Fuel gauge doesn't work. Have run out of gas twice. Not a safe situation. GMC knows and hasn't issued a recall.
Driving on the highway after putting fuel in and fuel gauge suddenly shows empty and my vehicle stalled. The fuel guage would then show full at times then empty. Now it shows empty all the time and has stalled 3 more times while driving in traffic.
Reading numerous complaints that compare to mine the fuel gauge, oil gauges, air conditioner are all malfunctioning in my car and I'm very upset because all of this should have been recalled. I purchased my car brand new in 2005 and I will never buy a GMC car again for this reason it's one thing to recall repair parts that were broken that to repair malfunction parts. Very disappointed. In short my gauges don't work, my air conditioner only works on one side and now my headlights low bean don't work. GMC needs to recall and repair.
Initially, when the car was filled with fuel, it immediately indicated that the car was empty and the engine light came on. Once you used a couple of gallons the fuel gauge began working and the engine light went off. Just recently the system is not correcting itself and the fuel gauge will constantly go between full and empty so I never know how much fuel I have in it. Also the engine light is remaining on.
Initially, when the car was filled with fuel, the fuel gauge would automatically go to empty and the engine light would come on. After driving several miles, the gauge would correct itself and the engine light would go off. After months of this, the system does not correct itself and I never know how much gas I have - it constantly goes from full to empty.

Fuel gauge goes to empty when full stopped in traffic on i75 with grand babies they say its the fuel sensor and sending units are bad.
Inaccurate fuel gauge caused the 2007 GMC Envoy to unexpectedly run out of gasoline and stall as the vehicle was turning at an intersection. The engine shut off and the power steering failed to operate as other vehicles were approaching the intersection. I was not able to get the vehicle completely off of the road before it stopped. This could have caused a serious crash. Gm needs to be held accountable for correcting this serious safety related defect. Why has there been a recall covering certain vehicles under NHTSA campaign number 14v223000 but not in the case of this 2007 GMC Envoy when the end result of the defect can also cause this vehicle to run out of fuel and increase the risk of a crash?.
After filling up with gas and then proceeding to start the engine, the fuel gauge indicates a false reading of no fuel and the yellow light is constantly on.

As reported by many other gm customers my vehicle has experienced the same fuel gauge/sending unit failure. It began slowly with minor inaccuracies in fuel amount. Then it quickly and steadily got worse until the fuel gauge doesn't work at all. I understand that gm acknowledges the problem, but refuses to pay the full price. I believe the NHTSA should force them to fully repair their faulty equipment which renders the driver blind as to how much fuel they may have. This could be very dangerous.

Driving on the highway the vehicle suddenly read empty on the fuel gauge, then the panel said low oil pressure shut off engine. I ran out of gas on a busy highway passing lane almost causing a bad accident with my 5 year old in the back seat as I could not tell my fuel level. The fuel gauge would work sporadically over the next few days and the low oil pressure would go away and come back. When I had this checked out it was thought to be the oil sending unit so it was changed along with the fuel sending unit. The fuel sensor was resolved at a cost of $300 but the low oil pressure came back on even though oil was well maintained. Suddenly on 3/1/2012 the engine ran load when started up. I had towed to the shop where (gm where they determined the engine was no good. I had it towed to another shop that determined the engine was no good as well. I had to pay to replace the engine almost $5000. I then looked online for this issue and found a website trailvoy. Com (represent chevy trailblazer and GMC Envoy). Here I found 1000's of post of people having the same issues looking to file law suits and wondering why we can have no recall on this dangerous vehicle. There ore 1000's of people having low oil pressure, dead engines with low mileage vehicles, run out of gas on busy roads such as myself and much much more. The gm issues we've experienced and are experiencing has been here long before the current issues of gm vehicles. How can we get someone willing to have this vehicle and issues on the recall list and get reimbursed for the 1000's of dollars spent to repair this very defective vehicle. If a petition will do it please shine some light on this. I had received post on the forum from numerous people willing to join a class action suit and many were consulting attorneys on how to move forward with this. This is a major issue that we desperately need the NHTSA to look into.
Hbn26-16842. Our 2005 GMC Envoy has always had a faulty fuel gauge and has caused our family to be stranded a few times without gas while travelling far from home. We took it into a GMC dealer who wanted $ 950 for parts and repairs. We just dont have that kind of money. GMC has always been aware of this problem and has not offered to fix it nor have a recall on this faulty gas gauge. 856,000 gm suvs under investigation for faulty fuel gauges federal regulators are investigating 865,000 general motors suvs, including the 2005-’07 Chevrolet trailblazer and Buick rainier, for faulty fuel gauges that are inaccurate. The 2005-’06 Chevrolet trailblazer ext, the 2005-’07 GMC Envoy, the 2005-’06 GMC Envoy xl and the 2005-’07 SAAB 9-7x are also affected vehicles being investigated.

