When trying to pump gas, the sensor cuts the flow of gas off at about one half gallon. If you remove the nozzle, gas splashes back and all over the person pumping, the car and the ground. When you continue to pump, the sensor cuts off every second. There is no way the tank can be filled in its entirety. I have had the gas set up rebuilt by my local mechanic, thinking something might be blocking the connection of gas entry to tank, but there was nothing and the problem was not resolved. I was then informed that this is common, that I must find a gas station that has a specific pump with no sensor (not a single station anywhere near my residence), I have to tilt the pump at a 90 degree angle. Well, I tried all of the suggestions, yet my car is still splashing gas, etc. This is a hazard! not only spilling gas on the ground and vehicle, but myself!! also, I cannot fill the tank, making a very dangerous situation in new england winters where you can get stranded for hours in your car in road accidents, conditions, etc. Please help! I do not think I should have to hunt down a specific gas station that doesn't exist, or spend more money trying to find someone who can fix this, or wear gasoline wherever I go. Please help!!!!!.

I cannot pump a full tank of gas unless I stand there and pull the gas nozzle out every second!! it is driving me crazy! there has to be an issue with the fuel system and I have seen many complaints! Ford should fix and recall this issue!!.
The contact owns a 2003 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while refueling the vehicle, fuel emitted from the tank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 101,000.

When I try to put gas in my car the car will only allow me to put half of a tank in the car and I have to force it to take more which as cause the gasoline to overflow even when the tank is not full. I have taken it to a dealership and told me its a known issue but they could not fix the issue for me. This has happenend in the past but now the car wont let me put more then a half tank everytime. I have tried to go to various gasoline stations all different brands to see if there are any differences but have not had any success.

The first thing to happen around June of 2011 was my gas gauge dropped to empty and the low fuel light came on when in fact I had a full tank. This started doing it every so often and now does it on a daily occurrence. The next thing approx. A month later my tach started acting strange and is now stuck in one position and has been that way for about 6 months. Starting last September the speedometer would drop down to 0 while driving, sometimes it shows going 20 or 25 miles per hour when in fact I am probably doing 55 or 60. This is very distressing as I love my Mustang and bought it brand new in December 2004. It now has a little over 70000 miles and I am seeing where others have this same problem. This is not a fluke but sounds like a defect on these Mustangs. It is not a cheap fix and Ford needs to step up to the plate and a recall needs to be done. This is a safety hazard that needs to be repaired.

I noticed a fuel leak when I filled up my tank. It was quite bad! and was a definate safety risk!
I checked under car and found the fuel neck has a plastic cover to protect from road hazards?? that plastic cover allows dirt and moisture to collect around the fuel neck. The neck inside was rusted completely through. There is essentially a 2 inch hole in the fuel neck!
I had to replace the entire fuel neck to fix the problem. I checked online and apparently this is very common with 1999 - 2004 Mustangs. It's also very dangerous since gas comes pouring out of the bottom of the car.

2005 Ford Mustang been to the service department 3 times for not being able to fill gas tank, spews out even at a trickle from the pump 4th time returned to dealer and said there was a repair but now my warranty has run out. They knew the repair was available long ago. Surely this qualifies as a defect in the system. When it happens my wife gets covered in gas shooting out the filler neck.
Gas tank will no longer accept gas from a gas station pump. We have repeated shut offs of the pump. Can only use pump by turning gas pump upside down. This is a public safety issue as gas will overflow the tank and will spray into the ground. Ford is aware of problem as a design defect, but will only cover expense if car is under warrenty. This is a problem in 2005 and 2006 Mustangs which are most likely out of warrenty. Ford should be required to fix this problem when it occures.
2007 Ford Mustang will not fill up past 1/2 tank of fuel, the dealer states there is nothing wrong with the car and to take it to a different station. I've been to stations all over the west and rarely find one that will let me fill up even when running the pump at minimum while not fully engaging the pump into the filler. I've noticed that no pumps that have vapor recovery boots will fill the car up beyond 1/3 tank. Which pretty much rules out taking the car to California for any reason. There is obviously a major defect here that should be recalled!.
Cannot easily put gas in tank. This just started occuring after having 80,000 +/- miles on vehicle. The dealer stated that this car had updated (remedy) tank installed during production, because Ford knew of problem on 2005s. Newer tank worked successfully for many miles. Gassing up is now too frustrating to deal with. I've been a Ford fan for my entire life, but this might change my mind.
Approximately a year ago, the speedometer and fuel gauges on my 2005 Ford Mustang started to malfunction. Since then, they have been giving me false readings. Examples include my fuel level will read at half a tank when I will actually be near empty, the more pressing issue however, is that my speedometer keeps giving me increadibly inaccurate readings, saying I'll be going 90 mph, when I'll really be going 20, or saying that I'm constantly going well over 150mph. . . Even though my car will be parked and turned off. I have read that many other 2005 Mustang owners are having this problem and being told they are having to pay anywhere from $500-600 for the repair when it is clearly Ford motor's fault. I cannot afford to pay this, but I cannot afford to continue having to guess my speed either, it is unsafe, and potentially causing me to break the law by speeding. A recall order needs to be issued to save me and my fellow Mustang owners from having to pay this excessie cost for a problem that is the maker's problem.
Fuel neck of 2001 Mustang gt rusted through beneath a plastic black sheeth posibly because of road salt build up. This lead to fuel leakage and emision code failure due to low tank pressure. The fuel neck and fuel neck gasket were changed.

