Brake Disc Problems of GMC Jimmy

Upon applying brakes there was a grinding noise and vehicle would not stop. Consumer had to pull into another lane to avoid hitting another car. Cause unknown. Please provide any further information.

I was kind of upset for a vehicle I bought used with only 19216 miles and numerous things went wrong from day I purchased, already brought in to dealer right after purchasing for other things, but I had to purchase all 4 brakes and rotors all the way around and replace them myself since it would have cost me big bucks. I can't understand why they all went bad so fast.

Consumer has had to replace brake pads and rotors several times. Vehicle checked by dealer, who advised consumer that rotors were defective and being warped. Consumer very concerned about brake effectiveness while driving vehicle.

Consumer was going 30mph on a dirt road and suddenly applied brakes to keep from hitting an animal. Vehicle spun around, and wheels locked up. Consumer went to 1 dealer, who said there was no problem with rear brakes. Consumer was pulling into a dirt driveway and noticed left rear wheel had locked up. Wheel left tracts in dirt. Consumer decided to get a 2nd opinon on problem. After plugging the vehicle, it showed there was a problem with abs system. Dealer explained how this was first year that vehicles have the integrated abs, and were having alot of problems with them. Also, rear rotors were frozen and calipers needed to be replaced. Consumer states there has been 7 brake repairs, consumer is still experiencing abs problems. Center link and idler arm wore and were replaced, consumer is still experiencing steering problems.

When applying abs brakes pedal went to the floor, causing extended stopping distance , nearly resulting in a collision. Please give any further details. Consumer states he was advised that there was complete failure of the master cylinder abs unit had to be replaced, and new front brakes.

Anti-lock brakes failed numerous times on off-ramp. Almost caused serious accident. Brakes pads, rotors and master cylinder replaced with no improvement. I contacted general motors, they claim problem is caused by "stupid drivers" .

Brakes failed several times once resulting in a collision.

Ongoing problem with brake pads / shoes are experiencing excessive wear within every 10,000 mile of wear. Pads and shoe needs replacement, and rotors would needs turning or replacement. Also, needs to applied hard on pedal to get the vehicle to stop. Dealer notified. Feel free to provide further details.

We have paid incredable repair costs for this less than four years old car!( dot number: tire size: p205/75r15 ).

Front brakes failed.

Abs brake problems; while drivng on normal road conditions and applying the brakes, a howling noise came from the brakes. When taken to dealership, dealer stated that brakes were worn out, and needed a right rotor. Both rotors were damaged. The right rotor was replaced and the brake pads were replaced. The left rotor had to be grinded down. There has not been a problem with the brakes system in the last year.

Brakes: when driving brake pedal goes completely to the floor and does not stop the vehicle. Had brake pads rotors and master cylinder replaced. Vehicle is in shop now. .

When applying brakes while going over railroad tracks vehicle would shimmy & make grinding noises. Brake pads would be spongy & would be wearing out excessively. Brake rotors have been resurfaced service times. Entire brake system was replaced at least 8 different times & now needs to be replaced again. Abs braking system are kelsey hayes.

Front brakes replaced due to failure.

Driving less than 5 mph on a rainy day on incline went to apply brakes, heard loud noise. Brakes became inoperative, causing the vehicle to pass through intersection, and longer stopping distance. Prior to this, dealer had replaced rotors and shoes.
