Air Bag Problems of Ford Taurus - part 1

Airbags seats and seatbelts useless for 6'8" 375lbs adult man. I sit within 6" of the steering wheel airbag the seatbelt goes across my bicep not my shoulder and the seat itself only goes up to the middle of my back, the head rest is between my shoulders. Why is there no exemption for giants and airbags and seatbelts? by having these "safety features" in my vehicle, my life is put in more danger than other people that are normal sized. If I ever get into an accident and the airbags or seatbelt injure me I will be suing you for forcing me to use these dangerous for me things. One size does not fit all when you are a giant, and your regulations make being in a car more deadly to me.

On June 23, 2024 this 2004 Ford Taurus was in a front end collision at freeway speeds of 60 mph or higher. The driver airbag did not deploy and the driver died as a result of severe trauma to head and chest.

O2 system failed. System checked. The service light is still on. Agents assisted with inspecting. Dealership had the vehicle non-recall. Seat belt light appeared and agent was contacted. System is collected for revisiting my claim.

Airbags failed to deploy in a right front collision with a deer. Banged head off steering wheel. Geico repaired over 8000 in damage. Took 19 days to repair.

The front airbag light keeps coming on.

I turned left after stopping at a four-way stop sign intersection. I crashed into a parked car waiting its turn but I did not see until I was upon it and it was too late to swerve away. My car's air bags inflated. My wrist was broken. My car was declared totaled by my insurer although I could not have been speeding since I had just stopped at the four-way stop sign, waited my turn, and turned my car left onto a street that runs slightly downhill. I am still trying to comprehend how my wrist on my right hand was broken since both of my hands were on the steering wheel at the point of impact but a trip to the emergency room proved my suddenly limp and suddenly pain-filled arm meant I had broken my wrist. It is not the first time I have been in my 2016 Ford Taurus and not noticed a car until it was close upon me-- typically though a car(s) has approached me from my rear right and I noticed it in a split second and avoided an accident; but this is my first collision accident in decades. I need to point that fact out. I don't know if the car has a blind spot. I don't know if the air bag broke my wrist. I don't know why my wrist was broken because both of my hands were on the steering wheel during my collision on may 9, 2022. There were not any warning messages that I recall seeing or hearing. My insurer acquired right of attorney over my vehicle and towed it away. To my knowledge, no one has inspected the car but I suspect there are actually several blind spots in the 2016 Ford Taurus. I owned a 1998 Ford Taurus before I bought my 2016 Ford Taurus but never had a collision in my 1998 Ford Taurus or any of the problems I've just described.

I had started breaking for impact of a dog on the freeway (had started tapping my breaks as I was slowing down, as there was no way to avoid the dog)…I was hit from the back by a f350 (pulling a full-size horse trailer w/ living quarters & 3 to 4 horses), which was traveling 70 to 75 mph. Then I spun 2 to 3 times and was then hit in the front by a tundra w/ a flatbed trailer on it. My car came to a complete stop as the engine stopped. I was facing the opposite direction. No air bags deployed! luckily I was wearing my seatbelt!! the perfect vehicle was a total loss.

Sensor in seat belt fails air bag light comes on air bags won't deploy there is hundreds of complaints on forums about this issue Ford knows about it amd said they will not issue a recall steering and suspension yo hear loud popping steering locks up due to rack and pinion failure the popping is faulty upper strut mounts Ford is also aware of this there is thousands of reports all over the forums Ford refuses to even look into it saying its not a dangerous concern steering will lock up tight at speeds of 70mph no gaining control of it.

My brother was making a left turn at the intersection of 170th street. He had been traveling north on torrence avenue in lansing prior to the collision. He had come to a complete stop while waiting to safely complete a left turn to travel west on 170th street. As he proceeded through the intersection at 170th & torrence avenue,a southbound vehicle ran through the stop signal and collided with the 2014 Taurus vehicle ,my brother was driving. After the contact the air bags in the 2014 Ford Taurus did not deploy and the 2014 Ford Taurus had spun around facing south,when it came to a complete stop.

I had problems with my fuel injection for almost 2 years looked it up and even took it to 3 dealerships and a full services place all saying the same thing. So I looked it up and there was a recall for it and seatbelts and airbags but my VIN# wasn't on the list. Everyone I know who got a car like mines had the recall and was fixed. I am now paying out of pocket for the airbags and my radio and back cam now is acting crazy show upside down and the radio keep going out. I need some help can't afford all these issues with my car when they are on your recall list . Please if you can re-evaluate my number the back cam acts up when backing up everything is upside down. The fuel injection have problems when starting and while driving it will slow down then caught up and speed up. The airbags recently came out getting it fix by a body shop and paying out of pocket to keep my insurance from totaling it out. The seat belts keep locking up at times. Love my car please help if possible.

