Horn Assembly Problems of Ford Ranger

Rodents keep eating the wiring in the engine causing thousands of dollars in damage. This has happened twice in a two month span. I found information that Ford uses plant based materials to coat the wiring and to make some of the hoses. I've tried different measures to prevent the rodents from damaging the wiring to no avail. This damage causes my electrical system to fail and knocked out my horn and other vehicle features. It doesn't seem fair and good business practice by Ford to keep using these products and not to inform buyers about this issue. My wife owns a Honda and her vehicle isn't touched by the rodents.

The horn does not always sound when you press the horn switch on the steering wheel. It is especially not likely to sound if you try to sound the horn in an emergency.

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked the horn activated on its own. When the contact proceed to inspect the vehicle she noticed the vehicle on fire and spreaded to the vehicle that was parked next to it. The fire department confirmed the vehicle was destroyed. The VIN was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 78,000.

Truck was parked at the veterinarian and I had gone inside with my two dogs. After about 15 or 20 minutes someone outside was blowing there car horn. The receptionist looked out and then told me my truck was on fire. I ran outside and smoke and flames were coming out from under the hood. We used fire extinguishers but that did very little. The fire truck got there and got the fire put out. They cut the hood open to make sure the fire was out.

Horn and winshield wipers come on when I turn on headlights on 2004 Ford Ranger XLT.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the windshield wipers turned on when the contact turned the headlights on. The wipers would not turn off. The horn also started honking and the windshield washer started spraying fluid. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership but the dealer could not find a reason for the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. The current mileage is approximately 90,500.

Electrical problems: 1. Intermittent wipers will wipe 2, 3, 4, 5 times at random in a row always and not in that order. 2. Backup lights continue to blow fuse after replacing all lighting parts 3. Horn works 1% of the time, unable to find cause. 4. Ac blows hot air intermittently even after replacement of blower blend door. 5. Gas: when below 1/4 tank and making right turn truck will stall, even after work on tank.

I have had 3 door switches replaced on my Ranger due to the "door ajar" light coming on. I have also talked to other people w/fords and they have had the same problem. My dome light will stay on, as does the door ajar light and sometimes the horn starts blowing.

4- wheel drive has quit working, it has only been used 3-4 times. Also horn has failed, cause unknown. Please provide further information.