Ford Mustang 2006 - can not put gas in gas tank. Will automatically shut off without putting gas in tank -- gas just spills onto your feet -- creating a safety hazard. Ford knows of this problem - there is a service bulletin & many complaints. Ford says there is "no fix". Suggests getting gas at different gas station. I have had car to Ford service 4 times -- so far spent $300 on supposed fixes. Now they say there is no fix. So - I have a car, with 20,000 miles on it, that I can not drive. Must stay close to home, just in case I can't get any gas into it. So far have found one gas station where I can put in gas in the car. Ford is obviously not working on this problem since it has been known for many years -- the copy of Ford service bulletin that I have is dated 2007 -- the service bulletin TSB 07-21-12 - states that the problem can be improved by using a different gas station. This is unacceptable. Local Ford dealer just shrugs their shoulders and gives me a copy of service bulletin that says there is no fix. Tired of having gas slosh onto my feet and the side of the car.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while refueling the vehicle, gasoline began spewing from the vehicle and onto the ground and the contact. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where the contact was advised to inquire with the manufacturer about a technical service bulletin on the vehicle. The dealer advised there was a defect within the fuel tank and any repairs would be at the owner's expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 67,000.
I have a 2006 Ford Mustang and I continuously have problems putting gas into the vehicle, even when it is near empty. The gas will splash back out and not go into the tank. This has happened numerous times and just as recent as June 6, 2010. I also had an incident around March of 2010 when I tried to stop for a stop light and my car accelerated while I was literally standing on the brake. I almost hit the car in front of me and was stopped by police for hazardous driving. When I explained what had happened, I did not receive a citation but had to go across a curb and stand on the brake while pulling the emergency brake to get the car to stop. This was very frightening and dangerous to myself and the people around me.
1. Ran out of gas on freeway 2. Within 1 week after buying my 2005 Mustang the gas gauge would read out of fuel when I had a full tank. Now the fuel gauge stays on full even when I am out of fuel. 3. Fords solution was to add tekron fuel booster, which to my surprise worked for a while. Now I put in the tekron from chevron and it does no longer solve the problem. I talked to the Ford dealer and Ford motor company and got the same answer, the Mustang has a split fuel tank and both sides have a fuel level sensor and they both have to be replaced to solve the problem. To a tune of over $600. 00. Why is it that Nissan has a recall back to 95 to fix fuel gauge problems but Ford puts the repair cost on the customer, its not right.
My 2006 Mustang has started only allowing 5-9 gallons of gas to be put in when it is warm outside. It starts spiting gas back out of the tank. I get gas all down the side of the car and all over me. This is very dangerous. We can get more gas in at night when it is cooler outside.
Having problems trying to gas up my 2007 Mustang at least every 3rd or 4th fillup. No matter how much gas in the tank the pump clicks like when full but in fact is only half full. When tank is half full it clicks at 3/4 full. Tried every other means to fill but nothing works. Phoned my dealer, (violette motors in edmundston, nb. Canada) told me he never had any complaints on this subject. I told him to look at his TSB,s and he would surely see there are problems. He told me that his instructions were to tell me to gas up elsewhere.
2005 Ford Mustang I purchased the car as a used vehicle. On most occurrences it takes 15 minutes to fuel the car with about 1/4 -1/8 of a tank of fuel remaining. There appears to be an issue with pressure in the tank causing the pump nozzle to shut off repeatedly. The nozzle must be removed from the tank inlet and then put back in about 20-30 times in order for the tank to be filled.
Trying to refuel at some pumps is a problem. Something keeps shutting off the pump. I have learned to recognize this and go to another station down the road. I can usually fill the tank at another station. There are some stations where this has problem has occurred more times than not, so I try to avoid these stations.
Fuel filling is awkward to say the least! I can only fill to just over half a tank of fuel then the clicker forces me to stop. The owners website claim this is a common problem for 2007 Mustangs and that we should try another gas station with a less sensitive filler or turn the nozzle to the 2 o clock position. Turning the nozzle does work from time to time but the problem still remains. Why aren't the dealers acknowledging this is a problem a provide a suitable solution? this won't do much for marketing or future sales if this is left!.
Passenger seat belt not working properly. The seat belt does not tighten up when buckled or retract. Second problem. Gasoline tank has a broken gasket/seal that goes from the filler neck to the gas tank. Gas tank is leaking gas while parked or driving.

