3 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

2014 GMC sierra currently with 45,000 miles. Vehicle spent 40+ days at dealership in 2016 for vibration while driving between 69-72 mph they could not fix during 6 different service visits. It was under 3 year/36k mile warranty at the time. Began at 22,000 miles. In Nov. 2017 vehicle began losing power steering at speeds under 3 mph, especially in reverse. Also service stabilitrak light has come on randomly at low speeds. Problem was intermittent but is now becoming an almost daily occurrance. Afraid this will lead to an accident. Several close calls already. Radio has also turned off on its on about 5 times in the last 60 days. It will not turn back on until vehicle is re-started. Related or unrelated, while driving at night and applying brake pedal I notice a 1/2 second dimming of headlights and dash lights before they return to normal brightness. Battery and alternator tested fine by dealership. Dealership says vehicle VIN is not subject to any recalls. Dealership wants me to replace power steering gear for $2,500 which they "think" might fix the problem. Don't want to spend $2,500 without certainty it is the problem.

4 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2011 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 04/16/2016

Something is wrong with the electrical system. All my door locks repeatedly lock and unlock, all my emergency checks and service light go on and off, my gauges all drop to zero, and most recently my vehicle has shut down while I'm driving it. But it happens randomly. Sometimes it's worse than others. I recently had to steer up onto a curb because I was driving and my gauges dropped to zero and my engine completely cut out. And that was after my airbags shut off and my lights and door locks flickered repeatedly. Maybe there's a short in a circuit or wire or maybe it's my alternator but services at a dealership are having a difficult time finding it. And al these things happen whether I'm driving or stationary. Rain or dry. Doesn't matter. But it's clearly unsafe. And I have no choice but to drive it because it's my only means for transportation.

5 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2004 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 07/04/2014

I have been having trouble starting my 2004 GMC, sometime when I turned the key it would do nothing, I had it towed in and spent over $500 to repair it, alternator, battery etc, and it did not fix the problem. When I got it back, and it did it again, I found that if I moved the steering wheel up and down with the lever, it would then start. Yesterday I went out to start my truck in my driveway, and the key will not turn in the ignition. It feels like the ignition came apart or something inside. The steering wheel is not locked. It is ridiculous that I will have to pay to have this vehicle towed in again and pay to repair the ignition, when gm has been having huge problems with ignitions! I have had other problems with this vehicle to include a fire under the dash. My insurance covered it because a fuse melted and did not do it's job, however now my speedometer does not work, and they want me to pay for a new wiring harness which I will not do. I use my gps to track my speed! the rear transfer case went on it, and I spent $1,800 to have a new one installed. There have been other small things, but those are the major problems I have had over the years. I am like every other average person. I had no idea how to get gm to fix them, so I just paid myself! when I was researching how to replace the ignition, I came across your site. I have no idea what I can do about this or how to go about it. I need my truck as soon as possible, so I will probably get stuck paying again! thank you.
