Hood vent fell off while driving normal speeds on the highway and hit the car behind me. I feel that the cheap plastic is defective and could cause a problem with the part going airborne at high speeds and hitting other cars.
While driving 70mph on highway sunroof exploded. Screen was in place so glass shards did not enter the cabin. There was not an overpass nor large trucks in the area to be caused by debris or thrown rocks.

I live in oregon, my truck that I purchased from a private owner from utah in June of 2019 had 37,300 miles today's date March 1 2020 my truck has 39,100 miles. A couple of days ago I changed to my oregon license plate. While under the truck I noticed a lot of rust on many parts of the brakes, suspension and frame especially when I lowered the spare tire which showed severe rust damage. This truck has an extreme amount of rust for a vehicle built in 2017. I consider this to be a safety hazard especially because drivers use this type of truck to haul or tow heavy loads.

Tl- the contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph a loud popping noise suddenly occurred. Upon inspection it was discovered that the rear powered sliding window had exploded. The contact indicated that during the incident the window was closed. No further information was available. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer don franklin GMC(3380 richmond rd. Lexington ky) and the manufacturer(9-5803553299) was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 78,000. Jft.
Our GMC has experienced 3 exterior door handle failures. We paid to have the 1st broken handle repaired as it was not operable from the outside. This makes for a dangerous evacuation experience in the event of an emergency. We chose a non-dealer repair facility due to the cost of using a dealer. This repair has held up well. Since that initial repair 2 more exterior handles have become inoperable. It's only a matter of time before the 4th and final handle fails. This vehicle is no longer under warranty. However, it's only very lightly used and has less than 60k miles on it. A 75% door handle failure rate is unacceptable by anyone's standard. Due to the cost of the repairs we have not been able to fix these remaining 2 defective handles. GMC, bbb and north county GMC in escondido, CA have been of no assistance. We are always prepared to perform the required maintenance on our vehicles. In no way is the repair of 3 door handles a "normal" maintenance item. This is a severe safety hazard in the event the an emergency evacuation is required. There is no way for 2 of the doors can be opened from the exterior of the vehicle. It's unfortunate GMC sees this as "defective" but is not willing to assist in the repairs. All 3 of the handle broke while trying to gain access to the vehicle from the outside. The vehicle was stationary each time. All handles are usable from the interior of the vehicle. The 2 unrepaired handles do not work from the exterior. We want to fix them and would like assistance in doing so.

Dashboard on my GMC Sierra denali has 2 major cracks. This is a known defect with these vehicles dashboards. First crack is over the gauges on the dash, and the second is right over top of the air bag. This is a serious issue with no recalls or assistance from vehicle manufacturers. The cracks are either started via driving and cracking due to vibration of the road, or they crack from premature wear via the sun fading the materials. It is a very serious safety concern, seeing how if the air bag were to deploy it will send many sharp pieces of dashboard plastic into the passenger or myself the driver. This issue needs to be addressed, it is a very expensive fix, and a safety issue that needs an immediate recall or address.

The factory installed running boards are unsafe. The treads need to be larger, more aggressive and rotated 90^. As they are they are simply skid pads when wet or frozen. You simply need to try and enter or exit the vehicle and see how easily your foot sides off causing the person the fall. I have taken several slips/falls. Today I hit the back of my head on the door jam. Just rotating the tread ninety degrees would help.

Frame coating is peeling off the back of the frame and in other areas. Excessive rust for a vehicle that is 3 years old in a temperate climate. Only appears to be affecting frame covered with waxy undercoat. Very little rust and no peeling on areas that have other paints/coatings.

I was parked on a sloped driveway (about 10 - 15 degrees). I started the engine, stepped on the brake pedal and took the car out of park into drive. Brake pedal was normal. I started to roll forward and when I pushed the brake pedal the car did not slow. I slammed the brake pedal and it went all the way to the floor. At this point I went off the end of the driveway onto a 45 degree downward sloped lawn; then into a wooded area at the top of a ravine. I slammed into a tree. The car was judged a total loss by my insurance company. I did not get a brake warning light. The airbags did not deploy. The car was serviced at a union park GMC (wilmington, DE) two days prior. Including brake inspection. Cause of brake failure was determined to be ruptured brake line. Both front and rear brakes were failed.

My son and I were driving my GMC Sierra 2014 to his friends house before we crashed. My son was driving and has his learner's permit, however, had been driving for 4 months. At a fork in the road I told my son quickly to make a right rather than left and we crashed into an improperly grated wall of dirt causing the truck to go from 40 mph to 0 with my son having his seatbelt on, but I did not. Neither airbags deployed and both of us sustained serious injuries. My son broke his nose and I am suffering from a broken nose, concussion and a bursted vertebrae. Neither airbags deployed which could've made a huge difference on our injuries.
The front bumpers plastic fog light assembly becomes lose and falls off. This can cause crash and accident because of falling off parts from car. This seems to be a known issue with the plastic bumper parts for the fog lights. The suggestion is to replace this with a chrome or metal bumper so that plastic peaces do not become warped and break off. This happens at the bolt points for the front bumper fog light holder entire plastic peace.
While on vacation I bought a 2014 Sierra denali that was previously driven by a gm executive and bought by the dealership in w. Va. After coming home I looked underneath and saw that the frame and driveshaft were covered in rust. Have read other complaints on the internet about this same problem with this year and model truck.
Excessive corrosion on frame of vehicle. May not pass yearly safety inspection.

