Tire Tread/belt Problems of Ford Ranger - part 2

Right side front and back tire had tread separation within mintues of each other. This happened while consumer was driving at 75 mph. Original equipment, 16k miles, mounted on a Ford, Ranger 2000.

While traveling about 40mph and without prior warning,right rear tire tread separated. Firestone, wilderness, p-225/70r15/.

While traveling on highway about 70mph consumer felt a vibration and thumping noise. The left front tire tread separated. The tire is a firestone ht.

First 2 front tires needed to be replaced at 19525 miles because the tread was starting to separate and the steel was showing through. On 11/4/01, I was driving on a highway @ 65 mph and heard a very loud sound from the back of the truck. The truck was uncontrolable and I slowed to a stopping speed and pulled over. The rear passanger side tire had the entire side wall separated from the tread of the tire and we were on the rim. The entire tire is in two pieces, separated at the seam of the tire. We went to the firestone dealer in town and he told us there was nothing he could do. . . And assumed that we had not rotated our tires, that the tire must have been in the front, and the "blow out" must have been due to a hole in the tire. He wouldn't even look at the tire. After replacing the tire, we noticed the other side of the tire was very worn and close to separation, also. We have the defective tire and can send pictures. The left front tire threw tread & went flat this tire had 5/32 tread. The right front tire had a tread seperation on examination. When installing two tires on the front and spare that were removed from the truck at about 25000 miles to put on snow tires one of these tires was found to have a tread separation. He truck at ab. Tread was separating on the tires. Firestone was aware of problem.

Pe00. 048; consumer was traveling at highway speed and heard vibration noises. Was able to pull over to shoulders, and saw that right rear tire tread separated from vehicle. Firestone, wilderness at, p22570r15 dealership was aware of problem.

Firestone, radial, p225/70r14, dot unknown, replacement equipment on a 1997, Ford Ranger with 40000 miles. Mileage of tire unknown. While driving 50 mph right rear tire had tread separation. No accident, no injuries. Please verify model of tire and add dot code. The dot # vnfc80a.

Consumer went in for his replacement tires for recall 00t005, the tires being replaced were firestone wilderness at, consumer is unhappy that the replacement tires are not similar replacements, general ameri 550 as p235/70r16 were used as the replacements.

The tread on the tires peeled off while my wife was driving on the interstate at 75mph. The back of the truck started to swing out of control and it went into a spin. It through her and the truck into two pine trees 15 feet off I-75. The truck was totalled and she was taken to the hospital with head contusions and pain. It was the worse experience of our life. We took pictures and we have saved the damaged tire and part of the missing tread. (the dealer sold the truck with 3 different name brand tires. ) although, we are extremely upset about the crash, we are thankful the accident was not fatal. While traveling 60-65mph on highway firestone, wilderness ht tires, size p225r70r15, dotw2uu1p0, original equipment with twenty-two thousand miles on them experienced a tread separation, dealer has been contatced but refuses to reimburse for damage and tires to vehicle.

Pe00 020 ; driver's side and passenger's side tires tread separated from vehicle. Also tires didn't hold air. P225/70r15, dot w2uuvv. Dealership was aware of problem.

Pe00 0200; left rear tire tread was beginning to separate. Tire was firestone,wilderness ht, 1p2049#w2kc. There was no incident, and firestone was not notified. Tire size was p205/75r14, consumer replaced all tires, the failed tire had a tread depth of 3/32 inch compared to 7/32 inch.

Pe 00 020/tread separation: while parked noticed left rear tire show sign of tread separation on a 1996, Ford, Ranger; aftermarket equipment, installed at 25,000 miles, tire size p225/70r14, dot# w2fc1pr038. Firestone was not notified at this time. Consumer reported problem to firestone on 5-29-2001 they advised consumer to contact Ford, and Ford told consumer to contact firestone, consumer replaced tires.

I experienced a tread separation at 70 mph on dry pavement on a warm day (90 degrees). (dot number: vdutjab146 tiresize: p255/60r15).

