December 2024 experienced loss of power, was able to have a certified Ford maintenance facility look at it, but found nothing, codes cleared. Codes presented were hill start assist warning, pre-collision assist warning, power train malfunction/reduced power. Drove the vehicle 3 hours in below zero temp. The next day after the vehicle sat in freezing temps, drove approximately 5 miles on snow covered roads when experienced loss of power. Went from 55 miles an hour to less than 10 mph in about 200 feet. No traffic behind me, drove the remainder of the distance (another 5 miles) at 5-10 mph. Had to have the vehicle tow to a dealership where I was informed that there is a service bulletin on the throttle body. They ended up dumping approximately 2 cups of water from the throttle body. Ford replaced the throttle body at no charge. I called Ford customer service to share my concern. The fact that the vehicle speed fell off so quickly was what prompted me to call.
The ignition coil and spark plug failed and caused the vehicle to misfire & lose power under load. The vehicle is available for inspection. Sudden loss of power could have caused a collision due to the vehicle suddenly slowing without warning in traffic conditions. Ford motor company is aware of the problem and has a service bulletin describing how the lack of an engine cover allows water to get into the spark plug wells causing the failure to occur. Ford's fix is to install the engine cover and replace the damaged components. But will only do so under the standard warranty. Ford was notified of the problem with my vehicle while it was well within warranty. But because a dealer could not schedule an appointment until 9 days after the standard warranty expired, they have denied coverage. Dealership has inspected the components and confirmed problem is related to service bulletin. Check engine light came on and was flashing when problem occurred. No prior warning or symptom until problem occurred.
Cruising at highway speed ,truck starting bucking and losing speed. Took a minute for it to stop. Then resumed normal speed. This has happened twice. First incident was shorter in length.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 35 mph. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission was skipping gear, slipping, and shifting hard. The check engine warning light was briefly illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the head gasket was failing. The dealer stated that coolant was intruding into the engine, and there was engine oil was entering into the spark plugs, causing engine failure. The dealer also diagnosed the vehicle with transmission failure. The head gasket and the transmission were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle needed to be drive more often for the vehicle to run properly. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, mountain grove Ford (11311 bus dr #60, mountain grove, mo 65711); and the vehicle was diagnosed with a transmission fluid leak and fractured head gasket. The head gasket was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The transmission jerked abnormally when the vehicle was shifted into park on an incline. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The manufacturer opened a case regarding the failures and extended the warranty for the transmission. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
Exactly what is described in TSB 22-2025 and 21-2147. Ford did not put an engine cover on my truck, and water has intruded into the spark plug wells and corroded the equipment. Ford is refusing to fix the issue, as the NHTSA didn't include my VIN in the two previously issues tsbs about this.

Ford failed to install a upper engine cover on Rangers with the 2. 3 eco boost engine, this lets water to gather around the spark plugs causing misfires and stalling. This can cause vehicles to stall on the highway. This has been a on going problem with these vehicles. These covers were installed from the factory on Ford explorers with the same engines from the factory. Ford service has used air to blow water from around the spark plugs. Then they tell the customer the need to buy the cover to prevent this from happening again.
It’s been about 4 months on the forward collision alarm and 4 1/2 weeks on the jerking going when taking off the transmission seems to jerk and when driving down a highway when nothing what so ever is on front of me all the sudden my front collision alarm goes off with a sudden breaks being applied by themselves. I spoke to dealer about it and all they told me it was probably from a shadow of trees or a sign which is bull crap.

Engine revving up, could have engaged the vehicle to move quickly into traffic. The revving up lasted about 15 seconds.
Excessive fuel in the oil. Oil smells of gas and is diluted. Almost a quart high at 3000 mile mark. Dealer and Ford admit this may be an issue on some engines but it is supposed to be normal??? we installed a pcv catch can and it will fill up with fuel in about 800-1000 miles. That is almost 8 ozs. The included photo shows oil at about 4000 miles. The second hole you see in the dipstick is above the full mark.

