My driver side power window / door regulator assembly cable frayed and the window would not move up or down until repaired. This happened to the driver side door window in August 2014. Now in March 2015, being 7 months later the same issue has happened to the front passenger side door window / door regulator assembly. I use this vehicle for less than 5000 miles a year, I feel this issue needs to be looked in to for the defect of faulty cabling / poor quality. This will be the second time that I will pay out of pocket for the same issue within a year.

Following an independence day baseball game and fireworks display, I went to the parking lot to load my family and some personal belongings. I opened the rear hatch and felt a slight baulking on the right side. In the next fraction of a second a shot gun sound went off and the window exploded in my face raining heavy glass into the back of the car and the parking lot. Miraculously, I received only a minor cut across my eyebrow, but a large chunk was cut out of the thumb of my right hand for which I had to go to urgent care and may have to consult with a plastic surgeon as it heals/ scars in order to retain flexibility in my thumb.

Simply driving down a smooth road, no bumps, and rear hatch glass shattered. I've read hundreds of complaints about this happening to other people's Envoys. At first I thought somebody shot out my window because who has ever heard of a window just exploding for no reason. Well, apparently GMC found a way to make windows, "just explode", and then weasels their way out of paying to fix this embarrassment of american engineering. From what I've read GMC has refused all cases compensation for this problem, so I came here to voice my frustration because I don't have $795 to fix my truck. I am wondering if this problem should be considered for a class action lawsuit. My 1999 vw jetta was part of a class action lawsuit because the ground effect trim would get caught on parking blocks and cause damage, but this window exploding is a much more serious problem. So I will call GMC on Jan. 2 when offices open back up, and depending on how that goes I might call up a buddy who practices law to see what the chances are for a class action suit.

Wind shield wipers would go on . Now they won't go off. Engine light wont go off feels like the car is going to stall out. Mechanic said it will get worse and will start stalling out. I see a lot of complaints on these cars about the same thing I have going on. My gas gauge wont work. I brought my car for the recall for the drivers door last year and now my keys won't unlock the doors. Only the remote will open it. When I called about the doors and windows not working they said my VIN wasn't under recall I called you and you got it fixed for me. I think they need to check the electrical problems on the Envoys. I have the same complaints so something is wrong with these vehicle.
Vehicle wipers starting turning on when wipers were set to off. This problem has progressively gotten worse . It started as only intermittently and occasionally having the wipers turn on for a couple swipes and then shutting off. Now they (the windshield wipers) start swiping when the vehicle is started and you can hear the windshield washer pump running, the wipers will run until I turn the vehicle off. At times this is for 30 minutes or longer.
After six months having purchased this used vehicle from a local dealer, I noticed that the driver's door was not working properly, nor were the power window devices, controls, power locks and also the visibility of driver's rear window. I noticed that the door would overheat and sometimes I can smell an odor similar to when something is burning. I have taken the vehicle to a mechanic and finding the solution to the problem has been difficult. On June 2013, I read on the msn website that the GMC Envoys for 2006 and 2007 were being recalled (recall #13v248000) in regards to driver's master power window switch. Since I am having this same problem, with my 2003 Envoy, I called GMC and explained to her that I am having that same issue with my 2003 Envoy. She indicated that GMC would pay for the diagnostic fee labor even though my car's mileage was not under warranty and that the recall was only for 2006 & 2007 Envoys. She connected me to keisha kennedy for an appt. With balise the following day. She assigned a case number 71-1219059371. The following day, August 28, 2013, I went to my appointment at 11 am. And left my car. About an hour later, I get a call from GMC indicating to me that she was sorry, but that GMC could not cover the cost of diagnostic fee labor. I said, "that is not what you told me yesterday" and she replied, "I am sorry, I was not authorized to tell you that". I said to her, "I wouldn't have taken time off from work, ask for a ride, be without transporation if you had told me that before". I also said to her, "how can you tell me you are covering the cost yesterday and today change your mind". All she responded was, "I am sorry". I asked to speak to her supervisor by the name of michelle and the supervisor just said that her employee was not authorized to say to me that GMC would cover the cost. I still have the same safety issue.
Low beam relay (headlamp driver module (hdm) burned out--same thing happened 4-9-2015. This time melted the fan relay and fused the two relays together. 2006 & 2007 Envoys were recalled for the same identical problem. The hdm overheated and caused headlamp and daytime running lights to fail and not illuminate. GMC plans to charge approximately $800 for entire new set up because box is not sold without all relays. Was told possible further expense if electrical problems are found.

We parked our GMC Envoy in the driveway the evening of 6/8/13 around 7:30 pm. I hadn't used the rear hatch at all on this day. My husband was outside and left and came back in his vehicle after midnight. So sometime in the early hours of 6/9/13 the rear window exploded. At first we though something or someone broke it, however there were no foreign objects found that could have caused it the break. It wasn't a nick or crack, the glass was completely shattered. Most of the glass was on the outside of the vehicle and all over the side walk with only a small amount on the inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was locked from the inside. After doing an internet search I found many other instances of the exact same thing happening to other GMC Envoys. In some cases people were near enough and some being inside the vehicle and incurred injuries with no known or apparent cause for the glass to be shattered. Thank goodness we were inside sleeping and there were no injuries. The problem comes in that I cannot afford to have it fixed even with my insurance as my deductible hasn't been met, so we have plastic over it. With all the reports of this happening to other people GMC claims to have never heard of such a thing. I'm going to take it in to a dealership this morning, but wonder if anything can be done to compensate replacing the glass.

Rear wiper runs continually. Replaced switch on dash but that did not solve problem. Continual movement of the wiper blade is distracting to normal driving.

Driving along rapidly with rear defroster on and blade wiping with outside temperature of about 0 degrees and with a loud blast the rear window suddenly exploded loudly into hundreds of pieces flinging shards of glass into the vehicle causing me to almost loose control of the car into a snow bank or opposing lane. Now I am out $650 for a replacement but gladly no one got hurt.

Driving at approx. 2:30 pm in intermittently rainy conditions- I suddenly found myself unable to control my vehicle and had trouble seeing my surroundings even though I had new rain-x wipers on. While I applied the brakes they did not work as effectively as they should. Additionally, after the first and second impact (multiple vehicles were involved)- no air bags deployed. I was the only person in the vehicle and still the drivers side air bag did not deploy. Resulted in two fatalities in another vehicle while I suffered a head injury, facial fractures that required surgery, and a broken collar bone from the seat belt that I could not afford the medical intervention required for repair.

While driving a neighborhood street in maine, I first noticed my front, driver's side power window going up and down on its own. Then, white smoke started pouring from the power window controls. I pulled into a nearby driveway to pull the fuse, but it must have blown on its own because the window controls stopped working. I drove it straight to the dealership where the power window motor replacement was more than $500. Ouch! I'm just glad the entire car didn't burst into flames.

While driving I turned on my left blinker to turn. The wiper came on and it sprayed windshield washer fluid. I put it back into the neutral position and they kept spraying and would not stop. I pulled over turned the vehicle off and back on. The wipers came back on immediately and continued to spray wind washer fluid. Then my speakers started to play a distorted sound. I turned off vehicle again about 4 more times and every time the wiper blades and spray came back on. I had to stay parked on the side of the road for about 10 minutes then they stopped. Or so I thought, as I started to drive and hit 20mph the wiper blades came on and it started spraying again till it finished the entire gallon of wind washer fluid. As I pulled into my drive way the wiper blades kept on cleaning with no liquid. I turned off the vehicle and the wiper blades continued for a few more seconds then stopped. This seems like an electrical problem and I am wondering what is my next step from here?.
