go down or air to be turned on we could basically suffocate. I even waited until the next day (06/12/2017) and the car issues are still present: locks not working, windows not working, radio not working, air not working, and all dash controls not working, and today my key controls (lock, unlock, and alarm) would not work. Even when I started the car this morning to take the kids to school nothing worked so we were in a hot car for about 20 minutes to get them to school before the real hot weather starts.
My car barely picks up speeds I have to put my foot all the way down for it to catch speed. My radio only works on one station other station gives out lots of stacked.
We have a 2013 Ford Fusion and while driving car making a right turn the passenger rear door flew open luckily our child was sitting away from the door and we were on our driveway turning on a small highway. The door latch is not allowing door to stay shut. Upon research we found there is a recall on door latch of 2013 Ford Fusion manufactured at hermosillo plant and during certain dates in 2012. We taped our door shut and went to dealership they stated that our vehicle is not part of this recall. I informed them that our car was manufactured in hermosillo plant in 2013 and it fits the recall description. However they would not pay for it even though it is a recall. They want us to put up the 400. 00 to pay for it when their company has a recall on door latches. We had another issue with the coolant and again they had a recall on the coolant system as well but our car is not part of the recall although again it fit the recall description to a t. We paid to have that fixed but this is ridiculous that we have to pay out of our own pocket on a recall the company should be responsible for fixing. We don't have 400. 00 to fork out and we need it fixed as we have 3 children that we take to school everyday and we are struggling to find out where we can get the money to fix this problem when we feel it should be Ford to fix it.
The volume on the reverse sensing system is to low. With the radio on it is barely noticeable. I owned another Ford that I traded in on this car and the volume was nice and loud. I contacted Ford via their web page and they could not help me. The customer service agent did not know if the volume could be adjusted .

Inserting key into ignition fuel pump would kick on occasionally, the doors wouldn't always unlock upon shutting car off, dash and radio delayed coming on at times upon starting, unlocking doors with key fob there would be static coming from back speakers, keyless entry would unlock but not always relock, a few times the key wouldn't start car there would be no reaction at turning over, dash would light up at times when no key was in ignition and car locked, heater would blow hot air then turn to cold as if a/c was on, one day battery was dead and had to jump it nothing was left on and car was locked.
Alert tones emitted by the reverse sensing system and cross-traffic alert system are so low they are nearly inaudible with the radio off and they are inaudible with the radio on.
There is a terrible noise inside the car with the windows down, it sounds like there is a military helicopter in the car with you. From dealer to Ford, they say it is "normal" it is a safety issue with the loud noise and vibration inside the car at highway speeds. Also the radio does not tune all the fm radio stations? why? I am told this is normal as well and mine isn't the only car that has these problems.
We were leaving the bowling alley and backing up out of a parking space when our car just cut off. The lights are not dim and we tried to boost it from a friend's battery just to make sure it wasn't the battery. The radio and everything works inside the car, but there is not even a clicking noise when we turn the key so it isn't even attempting to cut on. We are going to the military sales office today since we are out of the u. S. When we bought it less than 7 months ago.
2009 Ford Fusion - while driving, all of the lights on the insturment panel lit up. Driver pulled over to safe area & shut off vehicle. Vehicle would not restart. Lights, radio and fan still worked. Vehicle was taken to garage for assessment & repairs - the main power control module and the transmission control module were bad, battery was at 9 instead of 12 - all componenets needed to be replaced.

I was driving on interstate 70 at approximately 65 mph when I suddenly lost all engine power. I was almost hit by a semi traveling behind me because my vehicle had absolutely zero acceleration. The "wrench" light on my car came on at the same time this happened. The semi behind me swerved to miss me and I was able to get my car off to the side of the road. Lights, climate control (a/c), radio, etc. Worked fine. Engine still ran but would not move forward. I turned the car off to call for assistance. Upon seeing if the car would re-start, it did and no "wrench" light appeared. I was able to then get the car to my local Ford dealership, but being a holiday they were closed. I could have been killed when this happened on the interstate with the semi behind me!! sounds like some kind of fuel injector or throttle problem. My vehicle is not even 3 years old and I bought it brand new in Dec. 2011.

