Installing a child restraint system on the passenger side of truck. If the airbag went off it would injure or kill the child. The vehicle is equipped to hook up a car seat. There is no device to turn off the airbag when a child is in their seat. Nobody mentioned this when purchasing this vehicle that you should not install a car seat. Went to michigan state police car seat expert and the sarge tells me she has tried to get them to install a switch. I have the federal form saying I assume all liability . There either needs a switch or say you should not install a car seat. Calling gm I was told to put the child seat in the back. I have only one seat no back seat. I asked if I should install it in the bed of the truck. There response was put car seat in the back seat. I would if I had one!. I am afraid to carry my granddaughter in my vehicle. The sargent confirmed not to place car seat in the middle because if the drivers airbag went off it would kill her. The manual say don't put the car seat in the middle. If placed on the passenger seat it would hurt her and possibly break both legs. Gm refuses to install a switch even at my expense. They say it is a liability. It seems to me they are liable if they don't. Need some help so more kids don't get hurt.

I have had to replace the tail light lenses several times because the tab that secures the lenses to the vehicle breaks and the result is lights just hanging on the truck by the electrical cords. I have the same problem involving my other vehicles in the past made by GMC namely a second family GMC sierra that was made in the year 2004, and a Chevrolet silverado. The electrical lighting on the dashboard has been malfunctioning for a long time. I noticed the malfunction during the first year I bought the truck. I have had to replace electrical switch in the air conditioning/heating the mechanic told me that the wiring is heating up and causing the short to the switch. The new switch has shorted out just like he said it would. I have a notification that my airbag needs servicing. There has been no accident involved to cause this issue. I bought this vehicle new and have been the primary driver since 2006 when I bought the vehicle.

The service airbag light came on and off. Took it to dealer to have tested. Trouble code p0084, driver seat position sensor. Diagnostic showed fault is in airbag sensing and diagnostic module, showed false high resistance reading. Sensor kit and module needed replaced, almost $600 just for parts. Took 2 times at the dealer to get this fixed as first replacement parts did not work. No coverage by GMC for failure of switch for airbag. Truck never in any type accident so airbag was never used. Surprised that there was no assistance from GMC concerning this safety issue as working airbags are required.
There is a crack in my truck's dashboard on the passenger side, right next to the airbag section. The dashboard cracked on its own,as it was never subjected to any kind of an impact or force. My reasonable doubt is that it cracked due to being made of low quality material. I took the truck to my local GMC dealership, same place where I always take my truck for anything concerning my truck. When I brought my truck and showed a service dept. Employee, I was told that neither my regular, nor my extended vehicle warranty covered the damage, and if I wanted it replaced I would need to pay ~$250!!! I was stunned and appalled that I would need to pay to replace something that was clearly a low quality product, something I already paid for when I bought the truck brand new. I will never go back to that dealership, or another GMC dealership as a matter of fact, ever again, just out of spite. I feel cheated and conned, as not only did the GMC not want to replace the dashboard,it was not even covered under the extended warranty I purchased when I got the vehicle brand new. I suspect GMC knew about this issue so they intentionally did not cover it under the vehicle warranty. My real concern isnt in the aesthetics of a cracked dashboard,it is for the safety of the passengers that drive in my truck. If,god forbid,I was to get into a car accident and the airbag deploys, there is a very real chance that the airbag might get punctured on the edge of the cracked dashboard and fail to do its function as it would immediately deflate. This is a serious safety hazard and one that might cost someone their life,do we really need to wait for something bad to happen (like the GMC issue with the ignition switch which cost people their lives after their GMC vehicle unexpectedly shut down in the middle of the highway!!) before something is done and GMC does the right thing and owns up to its mistake?.

The truck was purchased with 113,000 miles on it and no apparent problems when bought. After about 3 months of ownership, the "service airbag" message appeared intermittently for the next few weeks. After that time, the message was constant on. Took the truck to my local dealer who charged to "repair" it. Message came back after about a week of driving. Message now reappears at random intervals. Don't know if the problem is with the airbag sensors, the control unit, or any peripheral switches. Dealer is incompetent and do not trust to fix the problem. Already paid good money to have this problem repaired and am not going to continue to pay for incompetence. Message appears when vehicle is in motion and when vehicle is started at random. Message will sometimes disappear for weeks at a time, then, reappear at random.
