The contact owns a 2002 GMC Yukon which was purchased brand new in 2002. He stated that the anti-lock braking system was activating inappropriately at low speeds of 8 mph and under. The failure would cause the pedal to pulse and would not stop in a normal fashion. The vehicle would brake on and off and caused him to feel as if he was losing control of the vehicle. Although there was a recall campaign regarding the same failure (NHTSA campaign id number: 05v379000) his VIN was not included in the recall. 2 Brake Electric Antilock problem

The contact owns a 2002 GMC Yukon xl denali. The contact stated while driving at 25 mph and slowing down to make a stop the abs begins to activate without warning causing the vehicle to drag to a complete stop. The contact is in the process of taking the vehicle to the dealer for further inspection. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that because there are no current recalls on the vehicle and the warranty being expired, no compensation would be offered but he was advised to have the vehicle inspected by a dealer. The failure mileage was 121,700 and the current mileage is 124,391.

There is a recall (05v379000) and I bought my vehicle in to be taken care of in 2007, now the same thing is happening two years later and they wont cover it. I have contacted GMC to see what they can do for me.

The contact owns a 2002 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated when driving at approximately 3-10 mph and applying the brakes, the anti-lock braking system (abs) would engage. The dealer advised although there was a recall for the failure (NHTSA campaign id 05v379000: service brakes, hydraulic: antilock), his VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

The contact owns a 2002 GMC Yukon. While driving 15 mph, the abs activates and prevents the vehicle from coming to a complete stop when needed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer, but the contact called them and was informed that they were not responsible for the defect. He has done much research and found several recalls with the same failure as his vehicle. The vehicle has not yet been repaired. The failure mileage was 79,000 and current mileage was 80,000. After two previous "repairs" (one a recall), our GMC abs brakes are now malfunctioning for the third time. The abs brake system activates on dry pavement at slow speeds, resulting in a longer than normal stopping distance. On numerous occasions, collisions have narrowly been avoided as the abs brake pedal "chattering" prevents normal braking at crucial times.

: the contact stated after having the recall #05v379000 regarding the abs performed on the vehicle the brakes began to pulsate at speeds below 10 mph. The vehicle worked properly before the repairs. 12 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2006

Consumer's vehicle followed a school bus, no children were on the bus. Around 7:50 am the bus stopped for red light. Speed was approximately 20-25 mph. As the brake pedal was pushed down the vehicle began to slow down, but it did not slow as quickly as normal. The abs engaged, but the vehicle continued to proceed forward. There was plenty of room and time that the vehicle should have stopped but it did not. The vehicle bumped the rear of the bus, pushing in the bumper of vehicle. This incident followed the pattern set forth in NHTSA recall 05v379000 on August 29 2005. However, on November 18, 2005 the local dealer performed the procedure that GMC recommended to correct this problem, but I feel that the vehicle still failed in this incident.

: the contact stated the abs pump stays on after shutting the vehicle off. There is a NHTSA recall, # 05v379000, regarding the abs. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. The vehicle was taken to the dealership.

I own a 2002 Yukon denali, and my abs kicks in at low speeds. There is already a recall for this issue but my VIN(1gkek63u72j311928) excludes me to obtain this recall. I own a 2002 Yukon denali, I live in the "salt belt" states (new jersey), I am experiancing unwanted abs activation at low speeds, my VIN does not match the SUV's mentioned for this recall. I meet all quailifations for this recall except one (my VIN). So my SUV is not covered.

2002 GMC Yukon brakes pulsate during normal and slow speed stops. Vehicle makes a crunching or clunking noise and brake pedal goes to far down toward the floorboard. When the consumer took the vehicle to a repair shop, the consumer was told the rotors were corroded. The consumer was told his vehicle was not included in the recall, because his vehicle was purchased in georgia.

Consumer complaint regarding 2002 GMC not being included in recall. The vehicle would skid and grind when the brake pedal was applied. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer to be serviced for recall 05v379000. The dealer informed the consumer that his vehicle was not included in the recall therefore they would not repair it. The same day the vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where they replaced the left front unitized bearing and front wheel drive hub assembly.

Abs problem on a 2002 GMC Yukon xl. Low speed abs coming on every time brake pedal is used under 15 mph. GMC recalled problem but only in eastern states, I live in utah which is not covered in recall.

Dt the abs engaged although the vehicle was not on a slippery road. The consumer had the brakes checked and was told that everything was fine. On another occasion while driving slowly out of his driveway the brakes did not engage when applied. The vehicle was taken tot he dealer who agreed to repair the brakes but at the consumer's expense.

Intermittently while driving at very slow speed. And applying the brakes pedal went to the floor, and there were no brakes. This resulted in extended stopping distance.

Anit-lock brake modules on the 2002 and 2003 GMC Yukon burn out and get stuck, and won't operate. The anti-lock brake will come on with engine off, and only way to stop is to disassemble the brakes. It almost caused a fire, but consumer caught it in time.
