Was in a head on collision with another vechile air bag in steering wheel only came out airbag did not inflate at all I was hit hard enough the seat belt broke mechanical accident happen while vechile was in motion turning to get on highway.

Something is rattling inside my steering wheel behind the horn by the air bag. It sounds like a coin rattling around inside the sterring wheel when I make a turn. When I looked this up on line all I kept reading was it's a common problem but I didn't see anything about a recall. I'm afraid if that air bag was to go off that loose piece floating around in there could put a eye out or worse.

I check yearly for recalls on all my vehicles. In 2016 I found a recall on the driver frontal air bag. I notified gustafson Ford in kewanee IL 61443 where I purchased my vehicle . I pulled up the recall on my phone and showed them the recall. They told me they haven't received anything from Ford regarding this so until they do they can not fix it. Even thoughtheu can see Ford clearly states a recall on my vehicle. At that time my car was 8/9yrs old. I've asked them a few times since then and got the same answer from them. It's now 2019 and still the recall I brought to their attention iin 2016 is still not fixed. I also did not receive a letter from Ford informing me of the recall. What do I have to do to get this fixed ? I travel for my job through out illinois and iowa a minimum of 800 mls per month . Was the recall sent to gustafson Ford kewanee IL 61443? if so why did they tell me they don't have it and nothing can be done until Ford sends them this notice? please help!! this is a major safety issue that no one wants to fix. If I'm hit driving 75mph on the interstate I could be seriously injured or even killed ! then who would take care of my 3 children and 77yr old grandmother? it's ridiculous that this was brought to gustafson Ford attention in 2016 and now 2019 still the defective airbag is still in my car. Please tell me what I need to do to fix this recall. Thank you for your time. -briana frisby.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Taurus. While the vehicle was parked, the contact heard a loud noise and the air bag deployed without warning. The vehicle accelerated forward and crashed into a tree. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to the Ford dealer, but was not repaired. The failure mileage was 23,000.

There was an accident our Ford Taurus hit a tree causing tree to come out if the ground and around $13,000 worth of damages and no airbag went off hit at 12 fro t impact. Fighting Ford motor to have them test the black box for information and possible defect before I drive it after its fixed.

On April 30 2015 I was hit head on by 1999 Dodge dakota I was at a complete stop. The speed limit where 50 mph on that road. The whole front of my car is smashed in from the force of how hard he hit me and my airbags did not go off. My car spun 180. I was facing the way I was coming from. I got a sprained knee and some bumps and bruises.

I was driving on a main highway when a car pulled out directly in front of me. When we impacted the air bag deployed and broke my arm in half. My bone cut a main nerve on the outside of my dominant right arm. After 2 surgeries my nerve never repaired. There is no feeling in my last two fingers and they are drown in due to lack of nerve. My wrist will not bend back either due to all the metal holding my arm together.

Recently started noticing a white powdery substance coming out of the area behind the airbag housing and running down the back of the steering wheel housing on both sides. With all the new data coming out regarding air bag failures, I am very concerned for my safety while driving this car. It should be handled/repaired by Ford at their expense. They know they have an issue with bad airbags and their customer's safety should be paramount!.

Airbag exploded injury in my face.

I was attempting to make a left unto the street, and another vehicle came speeding down the road and didn't blow her horn or slow down when she saw me, and collided into my vehicle. The impact of the other vehicle pushed my car out into the middle of he street. I had my seat belt on. I had passenger in car with me. They had there seatbelt on too. Neither air bags opened. After the accident, I had to go to miss work because my back was hurting so bad. The very next day I got a ride to the emergency room because my back was hurting so severely. The dr. Diagnosed me with chronic back pain which was due from accident. I was prescribed 2 types of medication to take, and dr. Said I may have to see a specialist if no improvement. I have dr report and accident report upon request. I am still in pain.

The air bag has been sending code 2-4 upon starting the vehicle and then after a few times of blinking this code, it stays on constantly. This apparently renders the airbags non-operable & according to online posts, this is caused by corrosion in a component.

The passenger seat weight monitor to activate or deactivate the passenger airbag will not deactivate passenger air bag off light only comes on when you start the car and should be on at all times when the seat is empty or a child is seated in it.

Dash lights go dim for about 15 min then go bright again dealer can't find anything wrong.

The contact owns a 2001 Ford Taurus. The contact was driving 30 mph when her vehicle was crashed into from the front driver's side and none of the air bags deployed. A police report was filed and the driver sustained minor contusions and bruising. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 80,000.

Vehicle was traveling southbound in the outside lane of a 4 lane hwy. Vehicle changed lanes abruptly and went left of the center of roadway entering into the nourthbound lanes of traffic, continuing in a southbound direction, the vehicle departed the east side and collided with the end portion of a guardrail. The inside portion of the right front tire caught the outside of gaurdrail causing the car to straddle the top of the rail until the undercarriage of the car caught on a post of the rail causing the car to slide sideways until the left side tires dug into the ground and flipped the car completely over where it continued to travel south, rolling over again, colliding with a wood post then finally coming to rest on it's tires facing northwest. No airbags deployed at any point of the collision. Gearshift was between neutral and overdrive.

