The brakes will activate by themselves with no foot on brake. With no notice it will turn into a full panic stop. Simply driving and all of a sudden the brakes go to full lock. A very very dangerous situation. Once the speed gets below a certain mile per hour it changes. If one stops and turns the engine off and restarts its fine. This started early this year and now has become more frequent. The last 2 times car was driven this has happened. When it is scanned its coming up with 2 u codes p0100-20 and p0121-20.

I was driving eastbound, on a city street, approaching the intersection with a stop sign. When I pressed on the brakes, it didn't slow down. In fact, the car was going faster. So I put the car in park, hoping to slow it down, but it didn't work. Then I jumped the curb, hoping that would slow the car down, but it didn't work. I tried to avoid hitting a truck that was going northbound on the cross road, but I couldn't avoid is so I hit the truck.

The rear window shade pops up and down when I put the car in reverse. Also the brakes roar when the brake is depressed hard. I've read a lot of complaints on the window shade. This appears to be a bad option that's put on a Ford.

In March 2016 my vehicle began having problems. When making a turn, right front wheel spontaneously grabs intermittently. This disables the vehicle for a period of time. This has almost caused an accident several times, as it happens as I'm heading out into traffic. I have taken the vehicle into the valley Ford dealership here in kalispell, montana 3 times in an effort to resolve this issue. The first time I took it in right after it first started happening, they told me it was the brakes. So I paid $1070 to have the brakes and rotters replaced. However, this did not resolve the problem. I have since taken the vehicle back to them 2 more times and they have been unable to resolve the issue. I am very concerned that this is a very dangerous ongoing problem. I am seeking your help in resolution in this matter. This has occurred about a dozen times.

I entered the highway accelerating normally to blend in with traffic in the right travelling lane. Within seconds the car accelerated on its' own up to any alarming rate of speed. I slammed on brakes- nothing happened. Attempted to put car in neutral- nothing happened. I could not steer the car as it was going at least 100mph. I weaved between 3 lanes of traffic before hitting a car's bumper and flipping over 2-3 times and landed upright in the ditch in the medium. I was awake the entire time- in sheer terror. Had I not been wearing a seatbelt I likely would have been killed. The car was totaled. To my knowledge this 2004 Ford Taurus 24vt has had many other accidents and Ford motor CO. Has not issued a recall. This is inexcusable!.

I have problems with brake and transmission passes the changes and gives a hit. The brake is going to the bottom and makes noise, on occasion gets hard the pedal and no brakes,I was talking to a person who has a Ford edge 2010 and it passed the same, the person called to Ford and had a recall and Ford fixed it, I called for my Taurus no recall of that, but it is curious that suffers from the same problem and Ford not give me a recall . Sometimes when I accelerated the car does not respond as suppose to.
We had several close calls where the car would not stop, and slide on dry pavement, and wet conditions . The car had new brakes, rotors, tires, but still would have trouble stopping, unfortunately my daughter was driving the car today, and hit another car. I just replaced the tires again a few months go, thinking the tires were the problem. I had several close calls myself, and I think there is a big problem with this car stopping. Thank god nobody was hurt, but this could have been much worse. My daughter was going approximately 30 miles an hour, and she was on a city street, conditions were wet , but she had plenty of time to stop.

Brought car into three different dealer to diagnose why all dash lights were coming on and off. Each time the pcm was wiped clean and was told they were unsure. The last time I brought the car in was for a possible bad speedometer reading as was pulled over for going 70 in a 55 as which speedometer was reading 55. Brought in for both concerns and determined that the abs module was bad and the instrument cluster is bad also. Speedometer being off is a safety hazard for all and should have no reason to go out. No telling how long speedometer has been out, but the abs module started problems around 90,000mi.
My break lights won't stay on and it's not wanting to shift from park there was a previous recall in 2004 for same issues but my vehicle does not show any recalls.
When I stopped at a rest area I noticed smoke coming from the right rear wheel area. The brake locked up. I am concerned about a fire hazard, or failure of the brakes to function properly.

