The engine speed will not return to idle speed until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. Idle speed 825rpm hot 2000rpm cold 1200rpm while the vehicle is rolling this event makes it very difficult to stop the vehicle (more so on slippery roads) constant and excessive use of the brakes. . I have told this to the dealer and they have said that this is a normal condition, there is no adjustment. They say that they have checked into the problem.

Heard loud rattle under acceleration. Have a hearing loss so I could not hear the sound. My son brought it to my attention. Took it to the dealer and he diagnosed it as primary timing chain rattle. Attempted to get Ford to fix it. No luck.

The metal tubes for the engine choke heater, rusted out right above the aluminum head. Was told that there is no way to fix the problem, except to replace the head with a new one. The head will cost at least $250. My truck is a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT with a 3. 0l. Was told the only way this tube would break was from a crash, or from rusting from the inside. I know my truck has never been in a crash, kind of odd that only the tube has rusted and not more engine parts. Anyone else have this problem.
Rough running, misfire and a lack of power due to a loss of compression.

A failed roller rocker destroyed a cam and lifter after only 66,000 miles. 3,000 miles previous I had taken it to the dealer who said they couldn't hear the noise. By the time they could hear it, the damage had more than tripled. The failure was definitely caused by the defective roller rocker(the part is available for inspection).
When the transmission is engaged, automatic, on acceleration, there is a chattering noise coming from the engine area. Happens whether a/c is on or not.
Cracked engine head, truck had only 65,000 miles and was not driven hard. Heater still doesn't warm up as it should, even after manufactures repair.
While driving the vehicle at 45mph suddenly engine died, forcing the consumer to pull out of the road. Dealer notified.
97 Ford Ranger 4wd ~79k miles, my wife was driving home freom work on back road doing 30 mph. She thought she ran over something and the truck immediately died. No engine, power steering or anything. What happened was the crak shaft broke off at the engine block. A whole engine replacement was needed. Inspecting where the shaft broke off it is obvious to me, the mechanic and others that part was defective in the manufacture proces. About 40% of the ring of the shaft looks fine (solid steel). The remainder of the ring is all pourous. It looks like a bad forge process. Although there was no damage or injury or worse, I do believe this defect presented a dangerous saftey issue. If this had happened on the hyway the concequences could have been catastrophic. The defect should have been caught in some quality control porcess. I have contacted Ford about reimbursment for the engine replacement but they will not consider it. I have the part that broke off and can supply you with digital photos if that would help. Thank you for this opportunity to register this complaint.

When placing vehicle in reverse, motor raced with foot on the brakes. It was later determined by dealership that it was a computer problem and was reprogrammed. This remedied the problem temporally. Failure has occurred numerous times since the part replacement. Consumer felt if Ford couldn't repair the vehicle without it failing again, then his money should be returned.
97 Ford Ranger ,both head gaskets letting coolant seep out. 74,000 miles on it.
The harmonic balancer separated, which made contact with the transmission and front u-joint. The rear end of vehicle tore apart when the front portion of the drive shaft made contact with the road. Dealer was contacted and stated that there was no recalls so there was nothing they could do about it. Ph.

I had a pinging, they changed a sensor, it went away for a while and now it is back, then they cleaned the carbon out of the engine and now it surges, and still pings. They put it on a machine and the machine said it is ok. I am not satisfied.
The vehicle lost power while driving in third gear, the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. Ts.
I went in to have the oil changed and they showed me that the oil pan gasket was about to blow out. I had just had the oil changed 3000 miles agoe and went on a trip whit a new oil change. I returned home and went to get the oil changed again the next day and found the oil gasket comming out. Thank god it did not blow while I was driving back home during the long trip I had gone on.
