1 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2013

I was exiting the freeway and started to brake and then the pedal went to the floor. I had the stand on it to slow down enough to keep from hitting the car in front of me. Upon examination of the vehicle I found a ruptured brake line. Further review found all 4 lines 8 inches below the master cylinder and lower seriously corroded. Fluid reservoir was still full of fluid. The line broke out under the carriage, front driver side, just behind the front wheel well. Pictures are available of the corroded lines.

2 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2013

On several occasions when appying brakes to stop the Yukon it fails to stop and then abs kicks in causing brake pedal to vibrate and loss of pressure in brake pedal then truck does not stop it slides. I have replaced master cylinder did not help, truck needs all new brake lines due to rust. I have quickly move around cars to prevent a accident, due to this brake failure. Since I am in south florida gm won't fix this known manufacture defect because sf is not a "salt belt" state, but I live on the beach and the salt water has started to have a major impact just like the northern states on these faulty brake lines. The break lines are covered in rust and this is a major safety concern and gm should fix all vehicles with this known defect not just some. This 2002 Yukon is sle with a 5. 3l VIN z.

3 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2010

We purchased the 2002 Yukon from mcguire dealership in NJ its been cared for taken to the dealership faithfully driven by my 50 year old father, when first driving he noticed the pedal vibrating rapidly during normal brake applications. The abs control valve was the culprit along with a rusty wheel sensor. It was replaced at the dealer and after 5 years the frame of the truck is rusting and rotting along with suspension parts and most of all the brakes. We came close to crashing one day when the pedal went straight to the floor, we take it to the local firestone and they tell us all the brake lines are rusted out along with the master cylinder. We replaced the lines and master cylinder with a hefty price tag. We get the car back 3 days later pedal goes to the floor again, back at the mechanic both rear calipers are rusted and leaking. We replaced all 4 calipers and the problem stopped but now the frame is rusting and the abs is still vibrating badly. Long story short gm needs to be held accountable for selling such cheap crappy trucks, we came close a few times to crashing, and I feel sorry for the people that have lost their lives due to the neglegence of the employees of gm.

4 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2003

I have a 2002 GMC Yukon xl. I bought the vehicle brand new in June of 2002. At 376 miles my brake system locked up. I have continued to have this problem ever since. As your driving the brakes apply and you loose control of your steering. This problem does not occur all the time, but does happen. They have replaced my master cylinder, power booster, and all 4 rotors. This problem is still not fixed and because the dealership can not get it to duplicate the problem while they are driving it, they say there is nothing else they can do. I am filing this complaint because I fear for my safety. The last time it happened on 9/11/03 it was towed to the nearest dealership, they have informed me there is nothing they can do. I have left the vehicle there because I fear driving it. Last thing I heard was they were shipping it to the dealership where I bought it because it was there problem. Please if you know anything I can do please let me know. I would like to add that there has been evidence of defect because the rotors have shown damage due to defect.

5 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2002

The brake line (a metal rod, not hose) broke off, on an ice mountain road on December 23, 2002. The car was brand new with 9800 miles on it and there my three children ages 3, 3, and 5 were in the car. We were towed down the mountain for 60 miles. General motors fixed the brake line and took over two months to get back to me with a $55. 00 reimbursement for the car rental. This could have been catastrophic for my family. The car could not stop at all.
