The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated, and the vehicle would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. After retrieving the vehicle, the failure immediately reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who determined that the catalytic converter was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact owns a 2015 Ford Taurus. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, the temperature gauges were fluctuating. The contact pulled over and turn off and restarted the vehicle several times; however, the gauges were still fluctuating. Additionally, the contact stated that there was a leak seen underneath the vehicle. The check engine and temperature gauge warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the water pump and catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The contact then made a local dealer aware of the failure and it was confirmed that there was no related recall on the VIN for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was unknown.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a repair kit installed at an expense of $200. 00. The manufacturer designed a repair kit because the flange for the catalytic converter was welded improperly. The contact owns a 2001 Ford Taurus. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle began to overheat. There was no smoke coming from the engine compartment, but the temperature dial dropped quickly. Within minutes, the contact pulled the vehicle over and shut off the engine. She allowed the vehicle to cool off and it was towed to a repair shop. The mechanic checked the vehicle and stated that all of the fluids were fine; however, the catalytic converter failed. The vehicle heads were made of aluminum and when the engine overheated, they warped and cracked. The failure caused the entire motor to be replaced. During the entire ordeal, there were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The failure has not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were 80,000. Updated 08/31/09

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Taurus. While driving in reverse at approximately 2 mph, the contact heard a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. He stopped the vehicle and noticed that the exhaust pipe was on the ground. He had the vehicle towed to a local dealer and they stated that the lower part of the fledge weld caused the catalytic converter to detach. The dealer replaced the catalytic converter. The vehicle experience cold start, dealer replaced the catalytic converter.
Recalls 97v097000/96v166000; while driving the rpm's went up, zoomed up, and the car died, coasted to the side and parked. Dealer contacted, and stated the vehicle did not comply with the recalls. Provide further information.
Whenever stopping or starting the vehicle, it would rumble/ vibrate and shake badly. Took to dealer to have vehicle checked. Was told that the catalytic convertor had to be replaced. The problem of vibrating and rumbling still exists.
Catalitic converter pipe bracket cracked and sounded like a manifold leak. Cost to replace the entire unit is about $600. 00 dollars. This dos not seem to be a standard amount of time for this to happen on this type of vehicle.
