I took the vehicle to southgate Ford on March 15, 2013, to have them analyze the check engine light which came on during the week. I drive only a few miles per week but didn't want to take a chance with this warning. Southgate Ford turned me away on Friday afternoon to return on Monday, March 18th stating: "they are too busy and the check engine light is of little concern and to return on Monday". Within 2 miles of leaving the dealership heading north on fort street, I was unable to bring the 2004 Ford Taurus to a stop at a red light. The Taurus engine raced and roared at over 4,000 rpms and reached speeds between 45 and 50 miles per hour. I tried to brake with one foot and then two feet. The brakes could not bring the Taurus to a stop and it felt like the brakes were pushing back toward me. I swerved to the left to avoid hitting the car in front of me and crossed over the median to southbound fort street. I attempted to reach a parking lot to avoid oncoming traffic as the engine continued to race and roar. The brakes could not control the car. I missed the entrance of the parking lot by a few feet and hit the curb. The impact of hitting the curb threw my body toward the passenger side of the car. The car continued to lunge forward until it hit the brick building in the lot at approximately 47 miles per hour. The air bags never deployed in this head-on collision with a brick building. I have sustained bruising from my left ear down to my knees and mulitple fractures in my right wrist. Please do something to not let this happen to anyone else. How many people have to die to have recall notices issued?.

My daughter had an accident in a 2002 Ford Taurus se where she impacted a concrete barrier head on and hard enough to total the vehicle which was owned and insured by me. The worse of the impact was on the drivers side front end. Only the passenger airbag deployed with no one seated there, but her drivers side airbag did not deploy at all. This resulted in a concussion and facial lacerations and bruising when her face hit the steering wheel. The seat belt restraining system failed to act properly to protect her from this injury. I have contacted Ford, but they don't care and they advised me that this is how it is designed to work. So it's accepteable to Ford that their restraining system allows injuries? I hope that she does not suffer from brain trauma and I hope that the wound heals with minimul scarring. This is unbelievable. If there is a class action suit involved, I would like to participate.
Driving 2 lane road heading east, saw a car on the our right trying to come out of drive, kept going back and forth finally gave up, by the time we turned to look straight a truck had stopped with his directionals wanting to go left into his drive, we hit him. Seat belts were on, but the air bags did not deploy. . Husband driving, got a warning from police, failure to stop properly. We were sore from impact due to seat belts but the truck driving went to hospital for a check-up, we didn't. Car was totaled by the auto body shop. . .

I noticed that my airbag light was illuminated and blinking. I took it to my Ford dealership and they said there was nothing they could do, it was a known problem, and totally not fixable. I was told to turn the car off and turn it back on. I did this, and each time the car stalled. I finally went online to see what the light was about and it seems that the airbags may not deploy on impact. I brought the car back to the dealership and told them this and ask them to look into it. Once again, there was nothing they could do. I was told to just not get into an accident. I finally got rid of the car due to the lack of safety when the car was had 145,038 miles.
I was involved in a rearend accident recently on hwy 4 e in pittsburgh near the loveridge freeway exit. My vehicle was hit at a speed hard enough to throw my body backwards then forward which caused my face to hit the steering wheel. This force caused a head injury, facial laceration, facial contusion etc. And the airbag never deployed.

Have driven a 2003 Ford Taurus - new never wrecked. Had a car wreck - head on collision and air bag did not deploy. The passenger side did deploy but had no passenger. Car was totaled but kept pictures of this. Never received any recall notice so I don't think that was the problem.

My mother had a horrifying experience and a accident while driving my 2000 Ford Taurus. As she was putting car in drive, when leaving restaurant the car suddenly went out of control and sped up on its own and even while she had her foot on the brake all the way to floor car would not stop, the accelerator was stuck and she was terrified as she was heading head on to the restaurants brick building where she ended up crashing into and people inside restaurant said they were hurt as well as my car got badly damaged and the building. My mother and the people inside are lucky to be alive because of this problem with the gas pedal and brakes this could have been a deadly accident. My mother is bruised and still very sore from the accident and the impact was so hard when she crashed into the brick building that both front air bags failed to deploy. Please someone needs to look into this because this I understand that this has happen to others who own 2000 Ford Taurus. I called Ford and they said they had a recall on this vehicle in 2002 and the problem was corrected but here it is 2009 and it has happened again so something isn't right with these cars and it shouldn't have to take someone to die before Ford realizes that this problem is still happening and they need to do something about this. There are several complaints about this same problem. And if Ford said they corrected the problem in 2002 then why is it still happening??????????? please do something before its to late. I was really upset after reading all the complaints about 2000 Ford Taurus owners who are having the same problem with there car and this was after the 2002 recall when Ford claim they fixed it. I wish I knew this before I brought the car or even let my mother drive it because I would never have put her life or others in jeopardy like that. Tow truck had to pull my car from building and then it had to be towed away.

Driving on a straight away at about 55 mph. , the car suddenly pulled to the left. The driver could not regain control of the vehicle, which resulted in a rollover accident. Driver and passenger did not hear anything prior to the sudden pull. The car spun around and hit the gravel on the side of the road then continued to roll down the hill. At least 2 rollovers. Air bags did not deploy. I'm concerned there might have been a problem with suspension or coil springs suddenly blowing out a tire. I will be contacting a mechanic on Monday and schedule an inspection. Car is totaled. Insurance does not cover vehicle, but fortunately covers medical and liability. Fortunately the driver and passenger, at this point, appear to have walked away relatively unharmed.

On February 10th, 2008, my front windshield suddenly shattered, leaving a hole in it's center and "crackling" the remaining part of the window, making it impossible for me to see through it. I immediately slammed on the brakes (there were no other cars on the road at the time) causing the car to jerk violently to the right 90 degrees and slam head first into an electrical utility box. The car continued to spin around which drove it over an island in the center of the road and into a road sign and while still spinning, smashed into a utility pole next to the utility box. During this entire incident, I could not see anything through the windshield and was not aware what the car was hitting or what direction it was moving. When the car hit the utility box, I was traveling about 35mph. After rebounding from the utility box into the center island and spinning to the right side of the road where I hit the utility pole, the vehicle finally came to rest. During the spinning and hitting and bouncing (a light word for what was happening) the shoulder harness on my 1999 Ford Taurus se failed to hold me securely against my seat and the air bags failed to deploy. It has now been 49 weeks since this happened and after many communications between myself and antelope valley Ford in lancaster, California, where I purchased the car in March 2005 as a pre-owned vehicle with 52,000 miles on it, and correspondence with Ford motor CO. In dearborne, michigan, to whom I sent all requested documents and copies of letters to av Ford the 4 times I tried to get them to fix an alignment problem causing it to pull right, especially when braking. I was told by the service manager "car will always pull to right due to front wheel drive torque". I asked for my $5,000. 00 down payment and release from the contract. I was ignored. Ford motor CO. Said not enough impact for airbags. The car has been repaired. I now know the computer module for airbag use was never set, but no dash warning light.
