1 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2011 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 03/25/2021

I was notified in April 2021 that there was a safety issue with the driver side airbag. The notification stated that when parts were available Ford motor company would send me a letter to contact the dealer to have the repairs made. I have contacted my dealer at various times and the parts are still not available. I believe that the manufacturer has exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. I have not experienced a failure. Mar 25,2021 manufacturer recall number21s12 NHTSA recall number21v158 recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available summary driver airbag inflator replacement.

Failure Date: 04/24/2018

Takata recall - we have been unable to get the vehicle repaired by our dealer despite being notified by Ford that parts are now available for this specific vehicle and VIN (see attached notices). We have opened a case with Ford. We have been unable to use our vehicle to transport anyone in the passenger seat for well over a year and although we have made repeated requests to our dealer, Ford of escondido, we have not gotten any satisfaction. We believe the vehicle is unsafe to drive and want to get this inflator replaced as soon as possible.

6 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2007 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 04/19/2018

Takata recall Ford dealers have repeatedly told me, as late as 4/19/2018, recall airbag parts are "not available yet" for my Ford Ranger, despite an email received from Ford saying I need to get a recall completed and, "your front passenger side airbag inflator may violently explode in the event of a crash. When this happens metal fragments can hit the driver or passengers resulting in serious injury or death. " the dealer service department told me to "call back in a few weeks. ".

7 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2011 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 04/18/2018

"takata recall" I received a letter from Ford dated April 2018 stating that the passenger airbag inflator was now available. I called mullinax Ford in kissimmee, florida and was told that Ford has not sent the inflators to them yet. I have been waiting for over a year to have this fixed.

8 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2007 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 04/16/2018

Takata recall 16v-384 I received a letter from Ford on 4/16/18 stating that "a repair for your 2007 Ford Rangers airbag inflator is available", and to call my dealer to set up an appointment to have it fixed. I have now called 4 dealerships and none of them have the parts to fix the airbag. I received the same letter from Ford for my 2009 Mercury milan over 2 years ago and I'm still waiting for parts for that vehicle. Wtf!!! why send a letter if there isn't any parts at dealerships??? I do think that Ford motor company needs to be stepped on by the us government to get them off their collective gluteus maximuses and get this problem fixed or else face heavy penalties. Usually, when uncle sam calls, things get done. My 2009 Mercury milan has 15000 miles on it, has not been out of the garage since sept. 2017 because I'm afraid to drive it. I've been told by Ford employees that I shouldn't worry about the airbag exploding, but, that does little to assuage my fear. Now my other vehicle(the only one I have left) has the same problem and Ford is already starting with their fake recall letters & lack of parts problem. This is bull-sh-t!!! so much for "buying american". . . . . . . Maybe its time to go shopping for that Honda/Mitsubishi/Toyota/Hyundai.

9 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2010 Ford Ranger

10 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2004 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 04/13/2018

There is a recall that has went in to effect on 12/13/2017 from the Ford motor company (#17s42) stating manufacturer safety recall issued for airbag inflator replacement. But, the last 2 months I've contacted my local Ford dealerships numerous times about a remedy and when the part will be in to replace and repair this I have been told they are uncertain when they will be available. This made me wonder how something this serious of a safety risk and description of the recall stating "if an inflator explodes metal fragments could strike the driver or other occupants causing serious injury or death. This free repair is a final repair for both the driver and passenger frontal airbags on your vehicle. Important, the airbag inflators in your vehicle must be replaced even if they were previously replaced under any other recall. " this gives me a great deal of concern as this is my transportation commuting to work. My vehicle is a 2004 Ford Ranger. I just contacted Ford manufacturer over the phone and was told to call local dealerships and was not given an answer. What is my next step? I just hope I am not involved in an accident where my life or the life of my girlfriend and unborn child are at risk.

11 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2006 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 04/05/2018

Takata recall: air bag inflators were replaced on 4/5/18. Air bag warning light has been lit ever since. I called Ford customer service and eddy(id# 73042) wants to charge me for the repeat repair. I have a customer complaint open, cas 14958575-p7n4c3. I followed up with the dealer and got the same response. The Ranger is flashing a code 34(driver air bag). Am I supposed to be content that the killer air bag was change for a defective air bag? dealer invoice the date as 3/5/18, not correct.

12 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2008 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

Takata recall I received a 2nd letter from Ford dated April 2018 telling me that 'parts are now available to repair your vehicle'. I have contacted 3 area dealers here in no. California and none of them have parts or can estimate when they will be available. This whole scenario started over 2 years ago and is still ongoing. Ford is definitely not doing enough to solve this dilemma and playing with people's lives via a possible faulty inflator. I appreciate all that NHTSA has done in this matter to date, but more pressure must be put on Ford to expedite this repair process.

13 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2004 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 03/19/2018

Airbag inflators - January 2018 I received in the mail safety recall notice 17s42/NHTSA recall 17v787 and 17v788. I called chapman Ford located at 3951 columbia avenue, columbia, PA in January and they told me they do not have the parts. They told me to call in 30 days. I called again in February and they told me to call them in 30 days again. I called them again on March 19, 2018 and they do not have the parts and have no idea when they will be getting them in. I called chapman Ford located at 1485 manheim pike, lancaster, PA left several messages and they never returned my call. In the meantime, I am driving an unsafe vehicle. It appears the dealerships are clueless on the safety recall notice and do not care about their customer's safety. It has been three months and I am not getting any answers on when my vehicle will be repaired. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, patricia m. Wallace.