This vehicle was struck in an accident and no airbag was deployed. It was traveling through an intersection, when a 2012 Dodge ram 1500 turned in to the vehicle from the opposite direction left turn lane. The driver door had to be cut open to extract the driver. So the car was moving and the impact knocked this car in to another vehicle as well.

The contact did not recall if the brake pedal was depressed. The air bags did deploy however smoke was released from the air bag after it ruptured. The vehicle was towed to an auto body shop however the insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The impact of the crash was on the passenger's side of the vehicle. The contact sustained multiple internal injuries and a police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of this failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000. The contact was referencing NHTSA campaign number: 16v247000 (air bags) as a cause of the failure the vehicle was not included in the recall.

My 79 year old father-in-law was in a traffic accident yesterday September 5, 2019. He was at a stop sign in the city of portsmouth ohio. Upon taking off from a stop he was hit not by one car but two cars. My father in law has had this car since 2009 and they have always taken care of it. They only have this car. Anyway when he hit none of the air bags deployed, none. He hit the steering wheel so hard that we thought he was having a heart attack.

The vehicle was in motion and struck a vehicle in front of it at 20 mph and no airbags deployed.

Someone pulled out in front of me as I was slowing down to make a left turn. I t-boned their vehicle while going 35mph, resulting in a total loss for my 2000 Ford Taurus. (this was in 2018 so it was not a new car). My driver steering wheel airbag did not deploy. I was wearing my seat belt. I still have chest pains when I sneeze and cough, even 4 years later (in November 2022, at time of writing), and in the last year (2021) received a cortisone shot in my left shoulder. I was offered a neck brace in the ambulance and was prescribed an arm sling in the hospital. I was diagnosed with whiplash. I believe I was given pain medication. Someone from the NHTSA in indiana contacted me and we spoke briefly about it that week, so this may have been previously reported to this agency. I only found out this week that the 2000 Ford Taurus had a history of airbag issues, which is why I bring this up now. I think the car has already been scrapped, so no chance of examination unfortunately. As above, my safety was in jeopardy. Had I been going faster, I could have died. (apparently someone did die from a faulty Taurus front airbag. ) I, to this day, have chest pain down to my elbows when I sneeze or cough. My doctor says it's a musculoskeletal strain. Ford has not issued recalls for airbags. The vehicle was declared totaled on scene by the police officer and then towed by a towing service. The towing service said the undeployed airbag was "a ticking time bomb" and really unsafe to attempt to repair. I sent pictures to the at-fault driver's insurance, so it was also inspected by insurance. I do not remember any seeing warning messages. I would have checked any unfamiliar warnings or dash lights. Side note: for number of injured, I think I was the only one to take an ambulance. At-fault driver first hesitated to call 911, but eventually did. There were two people in his car, including himself: driver, and passenger in front seat.

Car accident and bag failed to deploy.

I I purchased this 2013 Ford Taurus sho awd twin turbo about 3 yrs ago used from the first owner so I'm the second owner. The car was in perfect condition. No accidents super clean totally loaded except no nav and screen controls for all the other cell phone apps and I even went for upgrade from sync 2 my touch w/no nav to the newest sync 3 3. 5 from a 2018 vehicle changed everything it works great. I can tell the car was taken care of by him he put very nice tsw wheels and very expensive continental contitrack tires that are abut 300. 00 a piece weathertech rain guards mats front and rear as well as the trunk. It was such a beatiful car. I bought it in the summer,when winter came all the problems started front suspension creaking struts no more back up camera working but fuzzy and upside down. And to replace it 300. 00 now and this is the kick in the ass my wife was driving with my 2 newborn twin grand daughters my 6 yr old niece as well as my 88 yr old mother just exiting off a jug handle thats how you make a left turn in the state of NJ,and it's a circle well she straight into the divider blowing out both front tires and cracking the left front rim and bending the right one. Lower front bumper valance as well as damage to the under carriage . I thank god that my family wasn't killed. I'm furious and I may be taking legal action holding Ford personally liable the recall with the steering needs t be taken care of by Ford always on its not drivable and unsafe.

Takata recall I contacted the local dealership about the unsafe airbags and they seemed to feel as if it was no big deal and told me that they did not have the parts to fix my airbags.

I was driving down the road and my air bag deployed on its own allmost causing me to wrech.

Takata recall since moving to the extreme heat 6 years ago (arizona), when turning my wheel sharply at times, sounds like rocks rolling around internally. Trying to find out if this may be a takata airbag. Called Ford today, and they cannot identify what airbag is in the vehicle with the VIN. Has there been other reports of this issue?.