Firestone, wilderness at tires were original equipment on a 1998, Ford, Ranger, and tires had 49000 miles on them. Consumer had noticed tread separation from outer sidewall where tread met sidewall. P265/75r15, dot w2b1pk. 2 firestone dealers and 1 Ford dealer stated consumer should replace all tires, 1 other firestone dealer stated tire cracking was ozone cracking and that the tires were okay, consumer replaced tires at his cost.

Pe00 020; was traveling about 45mph on highway and heard a noise. Lost control of the vehicle, and the vehicle rolled and hit a enbankment. Tire was a firestone, wilderness at, p23575r15.

Pe00 020, consumer was pulling inside of a gas station and noticed that vehicle was pulling to left. He looked down and noticed that left tire was flat. Consumer took it to another place. Tread was beginning to separate. Firestone, wilderness#at, p26575r15. There were no injuries. Dot w29v1pk207.

After market tire, p225/70r14 size. Tread on tires have started to separate in center of tire. Firestone wilderness ht tires, dot number vnfc1p4218, consumer states tire on left front is separating and tires have already been replaced, consumer found out her tires were separating when she took one it that was flat.

Pe00 020; consumer was traveling about 60mph on highway towing motor home. Motor home was trembling. Consumer was able to pull over to center lane, and noticed that right passenger's tire tread had separated from vehicle. Firestone, wilderness#at, 16 inch, dot w2901rf089,there were no injuries. Wheel was damaged so badly that another tire could not be mounted on it.

During highway driving, at the speed limit of 75mph, left rear tire lost tread. Incident occurred approximately 9pm on west-bound interstate 76 in colorado, near the brighton exit. (dot number: w29v 1pk tiresize: 265/75x15).

Consumer received recall notice to replace firestone wilderness at tires. Consumer had tires replaced at local firestone merchant with bridgestone wilderness at 15 inch tires. Soon after, consumer received another recall notice stating that the bridgestone tires were also insufficient and needed to be replaced. However, dealership refused to replace bridgestone wilderness at tires that were replaced by firestone because the tires were part of the firestone recall. Consumer is seeking authorization from dealership to have tires replaced.

Firestone wilderness ht tire p225/70r15 dot w2uu1p0069 was causing a noise, so consumer pulled over to see right rear tire experienced tread separation, firestone stated they would replace 1 tire, however consumer states all tires are starting to experience similar problems with tread, firestone will not assist unless tires are on a recall list.

Tread separation while driving at slow speed, firestone would not cover this tire under recall. I'ver retained possesion of tire and have photos to document the condition. (dot number: w2hlipy386 tiresize: p23575r15).

While driving the truck, the right front wilderness ht tire blew out due to tread separation causing damage to the vehicle.

Consumer replaced firestone tires (p235/75r15) due to recall 00t005, however has not yet received reimbursement.

Tire tread separated from the core of the tire. Replaced 4 of 5 tires. I was able to stop and replace defective tire. No firestone store in winnwmucca. Went to Ford & they sent me to les schwab. Tire not on recall list. (dot number: w2hfipj077 tiresize: p215/75r15).

Right rear firestone wilderness at tire experienced tread separation, consumer is requesting reimbursement for the replacement tires, tire size p245/75r16, dot# w270irf398.

Consumer had recalled (00t-005) tires replaced and request reimbursement for all five tires and time spent calling and waiting for repair. Nlm.

The consumer replaced all four firestone p225/70 r14 98r tires on the vehicle due to tread separation, the tires are not included in the recall (00t-005), however consumer is requesting reimbursement.

While traveling and after parking noticed tire tread was separated. Tires were not part of recall.

Pe00 020; consumer said that there was a nail in the rear front tire. He took it to a tire place and said that tire tread was beginning to come apart. Tire was firestone#at, p23575r16.

The right rear tire separated and blew off, just like the ones in the recall! fortunately, I was not traveling very fast and was able to control the truck and get it pulled off the road on an embankment. I was not injured, but felt this information should be made public, so this tire of firestones can be investigated also, before there are innocent people hurt or killed. Consumer is not satisfied with the recall reimbursement for the replacement firestone tires (00t-005), the recall notification stated $140 per tire and the consumer only received $100 per tire.

One tire has split in tread 60% of circumference. Others have smaller cracks/splits. ( dot number: vn08 tire size: p23570r16 ).
