37 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/08/2025

I have filed a complaint last month and didn't have an email at the time. . I was given a ticket number. . . [xxx], which upon searching isn't a thing. My son purchased a 2011 Ford Fusion from a " mechanic" who claimed he just did the brakes, calipers etc. . We replaced many parts and upon driving it within 4 days I lost all control braking at a speed of 35-40mph. . It's a miracle that I wasn't on the freeway. Had it towed to keith's muffler in westland mi. . After over a month decided they were not working on it anymore. . And closed up shop. Had it pushed to pioneer auto care next door , supplied them with a remanufactured part after determining it's the abs module. . Most Fusions have the exact problem however not for the 2011. . . Ford customer service said call NHTSA. . . Where do I find the complaint online or can someone tell me what to do!!!!! I'm about to call channel 7 news because I'm out thousands. . And need a car. Most Fusions have had a recall on the abs module. There seems to be absolutely zero regulatory departments overseeing auto mechanics in michigan that will do anything to help me. Please advise. The driver was able to bring the vehicle to a complete stop by engaging the parking brake. The abs warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the hydraulic control unit. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brake, hydraulic); but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 182,500.

46 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/05/2024

On [xxx] my car exhibited a problem where the brake pedal was mushy and had to be pushed half way down to stop the vehicle. It felt very unsafe as it happened suddenly and stayed like that. Since I felt unsafe, I took it to my nearest mechanic local shop. He told me that it can be a master cylinder issue first and then the hcl. I looked online and found an old recall on Ford Fusions 2006-2010 model with recall number 19s54 (dot brake fluid and anti-lock brake system function). I checked my VIN and there was no recall for my vehicle. It was strange since my vehicle build day was very close to the date mentioned on the recall. On 12/4/2024 at 7:45 am pst (10:45 est), I called Ford dealer (colley Ford service) and described the issue and told them about the recall. They did some research and told me my vehicle is not covered. On 12/4/2024 at 8:00 and 8:30 am pst (11:30 est), I called the customer relations at Ford. They provided the same response and told me that no recall is on my vehicle based on my VIN. That was a bit frustrating given that my vehicle was showing very similar issue and as safety concern. I also discussed this recall with my mechanic. I told my mechanic to go ahead with the repairs he believes is appropriate for my car to ensure my safety. My mechanic inspected it and told me that its either a master cylinder problem or the hydraulic brake control unit (hcu) or both. He first changed the master cylinder and flushed brakes with dot 4 Ford recommended. That did not fix the issue. Next, he changed the hcu and that fixed the problem. To me, this indicates that with high probability, my vehicle exhibited same problem as what it was shown within the recall notice. I need this to be investigated and I need Ford to be accountable for this issue and pay for my repair expenses as my car has a very close build date and is from the same plant and is a Fusion. I have uploaded a picture of the bill I paid the recall sample. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information ac.

47 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/02/2024

The abs module is faulty and light will come on at random times and makes steering hard and braking on right side of vehicle is hard. I have taken it to raceway Ford of hartsville and they are having a hard time getting the part due to it being called obsolete but I think it needs to be on the recall list as well due to it being a safety concern on my vehicle.

48 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/26/2024

I have noticed for some time in our 2009 Ford Fusion purchased used that the brake travel was longer than it should be. This results in the need to anticipate braking quicker and react faster to allow appropriate time to slow down. In doing some research I discovered a Ford recall 19s54 which was apparently replaced by a Ford csp 21n11. I made an appointment to have this issue addressed by a Ford dealership and they said that the csp expired in 2022 and the vehicle is no longer covered despite the persistence of the safety issue and the fact that it has not been repaired for this known problem. With a significant issue, such as braking, I believe the expiration should be extended to allow for Ford owners to have this known safety issue addressed appropriately by Ford.

49 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/25/2024

The contact's son owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The contact stated that the brakes became inoperable. Additionally, the tire pressure warning light was illuminated. The brakes were replaced by the contact’s brother, who is an independent mechanic and had determined that there was air trapped in the brake lines and the brake lines needed bleeding. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

50 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/20/2024

While waiting at a red traffic light in drive and on a slight incline, engine shut off by itself and car started rolling backward with my foot on the brake pedal. The pedal felt harder than normal to push but didn't stop the car. A car stopped behind me was put at risk of impact with the rear of my vehicle. I could see I was getting closer and closer to hitting the other car. As this was happening, I pushed the start button and managed to restart the engine and put it in drive to pull away just before impact. Problem hasn't been reproduced by anyone. Vehicle or components haven't been inspected by anyone. No warning light lamps or other symptoms of the problem prior or during remaining drive home. I don't know if this is related but the car does have a random no start symptom due to a battery discharge condition while parked overnight. This happens very rarely and is not reproducible when the battery is charged. Ford has a TSB ref. 17-2192 on this failure that is applicable to my VIN but they will not cover it since my car is out of warranty (time and 73k miles). The dealer further stated that there is no guarantee that this re-programming of the pcm will fix the problem. The Ford dealer gave me an estimate of $214 for the re-programming of the pcm and it does not include a new battery if it needs it. I have an appointment to get it done on 11/22/24 but I'm reluctant to pay for something that may not fix the parasitic pcm draw on the battery. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

51 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/13/2024

On multiple occasions after an abs brake event, the brake pedal will travel all the way to floor with very little braking power. In some instances, the brake pedal returns to normal after a short amount of time and repetitive pumping of the the brake pedal. In other instances, an extended period of time and aggressive pumping and stabbing of the brake pedal is required to regain full brake control. In every case, this condition has occurred immediately following an abs brake event. However, it does not occur after every abs brake event, making it very unpredictable. There have been no warning lamps, messages, symptoms, or other indication of a problem prior to each occurrence. This vehicle has been inspected by a Ford dealer. The dealer was not able to reproduce the problem, but loss of brake pedal with little brake control continues to occur unpredictably. We use this vehicle for commuting to downtown minneapolis in heavy traffic and ice roads. Despite cautious driving habits, this issue has created multiple close call collisions with other vehicle.

