The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while driving at speeds over 50 mph the speed would erroneously reduce to 2 mph. During the failure the check engine light had illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle body and the pcm was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 34,951. Jft.

I was travelling on a freeway ~70mph in left hand lane. Without warning the instrument cluster went black and the engine stopped. The vehicle started to decelerate and there was no response from the throttle pedal. An orange box appeared on the left hand side of the speedometer saying 'transmission not in park'. I signaled intention to pull onto left hand shoulder but there was no sound or flashing from the indicator arrow light in the instrument cluster. I braked and the vehicle came to a stop. I put the gear selector into 'park' and depressed engine start button. The instrument lights then illuminated, and the indicator light started flashing. I then depressed the brake pedal and engine start button and the engine started. All check lights went out, engaged 'd', waited for break in traffic, indicated and accelerated into left hand lane. I contacted the dealer and explained the situation and they wanted me to wait until the problem repeated or the check engine light was to illuminate. I told them that this was a safety critical problem and that I would not wait until this problem repeated. I took the car to the dealer and they found fault codes - b11d8:14, u0423:82, u0415:00, u0028:08. The fault codes were cleared, and the dealer drove the vehicle for ~70 miles but were unable to duplicate the problem. On April 25, 2019, the Ford regional customer service manager told me that as the problem could not be duplicated, Ford motor company cannot offer any assistance at this time. She stated that the vehicle is safe to drive and any issue is now between myself and the dealer. Overall, there was no acknowledgement of the gravity of this issue. The fact that the problem cannot be duplicated should be even more concerning when, at random, control of the vehicle can be lost. Ford motor company has now walked away from this safety critical issue.

I purchased the car 11/17/2018 from earls credit auto sales in portsmouth on airline blvd ; it rode well until 11/30/2018 when I drove to the barbershop in the greenbrier area of chesapeake va. I went to pull out the parking lot and my car started to shake real heavy and sloppy so I parked it and turnt it off , when I tried to start it up it would not start it kept stalling I called the dealerships auto shop they took the car and held it and claim they were working on it , I picked the car up when it was ready 12/04/2018. It rode fine until 12/14/2018 I went to the barbershop again and as I was leaving backing out my car started to shake heavily again than before I could put the car in drive to pull back in to the parking spot the car just cut off in the middle of the parking lot while a car was to the left of me trying to pull out . I had to get out and push the car in the spot and hurry and rush to push on the break and put the car in park. When I got a tow to the dealerships auto shop I explained this is my second time here under the same circumstances , I also called the dealership pleading to give the car back and to be refunded I barley got to enjoy or use the beguile without it being a problem . I was told they don't allow refunds and there auto shop will fix the car , so when they said the car was ready on 12/15/2018 it drove well but it the check engine light came on I went to auto zone for a free test and I got a po430 code , I called the auto shop before they closed because they told me on the 14th all what was wrong was a fuel pump and they replaced it but it has something to do with the catalyst system I been smelling a buring smell coming through my vents for a while but never really knew what it was . The rep on the phone told me it was fine for me to still drive the car and I also I won't be able to get my car worked on till 12/26/2018 . I need help!.

I was driving home from work, traveling uphill when my 2011 Taurus sho sputtered and quickly lost power for more than 5 sec. While I was accelerating. This is not the first time something like this has happened to me. I am glad there wasn't anyone driving behind me because I'm sure they would have rear-ended me. Once I regained control of my vehicle, I noticed my check engine light came on. The car was shaking and sputtering as it was trying to make it up the rest of the hill. The check engine light started to blink. By the time I made it to the top of the hill the vehicle seemed better but I knew from experience it was in limp mode. I made it home safely driving as carefully as I could. I did notice the car shook much more when I slowed down to stop for stop-signs, almost like it was going to stall. I even ran a couple signs because I wanted to make it home, safely. I called the dealership gus johnson Ford immediately to schedule an appointment. I took it in, my service advisor called me days later and said he advised I put a whole new engine in my car. Cylinder #4 misfiring, found leak that is causing low compression. He said they could tear apart the motor and inspect further but doing a complete engine assembly could cost upwards around $10,000. I was paralyzed! I found other stories and complaints just like mine when I came here to NHTSA. If Ford was, or still is aware of any defects to the engine through manufacturing or bad design that may cause loss of power, shaking, shuddering, sputtering, stalling, loss-of-power during acceleration, they should be held responsible before someone is seriously injured.

At dealership learned fuel injector was stuck open dumping raw gas into the engine and exhaust systems. Appears to me to be a very dangerous operating condition.

