I have a 2004 Ford Ranger p/u that has a problem with the cruise control. From time to time (and getting more frequent)the cruise will not work and when this happens also the horn is inoperable. I know that Ford has a recall for certain vehicles with cruise problems , but my truck VIN does not fall under those being recalled. I contacted Ford customer service ,they informed me to take it to a dealer as it wasn't covered. I called a local dealer service and the service manager said to me OH yeah we get that problem and 9 out of 10 times it's a spring in the steering column that wraps the wires and along with no cruise or horn you also lose your driver air bag protection!!!now this is a real problem,as how many people do you know test their horn before driving out the drive and for that matter really how many people even use cruise control on a regular basis? I know in my case that if it does go in cruise and I am going down the nys thruway and have to tap my brake for slow traffic and then tap resume after traffic clears and cruise does not function that tells me my horn isn't going to work and my life could be in danger if I was involved in an accident because my air bag is also inoperable.

The contact owns a 2000 Ford Ranger. The contact was using his vehicle to pull another vehicle out of a ditch, when both frontal air bags deployed. The manufacturer advised the contact to take his vehicle to an authorized Ford dealer for a diagnosis. The dealer would not offer any assistance because the vehicle exceeded 50,000 miles and was out of warranty. The contact stated that the cost for the diagnosis was over $2,000; therefore, it would not be done. The insurance company stated that the deployment was not due to a collision and they were not willing to investigate. The contact sustained injuries to his left arm. The speed was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 130,000.

I was in a front end crash in my 2005 Ford Ranger which had over $8000 in repairs. My (air bags)did not work. I had it at a Ford dealership to check it out. There was to me that the g force was not enough for them to deploy. I would like to if that is correct. They told me it cost too much to replace the air bags!.

I was driving my 2003 Ford Ranger XLT when I lost control and rolled the vehicle 4 - 5 times. I was wearing my seat belt/shoulder harness, but the airbags on neither side deployed, even thought the front end and cab was destroyed. The truck was considered a total loss and I am now faced with rehab for up to four weeks for sprains and tissue damage to my right shoulder.

On June 13, 2006 approx. 3:00 pm my father was critically injured in a rollover accident just outside of moses lake washington. My father still remains hosptalized after having to have an ear reattached, severe head lacerations, a broken eye socket, and broken breast bone, and having the skin torn off his left hand. The washington state patrol says according to witnesses that his truck flipped 3-4 times causing total destruction of the truck. At no time during the rollover and destruction of the trucks frontend did the air bags deploy. This was a brand new 2006 Ford Ranger with less than 2,500 miles on it. If it was not for a passing nurse and emt the state patrol says my father would have likely died. I called both the dealer, and sent an email to the Ford motor company, both declined to comment. I am very disturbed that vehicles are being sold with such problems. Sincerely, patrick martin.

Driving along highway in phx az. Lady collided with another vehicle. She was spun around in a circle sending her sideways across 3 lanes of traffic in reverse. Ending up in my lane, on the far right, driving around 65 mph I stepped on my brakes, skidding into her drivers side rear corner head on directly in the center of my truck. My bumper was creased in the center, pushing it back into my radiator, front grill was crushed, hood was smashed upward, windsheild was broken, both front parts of the frame were bent inward towards the center, steering wheel was bent at the top forward and the center of the steering wheel was cracked to the point that I was unable to steer the truck as the steering wheel just spun around without turning the front wheels. I was wearing my seat belt as was my 5year old daughter. I was thrown agianst the steering wheel and my knees hit the dash board under the steering wheel. I feel that my driver airbag should have gone off preventing me from hitting the steering wheel and the dash board. The truck has not been fixed as of yet, as I am waiting on the other drivers insurance company to have it appraised for damages. I have been seeing a chiropractor for my back, shoulders, arms, neck. Constant numbness in my arms and hands, as well as pain in my back around my shoulders. My knees are constantly sore and occaisionally swollen. I am unable to bend down at my knees because of the pain when standing back up, and fear of dislocating my knees which has happen already. I am unable to come up with funds to see a knee specialist. I was laid off from my work since I couldnt climb a ladder and install signs, or work in the shop doing sign manufacturing, unable to stand for any length of time. Unable to activily search for work in flagstaff, because I had to move in with relatives who live in munds park, az. Which is 28 miles away from city limits. Nothing but forestry between towns. Loss of work and transportation.