Drive truck and park in garage and garage smells like gas. Only happens when parking truck in garage right after driving it. This has happened about 3-4 times now. I don't drive it that often. Just had an oil change at Ford and drove home. Then the next day I took it out and parked it in garage and gas smell again. Smell will last 2-3 days if truck stays parked. Have an appt. This coming week at Ford.

My daughter called me screaming when her 2005 Ford Ranger fx4 level 2 had unexplained runaway throttle while driving back to college in January 2022. The vehicle had the cruise control on for a couple hours and without warning, began to accelerate to the point that it was at the rev limiter, traveling at 90 miles an hour. She called me hysterical and I advised her to shut off the cruise and hit the brakes but nothing would stop her or turn off the cruise. I advised her to turn off the vehicle to acc position and coast to the shoulder. When she had calmed down, I asked her to restart the truck, it started wide open throttle, so she immediately shut it off. I told my daughter then to mash the gas pedal a few times and restart the vehicle. It restarted at normal idle speed. 1/28/2022- my daughter came home from school today for a visit, the same thing happened again on her drive home. She was able to coast to the shoulder and restart after mashing the pedal a few times. I am advising her not to use the cruise control and to get it into a Ford shop to inspect. There are no lamps or warnings to indicate there is an issue or code/cel. This is a deadly situation that apparently has occurred with Ford explorers that have the 4. 0 liter engine and 5. 0l engine. . Read more...

Incident was reported to me by an employee. Driving in traffic on a highway with normal, dry road conditions the accelerator pedal started moving down on its own. The truck accelerated on its own from 50 mph to 70+ mph. Applying the brakes the truck did not slow down. Eventually, the accelerator pedal corrected itself and started working normally. There was no indication on the dashboard of the issue. This could have resulted in a serious accident or death. The truck is waiting to be towed to the Ford garage for repair. Thank you, wendy mcneill.
After driving a 700 mile round-trip, I got home and parked my vehicle in my garage. The engine has a squeaking noise, unknown where it is from. The noise is upon start up and while driving, I do not know if the issue will lead to engine failure. Which if the engine locks up and cause drivability failure.
Motor rattling, knocking in transmission, exhaust sounded louder than usual, motor cut off and unable to start.

The critical level of fuel dilution (fuel% = 5. 5) in the motor oil of this vehicle's 2. 3l ecoboost engine poses a safety hazard due to its system's fuel leaks and fire danger probability existing since the vehicle purchase. I am concerned for the safety of everyone because this vehicle has been evaluated to be a fire hazard with 104. 5c via astm d93 closed cup flash point. The motorcraft's safety data sheet (sds) is listed as >185c. Ford motor company (fmc) inspected the vehicle numerous times but safety issues remain. For this reason, I took it out of service and parked at my residence until this problem would be resolved entirely in according with the law. The vehicle mustn't be driven on its power.
I changed my oil at 5,000 miles, I have approximately 8,400 miles on my truck now. I noticed excessive fuel built up in my oil catch can. After doing some research a lot of people with the 2019 Ford Ranger are having the same issue. I checked my oil and my oil was saturated with fuel. Fuel is getting into the engine oil.

My truck(2020 Ford Ranger) has fuel contamination in the engine oil. I changed the oil for the first time when the truck had 860 miles on it. The oil reeked of gasoline when I changed it. I sent the oil into blackstone for analysis and the results showed a 4. 3% fuel dilution of the oil, which according to the company is a cautionary level. They also stated the oil viscosity was low and probably due to fuel dilution. I opened a Ford customer complaint (cas-29025613) and took it to dealer. The dealer inspected the vehicle and said nothing is needing repair at this time. No TSB's are listed for this complaint. The dealer said they tried calling Ford to update the complaint claim with their findings but couldn't do so because was already closed! very frustrating. There are several other Ford Ranger owners (on Ranger5. Com forums) who also complain of having fuel dilution in their oil and Ford has yet to take them seriously and investigate the root cause.