While reaching over to my right to push a preselected radio selection button, I swerved to the right. No damage. But the placement of the radio tuner to the right of the console may cause other drivers to reach over and swerve.
Very shortly after first adjusting the steering wheel's tilt and telescope (which may be unrelated), during a short drive, many controls attached to the steering wheel stopped functioning. This included turn signals, cruise control, cell phone controls on the steering wheel, radio volume on steering wheel, and information display controls on the steering wheel. Of these, the turn signals are probably most critical to safe operation. Note that the horn, and the windshield wiper/washer, continued functioning properly. The next morning, a sales representative from the dealership found the vehicle in the same condition, but seemingly was able to restore service by "jiggling" the turn signal lever, indicating to me that it was resting very slightly forward of the normal at-rest position, and recommended service department investigate further. Dealer service department found a circuit board faulty. Part has been ordered for installation. In an abundance of caution, concerned that air bag deployment might be impaired were an accident to occur, the dealer provided substitute transportation pending repair.
I drive a 2013 Ford Fusion, which I purchased new from an authorized Ford dealership. By 3772 miles, the car began to downshift violently, upshift around 6 or 7 thousand rpms, not shift at all, the heated seat would come on by themselves with no indicator lights, the transmission gear indicator light stays on when the car is off and no key inside, the radio turns on and off at will when the car is parked and locked up, a severe odor of mildew comes from the a/c when first comes on, the trim molding keeps coming off, the car has lost a significant amount of power, the led lights in the tail lights stay on all night even after the car is turned off, and etc. These problems are inconsistent in nature with no identifiable conditions causing the series of non-conformities. Ford motor company hasn't been able to fix the car after numerous attempts. I am currently in arbitration.
My Fusion was towed to the Ford dealership in anaheim CA. I am having to replace my 2 year old cars: electronic throttle malfunctioned while I was driving on the freeway it kept stalling even though the engine is still running, this also happened a month ago and I took it in and a diagnostic was done finding nothing wrong it showed no problems, I also video taped the event. This happened both at speeds of 60-65 and 40 miles per hour. I am on disability and it is now going to cost over $400 that I cannot afford.
While driving and making a transition from the 101 CA fw to the 110 santa monica, I proceeded to give the car more gas to get up to speed of the current traffic flow but my car lost all acceleration. A little rench light started flasing but the car was quickly slowing down. The cars started idling heaving but still no accelaration. I quickly punched my hazard as I had my 3 children in the car with my and traffic was coming. I was able to make it to the first lane to try to exit the freeway. The car literally rolled to exit off 9th street and just glided down the off-ramp. A very terrifing experience as cars had to taje take evasion actions to avoid rearending me. I was able to pull the car over safe on the first available street. I put the car in park it started rattling harder. I then shut off the engine, turned everything off (air/radio) and unplugged my phone charger. I waited about 3 minutes and then started the car up again like nothing. I proceeded to take side street. It was about 2 weeks later ery next day the car started up as normal but on my way to work while in the process of getting into the freeway and as began to give the car gas to merge in I lost all accelaration again. The little wrench light came and the hard rattling started but this time the engine light came on. Husband drove it back to the dealer at 5mph rattling and all an we were told it was the trottle. The dealer said it would take 10 business day to get the part and replace it so a rental was provided. The very next day dealer said to pick up car as the trottle had been drained and reset not replaced. Not sure I understand why they are not fixing the car by replacing the part if so many issues are being reported. Refusing to pick up car till part is replaced and they can guarantee me this issue wont reaccur.
My cd player stopped working without any warning. I took my car to the dealer on 1/31/12 to see what was the problem. I waited all day and finally got a phone call saying that the cd player was being replaced. I asked what the problem was and my question was ignored and again I was told it was being replaced but the new cd player wouldn't be in until the next day. I returned there again today because I got an error message on my sirius radion saying "fault". I called sirius radio and they said that Ford needed to replace the satellite module. By the time I reached the dealership it was working again but just as I was about to pull off, it had the error message again "fault". They gave me a loaner and I guess they will call me tomorrow with an update.
2010 Ford Fusion sel. Customer writes in regards to continued transmission problems. The consumer stated the transmission would slip harshly and hesitate on acceleration. The recall repair did not correct the transmission problems. It was determined that the valve body and solenoid body were defective. Also, one of the tires was leaking air, there was an issue with the traction and brakes. There were noises coming from the front of the vehicle. The steering wheel would not lock into place, the cd player did not work at times, the driver side visor did not stay in place, the gas over flow tube was inoperative, the vehicle would pull hard when the brake was applied. The rear driver's side door had to be slammed extremely hard, in order to close it. The driver's side seat belt was backwards. The passenger side windshield wiper dragged on the windshield and the vehicle would sometimes surge on its own. Each time the consumer went to the dealer about certain problems, she was told no problems were found.
Vehicle pulls to the right, brakes are working correctly windows are beginning to mold, cd has eaten up cd's, tires do not grip road well.