52 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/10/2024

Advancetrac stopped working in my car due a sensor. Had to get it replaced by midas. When I went to turn on my car and put it in drive it started making an awful grinding sound and would not move and gave me an error code that just said service advancetrac. It was insanely expensive to repair and thankfully didn't happen while I was driving.

53 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/07/2024

57 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/16/2024

I received a recall notice for my 2013 Ford Fusion. The recall was 23s12- multi vehicle front brake jounce hose leaks. I contacted Ford about the repairs for this recall and was told that the repairs would take 1. 3 hours because the brake lines needed to be bled as part of the repair. When I contacted my local Ford dealership about getting the repairs, I was told I would have to leave my vehicle for at least 2 days if I wanted the repairs done. No loaner vehicle has been offered. I cannot be without my car for 2 days. How am I to get the repair work done?.

58 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/07/2024

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and hesitated to come to a stop. In addition, there was fuel leaking from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who confirmed that the brake fluid was leaking from the hose. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 23v162000 (service brakes, hydraulic. )the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

59 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/04/2024

When coming to a stop the brake pedal went straight to the floor. No warnings were lamps were present. A mechanic checked the brake lines, master cylinder, and calipers and was not able to reproduce the issue. The mechanic deduced that the likely culprit was a faulty abs control module. Had I been on the interstate or even had another vehicle infront of me, this would have been absolutely disastrous. This seems related to the recall for the older model Fusions. This needs to be looked at.

60 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/02/2024

I've had recurring issues of brake failure. Thankfully, none of the issues have resulted in fatality, injury or major damage. My most recent issue happened as I was leaving my job. I depressed the brake to put the car in drive and the brake went down almost to the floor. I hesitantly drove the car to an auto shop near my home and was able to have the brakes serviced. I have included that invoice (10. 02. 24) along with some invoices from previous issues (09. 07. 17) (04. 12. 18). There have been recalls made concerning the break line in Ford Fusions that were released around the same time as mine (recall #23s12). I question if, although my VIN number does not show in the recall search, my car should have been included within this recall. I'm concerned and I would like to know if I have any options toward reimbursement for these repairs and/or a complimentary inspection to make sure there is indeed no safety issue that is connected recall 23s12 or any other Ford brake line recall. Please review this information and follow up at your earliest convenience. Thanks.

61 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

Under normal driving conditions, I have experienced extended brake pedal travel while braking, accompanied by the activation of the abs, brake, and traction control warning lights. This issue has recurred multiple times over the past year while driving at speeds up to 65 mph, typically lasting for several days until the warning lights reset and hydraulic/regenerative braking is restored. The failure of the hydraulic braking system poses a significant threat not only to my safety but also to the safety of everyone on the road. Without reliable brakes, the ability to stop effectively is compromised, increasing the risk of accidents and endangering both myself and others nearby. Most recently, this problem persisted for over two weeks. The vehicle was inspected at a Ford dealership, which determined that the abs module had failed and required replacement. The vehicle is available for further inspection upon request. This failure of the abs module could be linked to the same issue previously recalled in the gas model of the Ford Fusion (Ford motor company recall no. 19s54), where the dot3 brake fluid causes a normally closed valve to remain stuck open in the brake system’s hydraulic control unit (hcu). Alarmingly, the Ford Fusion hybrid model was excluded from this recall, despite exhibiting the same dangerous braking issues. In November 2018, the NHTSA recommended a safety recall for this concern due to its serious nature. Ford’s "customer satisfaction program 21n11" acknowledges the gravity of the situation but excludes hybrid models, placing the financial burden of essential repairs on owners. I urge the NHTSA to take immediate action to address this safety issue for all affected vehicles, including the Ford Fusion hybrid, and implement a recall to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.

62 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/24/2024

Tire pressure monitor system warning action now issue since 09-22-2024 the tire pressure monitoring system has detected one or more tires are significantly under-inflated. Suggested actions: check the tire pressure to ensure the tires are properly inflated. Warning: the tire pressure monitoring system is not a substitute for manually checking tire pressure. The tire pressure should be checked periodically (at least monthly) using a tire gauge. See inflating your tires in the wheels and tires chapter of your owner's guide. Failure to properly maintain your tire pressure could increase the risk of tire failure, loss of control, vehicle rollover and personal injury.

While I was driving and the car hits a hole if the road, and I tried to brake so I can controll the car the breakes became uresponsive for the moment and after a few seconds when I try to brake again the travel space of the brake pedal is increased a lot and is near the end, and it takes a lot before the things return to normal( so it happens only when the car try to activate te abs system).
