I have engine code p0430, I change all converters, all 02 sensors still keep getting same code. My guess is upper intake manifold, which should last the life of the car. I can us a little help getting the part. Thank you.

When accelerating at about 40 mph the cruise control would not work when I tried to engage it, however the car began speeding up quickly while my foot was off the gas peddle. I tried to engage/disengage the cruise control but got no response, except the engine rpm and car was still speeding up, the car was getting close to 60mph and I began putting on the brakes the car was still trying to accelerate and rpm still going up as I was stopping the car. This car continues to accelerate faster on it's own when driven and today 5/19/14 again from about 35 to 50 in about a mile, this was not as severe as the first time but is troubling and a waste of my gas and brakes. This is a Taurus sel with automatic trans. And a 3. 9l v6 engine. I found the cruise control cable off of the lever it connects to near the intake manifold( after reading about other Taurus models/years with the same problem). I will be contacting a Ford dealer to see if they have a fix as cable is still very loose after I tried to reconnect it.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that after driving off from a traffic stop, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. Where the technician diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred on three occasions. The technician replaced the fuel pump, the intake manifold, and map sensor but it failed to repaired the problem. Also, the contact mentioned that while driving 65 mph, exhaust fumes began to emit into the vehicle and smoke started to emit from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic who stated that the intake manifold had a hole on the side causing the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was unknown.
While driving slowly the vehicle became loud. The exhaust pipe had broke away from its exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold clamp and was laying on the ground. The actual clamp was still in place.

While driving my 2008 Ford Taurus with 80k miles on 01-21-11 the car started missing. Drove the vehicle directly to my mechanic. Diagnosis was a badly burnt coil on the #2 cylinder. In order to get to the #2 clyinder and spark plugs my mechanic made me aware that the air intake manifold needs to be removed and while that is taking place I should have a tuneup since one is recommended at 90k anyway. Coil in the #2 cylinder was replaced and tuneup completed and car was still missing. Further diagnosis showed that the computer that runs the engine and transmission was ruined when the coil burnt out and for the car to run as it is supposed to it will also need this computer. So I am going to incur a $1000. 00 or more in expense because my excelent condition 08', 80,0000 mile car is missing. It would seem to me that a system that allows this much possible damage and expense to happen when a coil goes bad is a flawed system.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Taurus. While driving at speeds of 35 mph, the flex exhaust pipe fell onto the ground. Upon further inspection, the contact noticed that the pipe was rusted. The contact stated that the flex pipe was located in the front of the vehicle near the engine. The contact made repairs to the vehicle by adding wire to the pipe and proceeded to a nearby repair shop for a replacement. The manufacturer has been contacted. The failure mileage was 28,000 and the current mileage was unknown. Updated 05/10/10 the consumer stated the flex pipe was poorly designed. Updated 06/15/10.
Pulling out from parking lot when exhaust went loud. Found out bolts on exhaust by manifold pipe snapped allowing exhaust pipe to hang down in front causing the pipe scrape along road if hit pot hole or raised area of roadpipe could have been pushed back causing unknown damage. Could have been worse if was on freeway or operating at higher rate of speed.
When starting car, intake manifold exploded. Smoke poured from under hood and gas fumes filled the area.

Am hearing a light moan on light acceleration. I can hear it at all rpms and speed. But is at its loudest at 40-45 mph, just after it shifts into the highest gear. In last few wks- it seems to follow the exhaust to the rear. Dealership does not seem to verify it. Am returning for new rear struts that rattle-on warranty. What should I tell them when I return? also can feel it through the steering wheel.
Backfire and explosion. Recall was issued after intake manifold was destroyed along with other parts. The problem was due to weak gaskets. After repairs, the vehicle had begun running rough upon acceleration along with missing.
Vehicle intake manifold exploded resulting in near fire which also damaged the emission valve. The consumer had difficulty starting the vehicle and on the second try is when the explosion was heard. The consumer was told when the intake manifold exploded it shattered into large fragments and scattered through out the engine, 2 weeks later the emissions light illuminated. The consumer tool the vehicle to the dealer and upon examination it was discovered the emissions valve was damaged due to the explosion or was the origin of the problem which may have caused the intake manifold to fail.
I was driving to work when suddenly there was a noise and the sound of grinding metal and my car was a bit difficult to steer. I pulled over and called my husband and aaa. Within 45 minutes we had heard from three different people that this problem (front coil spring breakage) is notorius with Ford Taurus'. Then when I went back to work and was discussing this, a fellow CO worker said that this happened to his 1993 Ford Taurus and he had it repaired by cole muffler and Ford paid for it under a "silent recall". They have no answers for me, just if we would have brought it in they would have given a discount.
Consumer complained about an intake manifold problem. There was a loud noise when starting the vehicle. Consumer opened the hood and saw the entire intake manifold blown apart. Consumer contacted the dealer, and had the vehicle towed to the dealership. Consumer has been waiting for the repair results.
When the vehicle was started the consumer heard a loud back fire noise. The consumer later found out that the intake manifold exploding.
Car was driven for approx. 100 miles, gas was low, so stopped to refill. When car was restarted, the car hesitated then sounded choked like it was not getting gas. Revved car to try to 'clear' system. Problem continued, at worst when idling. After a few minutes, engine light came on, so I turned off the car and called Ford dealer. Wrecker driver came out, revved car a few more times (approx. 3000 rpm) small backfire out of muffler each time. Problem seemed to go away. Wrecker driver blamed 'baffles' in muffler? drove car another 200 miles home. Three days later, after driving a bit, parked for short time then restarted car, same problem reoccurred.

At startup the intake manifold expolded resulting in total distruction. Shrapnel was imbeded in insulation cover on the hood and found throughout the engine compartment, the windshield washer module on the right side was blown off and found aprox 5' from the car. This vehicle has been in for service for hard starting and fuel system check engine light for the past year. Had the hood been open the blast would have sent shrapnel out of the area and into whoever was standing nearby.
Engine had a backfire explosion while trying to start vehicle in driveway. This caused vehicle to be inoperable. Notified dealer & had vehicle towed. Mechanic checked engine & indicated a backfire had occurred in the intake manifold which was split/cracked from the explosion. Was in the shop 4 days before parts arrived for repairs. After repairs, placed on diagnostic machine & engine still not working. Manufacturer issued a recall #00b38 the first of April. Vehicle was manufactered in may 26, 2000.
Heat/vibration of engine caused plastic vacuum elbow to break. This caused loss of vacuum to brake booster and loss of brakes. Customer ran into brick wall. We are vehicle investigators/engineers for insurance companies. Normal vibration and heat caused this failure. I would recommend some kind of strain relief or a superior material for this important part. This elbow connects main manifold vacuum to a vacuum manifold mounter on left side firewall. This manifold feeds the vacuum systems for the vehicle and the power brake booster (bosch unit). Resultaing in loss of manifold vacuum caused the engine management system to surge and idle poorly. There were no broken or fatigued engine mounts to cause unwarranted stress on this plastic elbow. It appears that plastic elbow is made from pvc. I would recommend either steel, brass, or a polyolefin based composite be substituted for existing materials used. ---thank you, greg barnett note: credentials available upon request .

Exhaust problems with 1998 Ford Taurus. Nar 07092003 Ford dealer was notified about replacing the defective part, however they refused to replace it. The consumer hoped that a national recall would be initiated to inspect the potential deadly conditions.
Consumer states vehicle loses power when turning, and there is a fish odor in car. Dealer states that oil is burning on the manifold.
