The contact owns a 2012 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph the rpm would go to 4000 and the speedometer would not change. The check engine light was illuminated. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and inspected. The contact stated that the hood was lifted and she observed smoke emanating from the engine compartment. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the motor block, camshaft, reverser gear, and transmission housing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 158,000.
