Going 60- 70 mph down a curvy highway and this kicks on losing the ability to steer your vehicle! all it does is ding and a message appears telling you that there was power steering assist failure!!! only have estimates to fix this so far and looking at $3000. Had it towed back home from another town which was $100.

I was driving and had to make a u-turn, as a make my left u turn a get a beeping noise from the dash saying that power steering failure and now the car is really hard to turn. While starting my car a light came on stating power steering assisted failed. Turned car off , sat for a couple of minutes tried again no light. Drove 11 miles to work called larry miller Ford to bring in. Drove 11 miles home. Looked on Ford website said there was a recall for all 2013 models made in chicago for recall code 15s18. Took to dealer that was the diagnostic code they got but said my VIN not covered. Wants 2500 to repair. My car has two plaques that say made in chicago. One in glovebox and one in door frame. Car has 70107 miles. I have to repair because I have to drive 1800 miles next week to handle closing my fathers estate. I feel like this should be covered under recall.
Power steering assist failure the same as what is described in recall 15s18 ( NHTSA campaign number: 15v34000 ) but cars made after a certain date are not covered by that recall, even when the exact same issue is happening. The recall needs to be extended to later models for the same issue.

After fueling up, started car(2014 Taurus) to leave and was unable to turn steering wheel. Instrument cluster panel stated there was a power steering failure and service was required. Was able to drive away from pumps with no steering to park out of the way. After 20 minutes and restarting the car was able to clear the failure message by clicking on the "ok" acknowledging the failure and the steering came back. Not sure if it was the clicking on the "ok" that released the steering or not. Drove the car home at great risk and have it scheduled for service on wed 3/42020. From investigating the problem it appears Ford should be forced to do a recall on this model and the problem, they did for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 model they need to include the 2014. The extended warranty should cover this but it appears to clearly be a Ford design/engineering problem Ford should pay for.

Power steering stops working. Hundreds of thousands recalled for this expensive faulty/ poor engineering. 2013 Taurus but not my . Called Ford they don't even want to talk to you. Don't use the car anymore. Can cause a serious accident and I don't see how Ford wouldn't be responsible. Known issue they just pick and choose who gets helped. Car becomes too hard to handle even for a man , can't even imagine if it happen to my wife.
I was picking up my son after work. I had driven roughly 45 minutes and parked waiting for him for roughly 10 minutes. After he got in, we drove to the end of the street and turned on to the main road. 2 warnings popped up suddenly. 1 for power steering failure and 1 for stability control failure. Steering instantly became extremely difficult to control. I was able to pull into a gas station, and popped the hood. I wasn't aware at this point it was electronic power assisted steering. I quickly realized there was no power steering reservoir. I turned the car back on and steering control seemed to be restored. So I continued on. As I turned back on to the main road and the power steering failed again. Luckily I was only going about 500 feet down the road and managed to pull it in despite the increase in steering difficulty. The power steering failure has been present ever since.

While driving my car, 1 weeks ago, power steering totally failed. Was going about 35 miles an hour. The power steering assist fault warning came on my display. Had to man handle the car to the side of the road where I shut the car down. I proceeded to restart engine at which time the warning reset itself and power steering came back. Got my car home with no further problems. Just yesterday after starting my car same warning came on with total failure of steering system. Luckily I wasn't moving. I investigated this problem online and found there was a recall for this same problem. However, my vehicle is not included in this recall. Also noted this is a common problem as stated by many in the recall forums I viewed online. The recall for the defect was issued 06/02/2015 (recall # 15v340000). I would also note that the power steering fault did not reset itself this time and the power steering itself is totally disabled.

On a number of occasions in the past 30 days my 2015 Taurus has has a loss of power to the steering system which makes it difficult to drive it happens at low and high speeds it happened at my sons graduation in a parking lot full of students and parents and could not steer the car it also happened on a main road traveling in my lane around a hard turn in road and the steering failed I stopped the car on the shoulder by slamming on the brakes thank god no one was behind me and it happened at the grocery store turning into a parking spot on 2 occasions the way to make it work again is if you turn off car and restart it and it's fine till the next time a light comes on on the dash that reads power steering system failure I contacted Ford about the problem and I was told that it wasn't covered under warranty and there was no recalls in and that it needed a new steering gear and rack and it would cost me 1500$ to do the job I have looked into any recalls online and they did have a recall on a the power steering asssist on earlier models of the Taurus 2012-2013 so makes me think that they know there is a problem and won't issue a recall are they waiting for someone to get hurt or possibly killed as I said previously the power steering fails at all speeds and gives no indication that it is about to happen something should be done thank you.

While driving the power steering system failed jerking the car to the right. This caused me to graze the curb. Fortunately I was able to stop the vehicle before jumping the curb and hitting a tree. I limped the car home without power steering. I have seen the safety recall for the same issues for 2011 and up Ford Taurus. Since my particular model, sho is the only vehicle in the Taurus that incorporates this system it was not included in the recall this never notified of the possibility of this occurring. It is the second occurrence with 2011 and up recalls that has happened to my sho and never informed.
