Engine Belts And Pulleys Problems of Ford Taurus - part 2

When we drive thru a small amount of water (puddle) with the right front, the car stalls. I have seen many of these reported in your complaints database & am wondering if any one have solved this problem yet. It just seems like water gets on the serpentine belt & it slips & stalls the car. Once it even restarted automatically without shutting the key off & re-starting. This seems very odd to me. How does the engine refire without turning the key?.

While driving either in rain or over a puddle of water and making a right hand turn , water will get into the serpentine belt, causing loss of power steering for about 30-60 seconds . There is no guard or shield to protect belts from getting wet. Ford claims they cannot fix defect.

Had driven through a puddle of water & the water got inside the front of vehicle. Belts inside got wet. This caused the engine to stall. Had made squealing noises when it was stalling. After a few seconds squealing sound stopped. Vehicle then returned to normal. Did not have to restart vehicle. Taking vehicle to dealer to check.

Serpentine belt has slippage, causing loss of vehicle control. Problem occurs when vehicle is driven over water puddles.

Passenger's door rattles. Replaced steering rack/leaking oil pan gaskets/oil filter and bracket/ seat belt retractor/rear defroster.

Turning corner at appx 20mph heard loud clonk noise unable to steer vech,rack & pinion snapped, lifted hood belt had came off wheel was on the ground, Ford mechanic told warranty rep that it was my fault because I ran low on power steering fluid. I drove a 24ft tractor and 53ft trailer combination for 6 years across the us canada and mexico and had to do my own maint. And minor repairs to my truck does this sound like someone that jumps in and out of a car without checking fluid levels,or doing proper maint on their vech?? I only had the vech for 38days but always keep all fluid levels checked, before this happened I would hear a low humming noise when turning the steering wheel but the powersteering fluid was at the normal level.

This problem is with Taurus, sable & windstar, it can not be repaired. . . Now what? no safety defect listed. TSB 98-9-4 was issued regarding this problem, the corrective action being to replaced the front end accessory drive belt.

While pulling into a parking space consumer heard a loud noise. Upon inspection of the vehicle consumer noticed the source of the noise was due to the timing belt breaking and falling off.

When driving over a puddle, the alternator belt gets wet, causing the vehicle to lose steering power, and the vehicle stalls.