The contact owns a 2001 Ford Taurus. While driving at low speeds, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. The failure occurred intermittently. In addition, when the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was able to avoid a crash by shifting the gear into neutral. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 132,000.
When braking, the brake pedal almost goes to the floor before the brakes engage. Braking performance is greatly diminished, potentially leading to a crash. A local repair shop diagnosed the problem to a failure on the hydraulic side of the anti-lock braking (abs) module. The abs module is on backorder at the dealership and parts supplier, possibly indicating an emergent issue that the manufacturer has not responded to adequately.
Hello, this is the second time this car's accelerator petal went out of control (Ford Taurus). On yesterday, I had my daughter in the car and the car started to accelerate on it's on faster, faster and faster. It was so scary my daughter said mommy you are shaking. Even while holding the breaks down I was able to slow it down but the car was still moving. This happened previously about 8 months or so ago. That incident was really bad. I had to call 911 while driving down the road unable to stop the vehicle. As I was sliding on my breaks I almost got hit in the back as well as almost hit someone else. This happened in a high speed busy traffice area. I took the car back to the dealer. They told me it was nothing they could do. They first charged me over a hundred dollars to look at it. Then when he did a test drive he refunded my money. I still owe a great deal of money on the car. So, I can't afford pay the car note and purchase a new car. I had contacted the Ford corporate office. They inform me that not enough fatalities have taken place for them to recall the vehicle. I am unable to go to work and have no way of getting there and no money to pay this car off and purchase a new card. I contacted performance Ford on s. Blvd in charlotte during the previous incident. They were nice but sent me home with the same car and now the issues are back again. I am terrified to drive my car, recently divorced with a daughter and college. Can someone please help me.
" takata recall" abs ! light on ip break light on senser a speed lights on.
My daughter-in-law was using the car going approx. 30mph, when she attempted to break, but the car would not slow down and the acceleration remained constant (there was no decelleration until the rpms randomly lowered after flooring the breaks for a considerable period of time) almost causing an accident with the car in front. I then had the car checked out and recieved throttle body work, totalling approx $450. 00 including labor. The condition of the car had not changed, upon arriving at my home there was a strong smell of burnt rubber and smoke rising from the front right hood of the car. I then contacted Ford and was told to get an appointment with a local dealership.
Abs and traction control lights on. Poor control on snowy roads.
Was driving down the road at 60mph and my vehicle shut off. Couldn't hardly push the brake in or move my steering wheel. Had to quickly put in park to start vehicle back up. Popped up on dash. "vehicle not in park".
Vehicle exhibits failure state as detailed in Ford recall 04s12. Vehicle has failed in the same manner multiple times in the past, however cannot document what exact days the vehicle has failed in such a manner. The stop light switch/wiring has failed in the closed position once, in the open position twice, including today, and the vehicle's VIN was never entered as part of recall 04s12.
The contact owns a 2003 Ford Taurus. When the contact depressed the brake pedal, the brake lamp became inoperable intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 189,000.
Brakes lock up and won't release. Happen 4 times since initial 8/20/14. Continue to bring it back to Ford dealer and they cannot fix.

This has happened to me a couple of times already. I was driving behind my boyfriend we where headed to his house, and my car started accelerating at a fast unusual pace. He stopped in front of me at a stop light, and as I was pressing on my brakes there was a couple of loud clunks coming from inside my engine. I was just riding my brakes, luckily the car was able to slow down and come to a stop. When the light turned green, it was behaving normally. I've looked this up, and noticed that this was a recurring problem with almost all models of Ford Taurus. Yet there is no recall? I hope you realize how dangerous this problem actually is, and I hope that something is done about it soon.
While driving on the expressway near dearborn, mi, my 2010 Ford Taurus began to increase in speed on its on. The last time I looked at it before I crashed, the odometer was at about 80 miles per hour. I could not stop the car by pressing on the brakes. I was getting close to other cares, so I turned to the right to avoid a collision with another car, so I hit the guard rail and the car rolled over. Thankfully, I was not hurt and no one else was either. My car, of course, was totalled and based on michigan law, I also received a ticket.
Car has unintended acceleration. Car is very dangerous to drive. Have had to take car away from my daughter. Local Ford dealers know nothing about this issue. There are article online regarding this issue. I am at a loss of what to do with this car. Will accel. Up to 70mph and is not stopable. Thanks for your time mark townsend 812-430-5753.