The accident happened in a parking lot. As I was turning at the end of row of parked vehicles ,a pick-up truck was backing out of a parking place. I applied the brakes but there was no response only a ratcheting noise coming from the front end of my pick-up. I put the truck in neutral but it continued to go forward until my truck ran into the other one. This happened at a very low speed but there was still quite a bit of damage to the trucks. It almost felt like the truck was being pulled forward on its own. I got my truck in to a mechanic and he replaced the left front wheel speed sensor. This accident was small but I could just as easily run into someone in a wheelchair or someone that could not get out of the way. I found out later that the truck was recalled before I owned it (at 43000 miles) for the same problem. The truck now has 103000 miles on it and it appears that the original problem has not been solved.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra. The contact stated that the vehicle was designed with large holes in the grill. While driving various speeds, weeds would enter the grill and accumulate near the radiator. As a result, the vehicle overheated. The dealer stated that the vehicle was designed in that fashion. No repairs were made and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 10. Updated 8/22/cn.
The rear end went out and fenders are coming loose universal joints are going out replaced them, radio went out, front bumper fell out of place, fuel relay switch went out , what happened to GMC top of the line trucks and I've had GMC before and never had this problem and had them for years part store does not have right numbers for universal joint.
While the vehicle was being driven, it just went dead, no engine, no electric, no nothing. The vehicle was left in place and at some point, caught fire and burned. A total loss. To date, the insurance company has not paid me for my loss but rather has gone to great lengths to investigate me personally, looking for any reason to not pay. So, I've been making two vehicle payments for the last 8 months. As a result, I am struggling financially.
At this occurrence the hood latch does not keep the hood tight when closed. The hood rattles at speeds over 35mph and appears as though it is going to open. As a result of attempting to sufficiently securing the hood, I subsequently dented the hood. I have had the body department at the local dealership look at it and they found that the hood latch needed to be adjusted. After another 2500 miles, this rattle has returned. The complaint is that this is the second 2013 Sierra denali that I have owned since October 2012, since the dealership bought back the first one after numerous problems including the transmission being replaced at 6250 miles and numerous efforts to fix the hood. Same problem two trucks is a cause for concern!.
Description: 2002 GMC Sierra?82,xxx. 00 miles. While dropping my daughter off at school, I stopped at a light, accelerated to make it up the hill, and as I came over the horizon I proceeded to stop, when I depressed my brake pedal to slow down, the pedal went right to the floor. I almost ran into another vehicle and had I not thrown the car into low gear, and depressed my emergency brake, I am certain that we would have smashed into the school bus in front of us. My wife called aaa, and had the car towed to the local GMC dealer. It seems that the entire brake line system is rusted out, and that this was the first line to blow. They had the audacity to tell my wife that the repairs would start at $3,300. 00 and would not guaranty that it could not be more expensive than that!. We take good care of the truck, last year we had all the brakes done, new tires, and recently had a new head gasket installed, and the oil changed, so it is obvious that the dealer does not ever do a thorough vehicle inspection. We cannot afford the shell out the money for these repairs, and I am hopeful that there has been some kind of a recall for this, since I see so many complaints about the same subject? please help!.
Vehicle was taken to GMC dealer for headlight defect and we were informed that they would have to order parts. Drove truck back to site and while truck was running but stationary smoke was observed coming from the engine compartment. When the hood was raised the entire truck became engulfed and completely burned.
This is an old incident; however, until just recently, I did not realize there was a website such as yours. Also, I am reporting a specific incident, but also want to include other general information. The incident which occurred was related to my brake fluid lines rusting completely through while I was driving down the road with my two small grandchildren. When a vehicle stopped in front of me, I pushed on my brakes only to find I could not stop. Fortunately, there was a field on the right side of the road and I drove into it, rather than hitting the vehicle. When my husband checked the brakes, the lines literally fell apart. We still have this truck, but the entire underside of it (frame, spring hangers, front drive shaft, etc) are all rusted. Another issue that happened earlier this summer - the spare tire carrier had become so rusted, my spare tire actually came lose while driving down the road. Fortunately it was held up by a chain. Upon learning that this is a problem with most all gm trucks, I felt obligated to base my complaint in the hopes that something can be done. Toyota faced similar problems, but fortunately stood behind their products and made it right with their customers and I feel gm should be required to do likewise. We have tried to trade this truck in for another vehicle, but are being offered way below kelly blue book price because of the rust issue.