Every time I put fuel in the car, it starts leaking out. It leaves quite a big puddle of gas on the ground. When I stop putting gas in, the leak stops. I don't believe I am losing any at the gas tank, just when filling up.
Gas tank on my 2005 Mustang won't completely fill. The local Ford dealer says this is a common problem on this vehicle. They replaced the tank a few months ago after it wouldn't fill up. The new tank worked correctly until a week and a half ago. Now the local dealer says there is nothing that can be done to correct the problem.
On my 2007 Mustang if I have a half a tank or more of gas I can not put more gas in about 9 out of 10 times. The dealer and Ford headquarters told me there's nothing they can or will do to fix my car! I have had this problem ever since I bought the car new>.
Popping noise up front when I turn left or right, also very hard to put gas in tank my brother is a certified mechanic and he said it was the strut bearing plate making the popping noise on the passenger side. It is like 300. 00 plus labor to replace. I have read alot of people complaining on the popping noise, this should be a recall. The gas tank should be a recall too. Thanks.
When fueling car, the gas pump immediately turns off and gas leaks out of tank. This is a repeat of same issue that was to have been resolved with TSB fix completed on the car 5/2/07.
I own a 2007 Mustang and everytime I fuel up, it only allowed me to put 1/2 to 2/4 tank full and they is shuts off the gas pump. I have take the car to my local dealer and they told me they could not find anything wrong with it and to advised to try different gas stations. This is a continuing problem since I purchased the car new in Dec of 2007.
My Mustang developed a fuel leak as the result of the fuel tank filler necks grommet failing. I initially smelled gas and after filling up the tank and parking on a hill I notice a large spot of gasoline on the pavement below.
Purchased my 2006 Mustang gt in December of '06. It had approx. 59 miles on it. I have had nothing but problems with this car. The latest (and current) problem is that the car will not take any gas. The first time the problem occurred the dealership changed the fuel tank. The very first time I tried to fill up the same thing happened-it will not take the gas. The car has been sitting at the dealer since 10/25/07-today is the 28th of November. Ford has had several engineers out to look at the car and they can not resolve the problem.
Failure occurs everytime you attempt to fill the fuel tank. The vehicle will not take fuel. Ford has put out a TSB 07-21-12 to address the issue. If TSB does not solve the problem-there is no solution according to Ford.
My 2006 Mustang gt will not take fuel. It has had the tank replaced once. The very next time I need to fuel up, after getting the new tank, the same thing happened. It will not fuel up. The car has been at the dealers since then (10/24/07). The dealer had Ford engineers out to look at the car-they say it cannot be fixed. How do you manufacturer something that cannot be fixed?.
Filling fuel tank - in response to all those consumers having problems filling their 2005 Ford Mustang gas tanks, here is a method you can try which works for me everytime. Turn the gas pump/hose nozzle in an upside down position within your tank and it should fill without shutting off!.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang. The contact is unable to put gasoline in the gas tank. The vehicle has been to the dealer three times where it currently remains. On the third trip to the dealer, the gas tank was replaced. However, it has failed again. The VIN, purchase date, and engine size were unknown. The current mileage is 17,000 and failure mileage was 3,000.
2007 Ford Mustang: I have had many problems while trying to fill tank with fuel. Happens more than not. While filling up pump clicks of like tank is full, however it is not. Can try several pumps at same gas station and keeps clicking off. Then just drive a short ways up the road and put another 5 gallons in. Just one example. After a few trips to the dealer, problem still occurs.
