36 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 02/11/2023

My 2011 Ford Taurus has had so many repairs out of pocket expenses and if I purchased another warranty package doubt it would cover my issues past and present. 69,000 th miles. Throttle bottle and pedal replacement $ 852. 79 replaced on February 14, 2023. Mechanic tried to fix it but the error code is the large blue wrench and check engine light still on. Have to bring it in at the end of the month to my Ford dealer as they are so booked up and I have read all the Ford recalls. When I start the car the break pedal is to the floor, it revs up and when I place the shift in drive it wants to take off by itself at a rapid speed. I then shut the car off and it makes a big thump. It takes me three tries to start it up again but looses power where I have to put my emergency flashes on. This incident is so dangerous. Ford should have done a recall there are so many complaints ! I was going to disconnect my battery and connect it again to see if that works but I don’t want to erase the codes. My Ford dealership is so busy that they could only give me an appointment at the end of the month. As I stated my vehicle is inoperable as it sits until the end of the month to get serviced again.

41 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2005 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 11/04/2022

I was on my way to work. When I came to the stop sign to turn on the main road. I felt my car jerk. I thought it was weird and kept driving anyways. Then I noticed the resistance was gone from the gas pedal and it went straight to the floor. So I came to the stop light and kept my foot on the brake. When the light turned green and I had let go of the brakes. My car was accelerating on its own. I had to keep pumping the brakes so I wouldn't crash or hurt anyone. I managed to pull into a mechanic's shop and asked for help. The mechanic told me that it was my cruise control and that it wasn't disengaging. So he had to disconnect it from my car.

42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 10/01/2022

The throttle body threw a code. My car lost "power' and stalled. It went into limp mode. Became inoperable. My four year old, his dad, and my safety was at risk due to this happening on a rural road on a hill. We were stuck in the middle of nowhere and an hour and a half away from home. The dealership replaced the throttle bottle, accelerator pedal, reprogrammed it, and it still will not function normally. I am out of a car and that is not okay. They only warning sign there was happened to be a wrench and that's it.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 09/16/2022

Engine/ water pump. Started the car one day and a massive plume of smoke came out of the exhaust. So far we have caught it early enough to where the whole engine doesn't have to be replaced. But the repair is costly. Shame on Ford for building this model of engine that has water pump failures that leak coolant into the oil. Especially when a vehicle has been well taken care of and maintained. This is causing $$$ to be spent.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2014 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 08/27/2022

The contact's aunt owns a 2014 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that his aunt noticed a puddle of fluids underneath the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. 45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 08/22/2022

Internal water pump failure caused large amounts of pressure on the the coolant system. When I opened the hood my coolant reservoir cracked and shot hot plastic and coolant at my face.

46 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 07/31/2022

On 7/31/2022, and also about a month ago, my 2013 Ford Taurus limited stalled out while driving and the wrench light came on. The car limped along until I could pull it over, but this could have been serious as I was on the highway doing 65mph just 2 minutes prior to it. It stalled coming up the upramp here in phoenix. I got it into the parking lot, and gave it gas and nothing at all, the engine just sputtered as the wrench light was on. I turned it off for 2 minutes, and restarted and able to get home 4 minutes away. This is the 2nd time this has now happened, and this is a huge safety concern. Ford Taurus had recalls on the powertrain control module for other years of the Taurus, but I do not want to pay for this fix as this is a Ford safety issue for my model year 2013. I could have caused an accident on the highway if this stalled like this. Who do I contact to get this looked at. I can almost guarantee it is the powertrain control module as I see it online recalled and exact same issues. This car onl has 70k miles on it and in great condition, serviced all the time. Please let me know whom I may contact to resolve this safety issue? should I call my local Ford dealership, but I think they charge $200 for scan of the car. Thank yo for your time. 47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2003 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 07/21/2022

At times the vehicle accelerates by itself albeit I am not touching the gas pedal. While driving the vehicle at 45 mph, I take my foot off of the accelerator and the vehicle maintains the 45 mph speed or increases speed if I am driving down a hill or any downward gradient regardless of the angle of decent. When I try to stop the vehicle using the foot brake it continues to maintain speed and if I put the shift lever in neutral, while trying to stop, the rpm's increase from approximately 1500 rpm's to 3200 rpm's until the vehicle comes to a complete stop, and then, only after approximately five seconds do the rpm's begin to drop to 1000 rpm's. If I am driving the vehicle with cruise control and cancel the cruise control, the vehicle maintains the cruise control speed indefinitely, literally for miles thereafter. I wanted to give this vehicle to my daughter who has multiple sclerosis but it's too dangerous for her to drive with this acceleration problem. Do you have any recommendations for me???.

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2006 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 06/25/2022

Car engine accelerate on own. Tac meter shows over 3,000 rpm when I put it in neutral. I have to tap the accelerator and it goes back to normal. This happens about once a week now. I was slowing down for a stoplight and it happened. Brakes were not enough. Almost hit a car. Only by throwing into neutral allowed me to gain control and stop. My mechanic couldn’t find anything. I cannot allow anyone else to drive this as I am the only one familiar to handle it. I’ll probably sell it on a trade. I’ve read dozens of reports of this but no recall. I am surprised. . The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.

