3 Car Stall problem of the 2014 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

Vehicle hesitates and stalls upon acceleration. According to gm document id number 3685734 this is a normal condition and they have programmed the vehicle to do this. If going into traffic and trying to accelerate, the built in delay can cause close calls at best and worst case an accident. This coupled with the transmission issues mentioned in document id number 3575856 creates the perfect storm for injury and / or death. Gm refuses to address the issue other than to say they feel it is not a problem. This covers virtually all gm vehicles since 2007 with the 6 speed transmission.

5 Car Stall problem of the 2002 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 01/04/2009

Our 2002 Sierra 3500 GMC pickup truck is equipped with an 8. 1l v8 engine and the crankshaft position sensor causes the trucks engine to operate intermittently which in turn causes the engine to fail completely. When the engine operates intermittently, the message light illuminates reduced engine power and the vehicle runs rough and ultimately stalls. The engine may re-start immediately or after a period of time. Because this sensor has failed on the expressway at a high rate of speed (70 mph) on several occasions, we were very fortunate that we (or someone else) were not seriously injured. Because NHTSA recalled the 2001 GMC suvs/trucks that had this defective crankshaft position sensor and because there are numerous other 2002 suvs/trucks that are also having their engines fail due to this same defect, the NHTSA should immediately investigate having GMC recall the 2002 models as well. There are several complaints listed on nhtsas website that deal with this same issue (e. G. , complaint numbers 10038110, 10009727, 1009569, 10009556, 10001480, 10054217, 10069780, etc. ) that are identified under various 2002 GMC models (I. E. , Sierra, GMC truck, c series). Additionally, since consumers frequently purchase GMC trucks with the 8. 1l v8 engine to tow large trailers, this situation can create a serious hazard on the highways that NHTSA must address expeditiously. Thus, since we are a consumer that purchased our truck to tow a large trailer and our truck has stalled on the highway on numerous occasions, we had no choice but to replace the crankshaft position sensor out-of-pocket.

6 Car Stall problem of the 2002 GMC Sierra

The contact stated that they have replaced the fuel pump four times and replaced the sending unit twice within a year. The contact recently had vehicle at the dealer and they stated that they can't pinpoint the failure. On 03/01/07 while driving on the highway the vehicle completely shut off at highway speed between (50-65 mph). The contact was able to pulled to the side of the road wait ten minute and to restart the vehicle. 7 Car Stall problem of the 2003 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 12/01/2005

The contact complained about many defects with this vehicle. The speedometer continually had an inaccurate read out while driving. The dealership believed this failure could be related to the wiring harness. Since they were unable to duplicate the problem no repairs were done. Also, the vehicle stalled at various speeds without warning. While the stalling occurred the contact pressed hard on the brakes to elevate the stalling. He believed this was due to the power brakes. The vehicle stalled on occasion and would not immediately restart. The dealership made numerous attempts to correct this problem w and all attempts have been unsuccessful. This included replacing the fuel pump and electrical control module.

8 Car Stall problem of the 2005 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 06/09/2005

2005 GMC Sierra slt VIN #1gtek19b25z238042 I drove the truck 237 miles home and noticed it was not operating properly. I called GMC to resolve the problems. The truck has binding in the front axles, brakes, or differential. This causes the truck to understeer heavily as the truck works to turn the front wheels over the road surface. This also makes the truck difficult to steer, u turns are especially a problem, the truck has sluggish acceleration and stays longer in the lower gears. The rear tires are prone to lose traction due to the increased rolling resistance from the front wheels, braking performance is compromised, the truck will sway back and forth at highway speeds as the rolling resistance of the front wheels varies from side to side. The truck tends to pull to the left, and the suspension is always preloaded from the additional stress. The engine labors to maintain speed on level ground with the vehicle unloaded. On occasion the front wheels will hop off the pavement as it is easier for them to compress the suspension/torsion bars than be turned over the road. It is difficult to maintain a straight line with the truck since the front wheels tend to follow the contours of the road. The front wheel assemblies make a low frequency sound when driving. The transmission, engine, and drivetrain components are always loaded and driving on snow or ice would be treacherous since the front wheels would stop turning on the low friction surface. Driving in the rain is bad enough and the rear wheels tend to break loose. The transmission has behaved strangely, stuttering on occasion as it tried to find the proper gear, it has slipped or freewheeled as I went to accelerate from a stop. The wrong oil filter was installed, the air cleaner is loose and rattles in the engine compartment. The power steering provides little or no assist and requires more effort than I have ever experienced from a vehicle that is supposed to have power steering.

14 Car Stall problem of the 2001 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 04/05/2001

The safty defect is that the engine just quits at any speed. The same problem happened two times. Once at 3793 miles on April 5, 2001 and then again at 6340 miles on may 15, 2001. Both times the engine began to ping and then just stopped running. Both situations happened while on a major highway at highway speeds. I was lucky enough to be able to get to a shoulder lane on the highways. The safety problem is if the truck should stop at a location where road repairs are in progress and the shoulder lanes are blocked by cement barriers to not allow me to get off of the highway lanes with heavy truck traffic. This is not hypothetical, I drive hwy 35 between san antonio and dallas and the highway is allways under repair, the cement barriers are up and the heavy truck traffic is there. The disaster waiting to happen is the truck stalling at these locations.
