1 Brake Loud Noise problem of the 2000 GMC Safari

Failure Date: 04/17/2002

When approached a red light, driver applied brakes, vehicle did not stop, and went trhough intersection. Vehicle has done similarly in atleast two other ocassions. When applying brakes it produces a loud noise, and brakes faile to respond ( as the last incident) or extended braking distance. Out of the three incidents two were at speeds of 35 to 40 miles, and one at the speed of 60 miles. The failure to respond is intermittent , but clunking and clapping noises from the front brakes are a more persisten and common. Vehicle has been in dealer for front brake reapirs for 8 different times in 2 years. Failure of brakes to respond is agravated when there are "bumps" in the road.

2 Brake Loud Noise problem of the 2000 GMC Safari

Upon depressing brake pedal whenever there is a bump in road surface consumer heard a loud noise, and brakes failed to respond, causing extended stopping distance. Consumer has contacted dealer, dealer unable to determine cause of problem. Please provide any further details.