14 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2004 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 03/12/2018

Takata inflators my local dealer tells me Ford is very slow getting parts to them. The service person seemed frustrated. Apparently this is an ongoing problem but yet Ford keeps sending me reminders for the repair.

15 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2006 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 03/08/2018

"takata recall" Ford motor company sent me a recall notice early in 2018, telling me that my Ranger was undriveable due to high risk takata airbag inflators. The notice told me to contact my dealer, schedule an appointment for recall 18s02 and that they would arrange to have it picked up or towed. I was not to drive it to the dealer. The notice said I would be provided a loaner if needed. I called the nearest Ford dealer (great lakes Ford in muskegon, mi). I was told by their employee to contact eagle towing and have my car towed to the dealership, which I did. The car was towed to the dealership (after they were closed) and the tow truck driver demanded I pay him and get reimbursement from the dealership. Since the dealership had told me to use this tow company and the recall notice said Ford would pay for it, I thought getting reimbursed would be easy. Wrong. After almost a year and many phone calls, emails and 1 letter to the dealership I have received nothing. Today the dealership offered to pay me half of the cost I incurred to have the Ranger towed. I refused their offer. I believe it is clearly immoral for Ford to tell me to have the vehicle towed for a required recall and then refuse to reimburse me when I did exactly what they told me to do, but I do not know if what they have done to me is illegal. I am writing to the NHTSA to see if there are applicable rules/laws requiring the manufacturer to honor their promise to make repairs required by the NHTSA to my vehicle at no cost to me the owner. Thank you, I appreciate your assistance in helping me understand this process which does not (to me) seem to be working the way it should. If it is pertinent, the towing cost $185. 40 because it is a sparsely populated farming community and the nearest dealership was over 20 miles away. I did not need and did not request a loaner vehicle.

Failure Date: 01/22/2018

Takata recall I just received my second recall notice from Ford about the takata recall. The first one arrived over a year ago. I made an appointment to have the repair made. When I arrived at the dealer I was then told that there were parts for only half of the inflators on the truck. They would make the repair on the passenger side that they had the parts for and I would have to bring the truck back when I received notice that the parts were available. I just received a second notice saying that both inflators needed to be replaced and the parts were available. Our dealer is unable to locate replacement takata airbag inflators. For this vehicle. Apparently a remedy is "not yet available". 23 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2008 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 01/11/2018

Takata inflators. Despite my being notified that Ford would replace airbag(s) through my local dealership, and despite my repeated calls to my local dealership, where I bought the vehicle, there has been zero response. Dealership says it has been waiting for parts, ie, defective airbag replacements, since last quarter, which is when Ford apparently told dealership they would get them. Dealership has not gotten any airbag replacements for my Ranger. People have died. People are continuing to die. This is unacceptable. This airbag that is killing people must be fixed by Ford ASAP.

31 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2008 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 11/18/2017

"takata recall" 17s01 this complaint is not inregards to an accident that has happened but the lack of action by Ford motor company and tk holdings inc to timely replace a defective airbag inflator. I rcvd a letter from Ford motor CO on 3-6-17 stating I will be sent a letter to inform me when parts are available and to contact my dealer to schedule a repair. Being tired of waiting to be informed by Ford motor CO, I called my dealer for more information, or to see if they have any parts. I was told they do not have parts. I asked the dealer representative if they had replaced airbag inflators on similar vehicles, and they stated that they had. My complaint is that I'm tired of waiting for this part to be replaced. I want it replaced immediately. I don't have time to wait until some other vehicle hits my vehicle causing the airbag to deploy, simmultaneously throwing metal fragments into the cabin and killing or injuring me or my family. I am 59 years old and I have a lifetime accident free driving record. I also received a flyer notice from tk holdings inc. During the first week in November 2017 claiming that if I don't register my email address with them at tkrestructuring. Com/ppic' by December 27, 2017 that they may be discharged from " all indebtedness and liability with respect to such a claim. How much time do I have to keep spending to get this problem fixed?.

Takata recall I have not had a safety problem yet. However, my vehicle has been in a hot humid environment in georgia, USA. I fear that it may have a problem if not fixed. I have contacted two Ford dealers and neither would agree to fix the inflator problem and could not tell me when it would be fixed. I want the takata air bag inflator problem fixed!.

35 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2008 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 10/27/2017

"takata recall" notified in July 2016 that passenger airbag was a safety hazard. Told they would call when the part was available. Called Ford customer service in June 2017 and told the parts were still not available and this was not really a safety hazard and I would be contacted when the parts are available. Received a letter today from Ford that they want me to voluntarily participate in an "important safety research study" to "replace the takata driver airbag inflator free"/ "this is not a safety recall". So they have the parts to replace the driver side that has not been recalled and after 16 months Ford still hasn't the parts to replace the passenger airbag that is a safety hazard. Something is wrong at Ford/.
