I was driving my 2007 Ford range with only 12,920 miles on it when my right front tire suddenly lost air. This caused the vehicle to slide sideways on the snowy road. I was able to regain control because no other cars were around. When the tire was inspected the cause of the sudden deflation was determined to be a severed tire valve stem. The rest of the tire valves were inspected and 2 more valves were found cracked severely. These were original valves and tires installed by Ford at the factory.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Ranger. The vehicle has four michelin xc lt4 tires, size 225/70r15. While driving 15 mph, the contact heard a thumping sound. He pulled over and noticed that one of the tires had a faulty valve stem. A nearby mechanic confirmed the faulty valve stem. The tire was replaced at the owner's expense. After reviewing online complaints, the contact noticed that this was a common issue for michelin tires. The failure and current mileages were 156,651.

Tire deflated due to a cracked valve stem. A second deflation three days later on another of the tires. That also had a cracked valve stem. I decided to have the remaining two valve stems replaced as I felt this was too much of a coincidence. I had the work done at a local tire shop. I own a 2007 Ford Ranger.
A tire valve stem, # dill 414, was leaking air around the base. This valve stem came on a brand new 2005 Ford Ranger, purchased in July of 2005, which is prior to the present recall period.
