Takata airbags deployed after being on dirt trail and reentering onto main road. All 4 wheels maintained contact with road . There was no rolling of the vehicle in any direction. GMC is stating system acted properly as computer shows eminent rollover. The suspected cause is a malfunctioning yaw sensor. GMC since making decision will not return voicemail's (3) nor emails (4) there were myself and 2 other in vehicle at time of incident.

Front air bag impact sensors corroded and did not deploy air bag in accident.
The check airbag message was displayed when vehicle was in motion, took vehicle to mechanic where he diagnosed and replaced corroded front impact sensor. 2 years later and the same thing happened but now I had to replace both front airbag sensors. Vehicle currently has 106,000 miles.
Engine light service air bag-front end crash sensor diver side -replace front end crash sensor may 10th 2016 . July 7th 2016 engine light service air came on again going in for service July 8th again for same issue. Vehicle stationary in may 10th 2016 , moving July 7th 2016.
My 2008 GMC 1500 sierra "service air bag" light came on when I started my truck a few weeks ago. Finally was at the dealer, romeo GMC in kingston, NY. They ran diagnostics testing and advised me that my front air bag sensor sensor was bad and it cost me $469 to replace it! the service guy said 'they are in a bad place and get damaged from the weather etc and they just go like that!' really? that's ok for a safety design? also, how can this small sensor cost so much?? is it just dealership gouging parts prices? I am seeing online that I could have bought an after market product and replaced it myself- a 10mm bolt holds it on! was I just robbed? maybe I can return it ad drive without the air bag!.
Air bag sensor icon stays on showing a problem with the front passenger airbag. Don't know what that means other than the air bag is continually off no matter what you do, on the passenger side. Vehicle was not in a wreck or crash or fire. It just came on by itself a couple of months ago and can;t be made to go away and has stayed on constantly. My concern is the passenger seat is not covered by an air bag in case of a crash . Dealer said air bag sensor is not communicating with the computer. Sensor is $900. 00 to replace. There are many complaints about this same problem online with other GMC sierras pick ups and GMC vehicles. There is a problem here. Can you help?.

Several months ago, my airbag light came on and didn't extinguish. I took my 1998 GMC extd. Cab pickup to the dealer and they completed repairs ($755. 14, even at a discounted rate). The problem was the sir coil intermittently was grounding, causing a short in the sdm module. My airbag has never deployed and the truck has never been involved in an accident. Since airbags were mandated back in 1998, I would have hoped that I would never have had a problem with that system! seems to me this should be warranted for the life of the car, barring deployment from an accident.