I was having an issue with a noise coming from my steering column. I took it to byler Ford in louisville ky. Currently I do not have the date. I was told that the clock spring was defective and needs to be replaced. If it was not replaced the airbag may not work or the airbag will go off by itself. I replaced the clock spring at a cost of over $400. 00. The noise has returned. I had a local repair service check to see with was causing the noise. They said the clock spring was defective and would have to be replaced. I returned to the Ford dealership and talked with them about the issue with the clock spring in the 2004 Ford Taurus. They said they are not having a problem with the clock spring and that I would have to pay the $400. 00 to replace it again. I’m currently driving an unsafe car due to the defective clock spring. I should not have to pay the $400. 0 again for a defective safety part.

Owner health would not permit to calling in complaint. Now has new owner.

The contact owns a 1999 Ford Taurus. While driving approximately 40 mph, the contact's visibility was hindered by dust from the large street sweeping vehicles. She did not see the preceding vehicle and rear-ended the vehicle. None of the airbags deployed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed and the contact was not given an explanation as to the cause of the air bag failure. The driver was transported to the hospital and sustained numerous bruises and swelling. The contact believes that she could have been seriously injured due to the failure. The VIN was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 140,000.

Design defect/safety defect. My son just received his driver's permit and has recently been driving my 1999 Ford Taurus. I planned to give him this car and then purchase another car when he turns 16. In adjusting the tilt steering wheel, it caused the wiring mechanism that controls the air bags to break. Apparently, when the wire broke it touched metal and shorted out my system. Thus, I don't have the use of my air bags and they said it will cost $800 to fix. I believe this is a serious design flaw if there is a risk of a wire breaking when you use your tilt steering wheel that renders you air bags useless and thereby not having the benefit of an air bag in a crash. I don't believe I should be responsible to have to pay for what is definitely a design defect!.

The contact owns a 2000 Ford Taurus. While driving approximately 45 mph, the contact was involved in a front end crash with another vehicle. Her vehicle was severely damaged and none of the air bags deployed. The driver sustained serious injuries and a police report was filed. The cause of the failure has not yet been determined. The VIN was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 89,000.

I was driving out of an underground parking ramp, went over a speed bump, and heard a loud crash type of sound. I went to see an auto mechanic and was told the front coil spring on my 2000 Ford Taurus was fractured and would need to be replaced.

1996 Ford Taurus sitting in the church parking lot and the air bags deployed. No one was in the car except our small dog. Considerable damage to the car including broken windshield. Ford motor company tells me that they have no liability.

Since owning this auto from 2004 forward, I've been in a few front-end incidents and the air bag never activated.

On October 28,2005 I was vacationing in hilton head s. C. I rented a 2005 Ford Taurus from avis rental at the savannah georgia airport. On October 30, at approximately 10:40 am I was proceeding westbound on u. S. 278 toward highway 170. I was traveling approximately 50 - 55 mph in a 55 mph zone. At that time a 2002 kia 4 door came off private property of the st. Gregorey's catholic church across the two westbound lanes. I activated the brakes and swerved to miss the vehicle however we collided. My vehicle hit theirs broadside at my estimate of 25 - 30 mph at impact. The impact was to the front of my vehicle to the driver's side of their vehicle. At the time of the collision, the anti- lock brakes on my vehicle locked so I was unable to steer out of the path of the kia. At the time of the collision neither the driver or passenger airbags deployed on my vehicle. The driver of the kia was airlifted to savannah, georgia and her husband was transported to the same hospital by ground ambulance. My wife was transported by ambulance to carolina coastal hospital in bluffton, s. C. I sent this information about 2 weeks ago but have had no acknowledgement of it being received so I am resubmitting it.

On 10/28/05 I rented a Ford Taurus at the airport in savannah, georgia while vacationing in hilton head, south carolina. On 10/30/05 I was driving westbound in the slow lane on u. S. 278, a four lane highway divided by a 40 -60 ft grass divider in route to beuford s. C. My speed was about 50 -55 mph with a posted limit of 55 mph. About 150 feet in front of me, I caught a glimpse of a vehicle (2002 kia) leaving the driveway of the st. Gregory the great catholic church directly in the path of my vehicle. I applied the brakes hard, swerved to the left in an effort to steer around the vehicle. The brakes of the Taurus locked up and I left about 60 feet of skid marks on the roadway at which time I hit the kia broadside at the driver's door. I would estimate my speed at the time of the collision to be about 25 - 30 mph. The kia crossed the divider and two eastbound lanes prior to stopping on the south side of the roadway shoulder. At the time of the collision neither my air bag nor my wife's air bag deployed. My wife suffered injuries to her shoulder, neck and knee. I suffered injuries to left wrist and right upper arm. The female driver of the kia was airlifted to savannah, georgia for treatment and was still in the hospital according to the insurance company on 11/9/05. The male passenger was transported by ambulance to savannah also but I am unaware of his condition. I feel this vehicle and other models of this nature need to be examined.
