On February 27,2004, I purchased four (4) new tires (hoosier tires - dot adyk 9j0037) from a k&d offroad auto accessories,702 s. Collins street, plant city florida, 33563 (mike taylor-owner). Eleven months later (January 15, 2005), my vehicle showed signs of severe tire vibration in the ride and handling. I immediately took my vehicle to the nearest tire service company, long tire & auto service (authorized goodyear dealer) and was told that both front tires showed tire separation and all four (4) tires had cracking as a result of dry rot for age. The technician indicated that the tires were originally manufactured in 1997, apparently, seven (7) years before they were sold to me as new tires in 2004.
All four of the vehicle tires (original equipment) are showing sign of premature wear with less then 30,000 miles. Please provide the tire information (make, model, tire size and the dot numbers). The dealer was notified.
My seventeen year old son was driving home from work on Sunday, September 26, 2004 in his 1997 Ford Ranger pick-up. He was headed east on I-240 when his truck suddenly began to swerve out of control. He somehow managed to bring his vehicle to a stop safely, without a collision. After getting out to inspect his vehicle he found that his right rear tire was the cause. The tire, a firestone 14" with plenty of tread, had separated (ie. The tread had separated from the tire). The tire was still completely full of air even after this separation. The separation of the tread caused severe damage to the truck (approx. $1700. 00). There was no collision and the tire did not blow out, the tread just peeled off for no apparent reason.
While driving, a loud clanking noise was heard coming from the rear. The consumer was able to pull over and the noticed that the passenger tire tread separated from the wheel. The driver was able to change the tire. Goodyear wrangler p245/75r16 rts/#dot mk70d5dr1502.

I was driving on hwy. 40 going 68 miles per hour when the right front tire just popped off. I got control of the truck and made it to the side of the hwy. Because there were cars all around me when the incident occured I could not get off the road quickly enough and thus so causing the entire rim to be destroyed. The tire came off in one big ring and flew into the highway causing traffic to have to go around it at a high rate of speed. I had to Dodge traffic that was already having to go around to the side of the road I had to be on to get the tire out of the path of on comming cars. I retreived the tire and kept it to investagate if it was a recall or not. I had an accident on 5-12-04 when one of the other tires just like that one had blown out and caused my truck to roll and skid down the hwy. Ending upside down. I had to go to the emegency room and be checked out. I sustained scrapes and brusies and broken ribs. I didnt think it would be the tires since these were not the tires that had the recall on them. But after the other tire blew I figured it needed looking into. I had to have my truck repaired through my insurance company and pay the deductables for it to be done. I paid for two tires and a rim replacement. The internet said that there was a volentary recall on the tires that I had and gave me a number to contact them about it but when I called the lady said it was not one that is one the list. I wanted to file this complaint so that if there were others out there that have had the same problem maybe they will recall these also before someone gets hurt real bad or losses a life. There tires should not be allowed on the roads.

I was driving on I-95 at approximately 80 miles an hour when I heard a 'popping' sound as if my tire was flat. The noise came from the driver side front. My truck (a 98 Ford Ranger) was pulled off the road and into the grass on the shoulder of the road. As soon as I heard the noise, I attempted to slow down by applying the brake and continued to do so as I moved onto the grass. Unfortunately whether the grass was to wet, or for whatever reason, my truck did not slow down and I ran into a tree- renderring my truck undriveable. I later found out that the tread of my firestone p225 70r15 wilderness tires had peeled. There was still air filling the tire, but the tread had peeled off.

Goodyear wrangler rt/s front tires cupping badly, recommended tire rotation caused all four tires to be badly cupped resulting in serious vibration and difficulty in control on wet or icy surfaces. Internet search shows many people have the same problem. Tires were a replacement by Ford of firestone tires which were oem. It seems that tire failure or accidents may well result with the cupping of goodyear tires. Ford dealer says tires are defective but the warranty has run out and Ford is not responsible. Ford dealer (tasca Ford cranston, ri) recommended all tires be replaced at my expense! these tires have only 14,000 miles on them!.