Problems occurred 2x - 07/16th and 07/18/2016 - while travel at highway speed, 70mph, acceleration ceased - check engine, airbag and service lights came on, have to pull over, shut-off the engine, restart, drive for 1 more problems reoccur again. Drove the vehicle to Ford dealer with check engine light remains. Vehicles was purchased 04/15/2016 had 216 miles on the title. . . Currently has 9,650 miles.

Had throttle related issues that were supposedly "repaired" at the dealer which are still present. The vehicle accelerates by itself and shows a wrench icon on the dashboard with a check engine light on. If the vehicle is put on drive it moves by itself as if one were pressing on the gas pedal. This is a possible safety issue that could possible kill someone or even get me killed while driving the vehicle (which I don't). Right now it's at the dealer and had to be towed away since the vehicle couldn't be moved.

I recently brought the car for 4,00 and some change a bout a year ago two days after I brought it the check engine light came on and every now and then while driving it would cut off I took the car back to the place I brought it from and told them they told me to bring it back in I would have to leave it so I got some one to follow me and take me back home when I went to pick up the car it was running but by the time I got home the check engine light was back on. Then the defrost didn't work I took it back to them. That's when the air condictioner stop working I just quit complain the car ran pretty smooth although the check engine light stayed on . I went to start my car one night and it wouldn't start so I went and brought so heet I thoght because it was cold out side it is winter I begin hear a hiss llike some air is excaping from somewhere under the hood but yo hear it inside the car like a lot of static. It time for me to get a tuneup now the car really runs sluggish and turns off more often and you can't turn the wheels so that is spooky I had the check light checked out and they said it was my lean sensor too much air is getting into the gasoline and that has something to do with the catalyic converter.

Hello good morning I have a 2011 Ford Taurus sel and while going up a hill my car shut off while my keys were still in the ignition. My steering locked, check engine and low oil lights went on. The only thing I could do was apply brakes to the car and place it in park. I shut off the car and opened the hood to see if anything looked out of place. I checked my engine oil levels and that seemed fine. I closed the hood and turned the car back on. No check engine light or low oil? I haven't had a problem since but it seemed like an extremely dangerous situation. I see there are several complaints about the same issue.

I was driving down the interstate when the car started running real choppy and misfiring. I got the car to a safe destination. After restarting the vehicle, there was a tremendous amount of white smoke coming from the exhaust. I was able to get it to our nearest Ford dealership. Prior to this incident there were no check engine lights, no problems passing emissions, just no signs that anything was wrong. This is a 2 year old vehicle purchased brand new from the dealership. Ford has bragged about this engine being a premier engine, top notch eco boost turbo charged and for us to have to replace it after two years of driving is insane. We have vehicles older than this 2010 Taurus sho, one with 100,000(chevy 2006), another with 150, 000(Honda 2004), and another with 60,000(Mitsubishi 2003) that have given us no problems. Ford has not lived up to their claims on this car. The dealership said that one of the cylinders had a compression of 0 and that we needed an engine replacement. They never took the engine apart, they just did a diagnostic. I called the customer service line at Ford and complained immediately after finding out that we were going to need an engine. They quoted a price of $6800 to replace the engine. After providing our service records, Ford offered to help us with some of the cost but we were still out of pocket almost $5000. Warning to consumers, this car, even though I loved driving it, I would not recommend it to anyone! we paid close to $50,000 for this car. If you dare to risk buying this car you better get the extended warranty because you just may need it. A big disappointment. Supposedly Ford sent our engine to be examined closely. I hope they find out what the real problem is because I would not want anyone to have to go through what we did. We will not be buying any Ford vehicles ever again!!!.

The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where it was in the process of being diagnosed. The failure mileage was 77,000 and the current mileage was 90,600.

Purchased car as fourth owner (according to carfax report) on Saturday 31 may 2008. The following Thursday the car began to act as though it was going to cut out and the abs and brake system lights flashed and sounded. The lights and a/c were typically surging. Car was inspected that Friday by dealers mechanic of choice. He put the computer to the car and it read all 6 stator coils were bad. He reset the computer and drove it trying to get the car to act up again and it did not. Today, Saturday 14 Jun 2008, the car did it again and the engine light stayed on. Dealers mechanic was closed so I had someone else check it and they got the same reading with this message: p0606 pcm processor fault. Mechanic told me this was the computer. My car has 80,710 miles on it. Is this a normal failure? were there any recalls?.

During starting of car, ran very rough and engine light came on. It was discovered there was no compression in cylinder #1due to a broken valve spring in the engine. Oil was always changed about every 3000 mi. With no previous engine problems.
