One of four original tires that came with my 2004 Ford Ranger edge truck with 4. 0l engine failed and was replaced. The tire was goodyear wrangler rts (235/75 x 15) with only 22,852 miles on it. The tire sidewall exhibited crack lines all along the upper part of the sidewall and I took it to the tire shop for repairs the tire started bulging out along one section of the cracks and their was massive leak of air. I was concerned that other three tires would eventually blow out so I replaced all four tires with a brand new ones.

2004 Ranger XLT passenger rear tire came apart. While the vehicle was in motion, the right rear tire had come off on the highway. The vehicle severely swerved onto the shoulder then had come back across the center lane. The blown tire looked as if had come unplugged at the sidewall. The consumer found that the right front tire had a buldge on the sidewall. Two tires failed in the course of days. Continental contitrac.

Twice in the last six months, I have experienced a total sidewall failure on the michilen ltx a/t tire size 75/15. Both instances happened on an interstate and almost caused me to lose control of the pick-up I was driving.

Really rough ride, and after looking at the sidewalls, tires have moderate amount of cracks and good size slits on the sidewalls, makes the whole truck shake at just about any speed.

While driving at 65 mph, the right rear tire blew out (blowout was a sidewall). Up to this point, tires had worn evenly. Two months prior, all tires were checked by various tire shops as I was thinking of replacing the tires. No one could find any evidence of wear and recommended I keep these tires as they were in such good shape. Rear tires now show evidence of wear that is not visible on front tires.

My passenger side tire blewout last night on my way home from work on the i10. What I found strange is that the tire came apart in the middle of the sidewall and is cut in a perfect circle. The rubber left on the rim on the side that came apart looks to be about 2 inches out from the rim all the way round. With the current tire recall I thought that I should report this sence I see web sites with others complaining about this modle of firestone tire that is not part of the recall. Another thing I found interesting is that I can't find what I would call a standard size anywhere on my tire instead it reads "27x8. 50r14lt" shouldn't it start with a 2?? number. Thanks brass.

It was 4 a. M. On i65 interstate going hunting . I was traveling @ 75 mph and my right rear tire blew and caused me to swerve from the right shoulder to the medium and back to the right shoulder before I could gain control. If it had been a front tire or I had been in some traffic there would have been abad wreck. The tread completely separated from the sidewalls for no apparent reason the tire was shreaded before I could stop. I can supply a digital picture by e-mail if needed. I reported it to the local fire stone dealer and all he did was give me a customer relations # to call. (dot number: w2uu1po-20 tiresize: p225/70r15).
I was driving my Ford Ranger XLT 1999 pickup on a four lane road on 28 July 2001. The road was dry and air temperature was about 80 degrees farenheit. I was traveling at approximately 60 miles an hour when my passenger rear tire blewout. The whole tread separated rom the sidewalls. I took the tire to the firestone dealer and the employee didn't think it was a big issue and offered a replacement for $50. Although this tire isn't one of the recalled ones, I feel that the failure I experienced is similar to the wilderness at failures. My concern is that these tires aren't safe. I replace all the tires on my pickup at my expense. Fortunately, in this case the road traffic was light and I was able to coast to a stop withou applyin the brakes. The situation might have been differnent had the blowout occured five minutes later when I would have been on interstate 95 driving 70 miles per hour on a crowed road. I am submitting this report because there might be problem with this model of tires. I don't think the firestone dealership did their job and weren't interested in any of the details. Dan pietz. My wife and I were driving s/b in the carpool lane on the 605 freeway at 65/70 mph when we heard a funny noise coming from the right rear tire. Thinking we had a flat, we started to move over to the right and exit the freeway. At around lane 3 I completely lost control of the vehicle. It fish-tailed twice and then flipped over and slid into the iceplant along the side of the freeway. The truck then righted itself and we ended up facing n/b on the shoulder. We could have easily been killed!!! my wife sustained some bumps and bruises but is otherwise ok. I walked away without a scratch. On inspecting the tire (which we now have in our possesion) we noticed that the sidewall had completely separated from the rest of the tire!! my wife and I are convinced that these firestone wilderness ht tires are unsafe!!! we have photos of the truck and we saved the tire. If you have any questions - please call us anytime. Thanks - wallace (dot number: w2uu tiresize: p225/70r15).
Driving on I-17 nb north of carefree hwy at 75 mph. Tire made a high pitched noise, which sounded like wind buffeting the truck bed. This lasted for about 10 seconds and then the right rear tire exploded and we were immediately driving on the rim. The entire sidewall separated from the tread. I had previously tried to get the dealer to replace the tires because of excessive vibration at high speed. It felt like the steel belts had separated. They offered to sell me new tires, but refused to replace these. Unable to afford new tires I continued to drive with these. I have several pictures of the failed tire. (dot number: w2uu tiresize: p225/70r15).
Sidewall separation typical of other recalled tires. Please recall these ASAP. (tiresize: 225/70r/15).
The right rear tire sidewall completely separated form the remaining part of the tire on 4th of July, 2001, as my family and I were returning home at approx. 8:25 pm on I-37 n to san antonio. Before the tire seperated, my fiance and I heard a very loud grinding noise- during which time I immediately let off the gas. About 30 seconds after we first heard the noise, the truck violently fishtailed in the rear end, and I proceeded to gently apply the brakes until we came to a stop. That night while I was working my nightshift- I contacted Ford motor company who told me to speak to my dealership. The following morning, my dealership informed me that this new tire had seperated due to a small puncture in the tread. Firestone refuses to replace this new tire, as this truck was sold to me without road hazard coverage on this tire. I am very upset because this is a safety issue- I have had other flats on other vehicle that I owned without the tires seperating while driving. Please investigate this matter- I fail to believe that this is the normal reaction of a tire with a minor 2mm punction in the tread. My tire mechanic where I took this tire to obtain a 3rd opinion agrees with my assessment in this matter. I value his judgment above all, he has nothing to gain by giving me a false statement, whereas my dealership, and firestone obviously have plenty to lose in admitting that this tire may be a manufacture's defect. (dot number: w2uuipo140 tiresize: p225/70r15).

When rotating the tires on our pickup, we noticed cracks/splits on the sidewalls of three of the tires. These tires continue to lose air pressure. We believe this is due to the cracks/splits in the sidewalls. We visited a firestone dealer, who claims the tires are not defective, and will not replace them. (dot number: vd70 tiresize: p245/75r16).
Tire went flat, pulled over changed tire, no visible damage(ie. Nails, cuts etc), took to revel's Chrysler in starke FL. , for repair at which time under less than 20 psi tire blew at tread/sidewall attach pt. , further inspection found bulges/bubbles inside of tire tread area. I still have all tires. I of course changed out with non firestone tires. Have contacted firestone dealer, referred to local distict rep, further refered to regional rep in atlanta and have not heared from since. Seems like they just dont give a darn!