Fuel gauge stopped working in April 2011. Showing empty even when full. Took to dealer. Mentioned I heard trailblazers also having issue. Was told no recalls. Had to pay for repairs. Finally got notice can get portion of money back. It took months to get portion of money back. I had to keep following up even though they confirmed they had my paperwork. Strike 1. Had car in for 100,000 mile service, 9/24 - 9/25/2012, only to go back later because of car seeming to now have issues accelerating and car was not reset after oil change. Told needed engine mounts. Disputed this as seems strange car was running and sounding fine before 100k mile service. Went back and forth with dealer. Took car back to have master tech check and also because oil gauge stuck in one spot. Went in 12/31/2012. Was quoted repair price for oil sensor and now repair quote not only has engine mount replacement but also quoted trans mount replacement. Really. . . . Refused repair. Strike 2 and 3. Btw, also needed new tires. I went to other dealer approximately 35 minutes away instead to get tires. On 3/5/2013, on way home notice speedometer showing about 90 miles even though gps says I'm only doing about 67. Exited interstate, shut car off and turned back on. No change. Got home, turned car off. Speedometer stuck at 20 miles. Morning of 3/6/13, started car, speedometer stuck at 7 miles. Worked full day. Got home and it was back to zero after turning car off. Current odometer is approximately 106,102. These people need to own up to their mistakes and errors. We spend enough money with them. Grass may not be greener with other make vehicle but customer service goes a long way!!!!! will take a lot to get me to buy another GMC or similar vehicle.
Fuel gauge is inaccurate. Reads completely empty then moves up and down while driving around town. I never know how much gas I really have in it.
Since February 2011 fuel sensor problems inaccurate reading fuel gauge displays full then empty indicator light turns on then off, driving on the 10 freeway east with grandchildren aboard very close to accident had to immediately pull off to side no fuel in tank. Reported problem to mark christopher auto center ontario calf. Replace fuel sensor also recommend fuel pump module replace at the same time since fuel tank was off vehicle estimate for service $324. 88 tax included to replace fuel pump module parts and labor $800. 00. Very costly since on set income just service Envoy replace fuel sensor total amount due $740. 34. Received letter from general motors 8/9/2011 reimbursing charges of 50% only for fuel sensor charges paid. Year to date continual problems with fuel gauge reading, returned to dealership on February 10, 2011 did explain fuel gage reading were inaccurate, service technician placed on scope & scanned for malfunctions stated no problems found. Personally upset for the amount paid thinking gm only cares about labor charges and price on parts contributes to their profit no losses. Customer service is no longer their priority. Today speedometer operates inaccurate reads over 150+miles, oil gauge is locked, rpm gauge inaccurate fluctuates back & forth, fuel gauge reads fuel present actually empty indicator light displays empty or inoperative stops suddenly confusing me adding fuel especially with todays price. Water temp gauge reads vehicle over 180 degrees so incorrect. Today disable service connected vietnam veteran also two family members unemployed on set income how in hell to get this problem resolved before a accident occurs on some isolate dark highway, everyone texts, cell phone usage, gps reading their screens little attention to the road ahead. Requesting help soon with my issue, notified general motors of this today through mail.
Fuel gauge not reading correct fuel level. Vehicle reads full one minute and empty the next. Vehicle has stalled while driving. This was fixed once under warranty and this is the second time it has occurred I am the original owner. The dealership will not cover the repair. I understand that GMC is being investigated by your organization for this issue and I would like to be added to NHTSA action number: pe11014 as part of my complaint.