50 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 04/21/2022

I believe there is a an unissued recall for my engine type. The cost to replace a water pump exceeds normal circumstances due to Ford engineers placing the water pump inside of the engine instead of outside making it a $2000 to $5000 job instead of a $200 job. Instead of a water pump simply leaking onto the ground while mounted outside of the engine the way they have designed it it leaks into the engine and causes the engine to fail due to engine coolant leaking into the engine through the water pump.

51 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2010 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 04/05/2022

5 April 2022 my 2010 Taurus sel 3. 5l engine overheated unexpectedly and the temp warning light came on my way home. I let it cool down during a heavy rain before heading home. I left the vehicle at a gas station for a couple of hours and return to bring it home (3 miles). Temp gage remain steady (3 miles) until it was parked on my driveway. The next day, I conducted an assessment to the cooling system. Reservoir was completely empty and my oil deep stick level was higher than normal 1 inch above max range. It showed coolant contamination. I read several reports about a flaw with the internal water pump design. If indeed is a flaw design or pump manufacture defect, why Ford motor company hasn't fix the issue or provided a solution to alleviate this flaw? now I have to incur on major engine repairs or replacement, in which I am not sure if it is cost effective. Current mileage 171,424.

The contact observed that white smoke was coming out from under the hood. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle and had the vehicle towed to her residence. An independent mechanic went to the residence to diagnose the vehicle. The independent mechanic determined that the head gasket had blown and the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

53 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2014 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 02/23/2022

On the 24th February, 2022, I was driving my 2014 Ford Taurus taxi cab on the highway to go pick up a client. I saw a dash light indicating slippery road and suddenly, I could not control the steering of the car. All attempts to control the steering proved futile, and the car kept swerving on both sides, till it hit the divider between the roads. This is the second time that this incident is happening to me. The first incident resulted to a minor damage, and the car was taken to the shop for fix. With the second incident from last month, this resulted to my car being totaled. I am lucky and grateful to be alive. I spoke to my son and learned that there was a recall on the 2014 Ford Taurus. Below is an excerpt regarding the recall that was responsible for my car being damaged; summary Feb 10,2020 manufacturer recall number20s04 NHTSA recall number20v072 recall statusrecall incomplete vehicles that are exposed to frequent full rear suspension articulation (jounce and rebound) may experience a fractured rear suspension toe link. 59 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 11/24/2021

Had my Ford for less than 6 months, and has 80,000 miles on it. Looks brand new, in excellent shape and yet on the way home from the grocery store, it began overheating. The tempature gage shot up and the engine started cutting out. We pulled over and the vehicle was smoking. We started adding water and coasting down the mountain until we could get home. Called several mechanics and find out that this is a common problem with our year and model. Every person we've consulted has quoted us $3,000 to repair the water pump. We have been told that the excessive charge is because when Ford built this model, the water pump was placed inside the engine. The entire engine has to be taken out of the car in order to replace the water pump. Most mechanics around us don't even have the machine that is needed to remove the engine. Ford is backed up for months on repairs. Our vehicle has been sitting for two summers because we cannot afford this $3,000 repair for a water pump! we are making payments on a car that can't be driven. Something needs to be done about this. The more I dig and research, the more complaints for this very issue I find. We need help!.

60 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2015 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 11/03/2021

Fuel pump control module failure. No start intermittent. Could have been stuck 5 hours away if it would've been a week earlier. No warning lights or indications previously.

61 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Ford Taurus

2 different ptu's have burned up, waterpump blew up.

62 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 06/13/2021

Attempted to start vehicle in driveway. Without warning, experienced a catastrophic failure of the water pump/engine cooling system. The failure caused the engine crankcase to fill with coolant and caused the vehicle crankshaft bearings to disintegrate into the oil leaving a silvery sludge. Upon taking vehicle to repair center, recommendation was to replace the entire engine since apparently the failure caused unrepairable internal damage to the engine. I have see other complaints about this where the failure happened while the vehicle was being driven and could have caused a very severe dangerous accident to occur as a result of the engine failure. Ford should be ashamed of the quality and workmanship in this motor since it appears to be a common an recurring problem.

63 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2015 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 04/15/2021

03/16/2021 was the purchase date. The battery was pretty much dead when we took it in for its first oil change (about a month after purchase), they may still have record of it. The check engine light has been on since June. The front head light wiring was faulty, not sure if the person has any record of it. But I can ask that finally got fixed in December. The check engine light was only read at the auto store. Unfortunately due to me losing my job, the cobuyer (my fiancé) has been responsible for all bills and we can’t afford to have it looked at in depth. We purchased a limited warranty when we got the car, but every time we contacted them. They were rude and very put off. They made it seem like we were the issue and not the car. And they never let us bring it in to have it looked at. We are paying almost $475 for a car that has had major problems since purchasing it.

66 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2005 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 12/16/2020

My car will accelerate on its own without me pressing the gas. This happens at least 4 times a week while I am driving and happens when I am driving between 20 and 50 mph. I can make the engine rev/acceleration stop by quickly tapping on the gas pedal. I have had the cruise control disconnected because my mechanic thought this was part of the problem but the random sef-acceleration has continued and seems to be getting more frequent. This has been going on off and on for a few years but has increased in frequency over the past few months.
