1 Brake Sensor problem of the 2017 GMC Sierra 2500

Failure Date: 02/11/2017

My 2017 GMC 2500 sierra denali duramax has had this throttle issue, it seems to only do it when the exhaust stinks, and at speeds between 5 - 55 mph. If I take my foot off the accelerator the truck maintains rpm (1200 - 1400) or even has increased some and has lasted 2 - 5 seconds (estimated and greatly reduces the effectiveness of the braking capacity and responsiveness/stopping distance). Worst was with a huge trailer behind and I got up to speed 55 on county hwy 8, and I let off the accelerator and it kept going hard and I got on the brakes and I couldn't slow it down until the truck decided to release off the throttle. (two witnesses in the vehicle, one a gm tech, stating your vehicle is not safe and needs to be looked at) it's happened about 25 times in 5700 miles in various settings & speeds and has occurred frequently in town at speeds of 25 - 35 mph. There maybe several hundred miles in between episodes if you will, as they occur in clusters when exhaust stinks and gone when exhaust does not stink. Truck also had torque converter not unlock and damn near choked the engine off at stop sign right after a throttle stuck condition. Got home the other night and fuel gauge stopped working! back up camera is daylight bright at night, low coolant issues, map sensor issue, engine surged the other day, what next? it's constantly been at dealerships with no answers. My wife won't drive it anymore and wishes I wouldn't either fearing it will cause an accident and she's probably right. Gm has stated they are aware of the problem but will not provide any trade in assistance dollars to get it off the road and there is no fix. $70,000+ truck, lives at risk and no serious response from gm?.

2 Brake Sensor problem of the 2003 GMC Sierra 2500

Failure Date: 08/21/2011

Many components under the truck are severely rusted. Two brake lines failed in August 2011 due to rust. The rest are ready to fail soon. The power steering line rusted out this month (December). Rust at sensors of abs system causes erratic abs operation.

3 Brake Sensor problem of the 2005 GMC Sierra 2500

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

2005 GMC sierra k2500 pickup truck. Problem - brakes fade when coming to a complete stop. Brakes work fine until vehicle slows to 5-10mph at which time brake pedal loses pressure - unexpectedly increases stopping distance by 10-15 feet creating hazardous condition. Attempted resolution - replaced all four brake rotors and pads at own expense. Problem still exists. Went to dealerand discovered that this is apparently a common problem related to the anti-lock brake sensors located in each wheel assembly. They claim this braking system failure is due to normal wear and tear and not a manufacturers defect or faulty design. . . My problem is this - if the dealer (and, by extension, the manufacturer) knows that the brake system is going to start failing after a few years of operation, then how is this due to normal wear and tear and not a design defect??? this is clearly an example of a manufacturer putting out a product that they know will fail in time and, thus, create a hazardous safety condition.

4 Brake Sensor problem of the 2001 GMC Sierra 2500

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

The contact owns a 2001 GMC Sierra 2500. While traveling 4 to 10 mph the contact applied the brakes and noticed that the vehicle would vibrate and the stopping distance had increased. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the anti lock brake sensor was replaced; however, the failure continued to occur. There were no prior warnings. The failure mileage was 106000 and the current mileage was 107000.

5 Brake Sensor problem of the 2005 GMC Sierra 2500

Failure Date: 03/01/2009

2005 GMC 2500hd abs slow stopping problems due to probably sensor corrosion, same as what was described and supposed to be corrected in earlier year models. Live in maine heavy road salting started about a year ago and has gotten progressivly worse.

6 Brake Sensor problem of the 2002 GMC Sierra 2500

Failure Date: 02/15/2007

The contact owns a 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 hd. The contact felt the vehicle's brakes pulsate. He took the vehicle to the dealer who discovered that the rotors were corroded, the front wheel hubs were filled with water, the abs sensors were corroded, and the entire braking system needed to be replaced. The current and failure mileages were 34,000.

7 Brake Sensor problem of the 2006 GMC Sierra 2500

Failure Date: 05/05/2006

Brakes fade near the end of a braking cycle. No warning lights displayed even though brake pedal felt like it had increased travel or mushiness. Cause; excessive and premature corrosion and pitting of all four original equipment brake rotors. Also, excessive corrosion of brake sensors and brake calipers necessitates an extensive repair. Original brake pads are in good condition repairs needed; replacement of rotors, sensor, calipers and brake pads. Bolts seized by corrosion broke on removal of brake components and this resulted in replacement of sensor and all calipers. The cost of the repair was $2100. 00. My opinion; poor quality metals in original factory rotors caused a significant brake failure on this vehicle which caused braking safety issues and an expensive repair. This is a safety issue because; poor braking occurs and the high cost of repair will mean some owners of this vehicle will put off repairs and continue operating this vehicle with damaged brake systems. I think this vehicle should be recalled because this is a safety issue and the manufacturer should take at least some responsibility to repair this model. The 2500 (3/4 ton) series that I own is mostly used by contractors and others who pull or haul heavy loads. So, the brakes really do need to work.
