Warning Light On Problems of Ford Ranger

Air bag warning light has recently illuminated. Independent mechanic scan tool reading on 3/15/24 shows the front passenger airbag to have completely failed and become inoperable. Vehicle has not been involved in any impacts or collisions.

I had the air bags replaced, after new airbags were installed. Air bag warning light was flashing, code 27, which means passenger air bag bypass module # f81b-14bz68-ad. Module had a bad indicator lamp which in turns disables the entire air bag system. So in my opinion Ford should repair this so that I can have air bags to protect me. With this lamp not fixed I have no air bags, so the recall was useless. I need this fixed and think it should be considered a safety issue along with the air bag recall. I spoke to Ford and they informed me that it was or maybe is an issue, no commitment there. I cannot afford the inspection costs but you tube gave me all the information I need to know, the $89 for inspection and $125. For parts and installation are way out of my budget. This is a safety matter that needs to be addressed. Yes this is a constant condition to the Ford Ranger as it sites now. The you tube site I used www,youtube. Was in an accident and the airbag didn't deploy did some research on the internet and found out there is a wire under the driver's seat that is too short. If someone tall like me pushes the seat back all the way it stretches the wire and causes the safety system to error and shut off. An airbag warning light lights up on the dashboard. Ford issued a bulletin to the dealers and are well aware of the problem. I've read cases of people being charged $600 to fix it.

I have a 2003 Ford Ranger in which the air bag warning light was malfunctioning. At different times it would come on, stay on for a long time, weeks, then would go off again. I took it to the dealer who found a service bulletin that directed them to clean wires, wrap wires and re-route wires under the seat. It had to do with the safety belt retentioner. I do not know if this was actually a safety issue or not. No one would tell me how many Ford Rangers had this problem, if this would cause any failure in the seat belt or the air bag. Even though I felt this was a failure of the air bag and safety belt system was charged for this repair. (I was still under Ford's 50000 safety system warranty. ) I am concerned about the cost, but I am also concerned that the pretentioner was not replaced and whether this will occur again.
