As vehicle comes to a slow stop the brakes feel as if the release and still roll also when pulling into a driveway or parking spot this has happed often.
Brakes went. Bought a CT car in SC. Luckily driving 5pmh when they went. Waiting at the shop now to get fixed. Spent the night in my car as I was moving to CT.
This vehicle has had a long history of needed brake work. Brakes were recently changed again and it still has soft braking as well as pulsating braking. Both of these factors lead to dangerously slow stopping even with practically new parts.
The contact owns a 2002 GMC Yukon. While driving 5 mph, the abs engaged without warning when the brake pedal was depressed. The issue made it difficult to stop the vehicle for at least five car lengths. The brake pedal became stiff and the vehicle was difficult to maneuver. The vehicle came to a stop only after the brake pedal was depressed several times. The hydraulic pump malfunctioned and caused the contact to have a difficult time parallel parking without the vehicle rolling away. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

I was driving to the local supermarket and applied my brakes. Suddenly they went all the way to the floor. I could not stop and had to swerve out of the way of a vehicle in front of me to avoid a collision. I eventually stopped by applying the emergency brake.

When braking at a slow rate of speed it feels like my abs is trying to engage. Pulsations in brake pedal and slow to stop. This occurs in any type of weather. I read that there was a recall for this exact problem. When I contacted the recall help line I was told that my vehicle VIN was not included. Odd. All the symptoms are there and it started right at the time my vehicle turn 65,000 miles. Someone please help me. I'm afraid to drive my vehicle and I have called around to GMC dealers and they will not attempt to assist me with this matter.
Tl- the contact owns a 2002 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph and when pressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle the abs would erroneously activate causing the braking distance to be extended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 107,000. Jft.
While turning into a mall parking lot from a main street, applied breaks to slow down into the parking lot for a vehicle to pass in front of me. Without any prior warning the break peddle went to the floor and I was unable to stop even from a slow speed. Luckly I was able to drive around the vehicle in front of me because the breaks seemed to fail about 95%. I pumped the breaks a few time and got into the closest parking space. The vehicle was not safe to drive do to sudden break failure. The repair garage certified mechanic said the break line had rusted thru and the break fluid was rapidly leaking. I had the garage replace all the entire rusted break lines ($646. 00) to be able to drive safely and avoid another sudden break failure due to rusted break lines. Otherwise the car has been well taken care for and in excellent running condition. My mechanic said they had repaired several GMC vehicles with this identical problem. I believe GMC has sold a car with defective safety parts which have worn prematurely.
During low speed the abs kicks in on no slip conditions causing it to take longer to stop the vehicle. This started occurring in June 2014. I see a recall on 2002 Yukon xl vehicles for this problem but it does not show up on the VIN report.
I tried to stop and when I applied the brakes the abs activated without any reason. The roads were clean and dry. There was not any warning indicator for the abs brakes, I am told there is a recall for this issue but the dealer says mine was already done. Obviously the fix was not effective if I am experiencing the problem now.
The contact owns a 2002 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 mph, the brakes were depressed and the vehicle failed to slow down until the brake pedal was applied repeatedly. The contact stated that prior to the failure while shifting from park into reverse, the pedal traveled to the floorboard upon engagement. The technician informed the contact that the entire brake and fuel lines were severely corroded. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
While pulling out of driveway, I pushed brake before entering street - pushed all the way down, but had no brake action. Was braking fine day before.
Tl - the contact owns a 2002 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated that while braking, the abs system would engage and cause the brakes to lock up. The contact stated that this occurs at low speeds and could cause a crash. The contact has not taken the vehicle to a dealer or local mechanic. The contact stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The failure mileage was 167,000. Tlb.
The brakes on my 2002 GMC Yukon xl seem to fail at low speed. You press on the brake pedal and it goes to the floor and does not stop. We have had the speed senor replaced, recalled part replaced in 2005. The description sounds exactly like what is happening with my truck. GMC says it will not replace this part for free, since it has been replaced once before. This part is a very serious safety part, I feel GMC should replace it. Safety first.
After three previous "repairs" including one recall, our 2002 GMC Yukon xl abs brakes are malfunctioning for the fourth time, exhibiting the exact same condition that was the subject of a 2005 recall. The abs brake system activates on dry pavement when brakes are applied at low speeds, resulting in a longer than normal stopping distance. On several occasions collisions have narrowly been avoided as the abs brake pedal "chattering" interferes with normal braking at crucial times.
There is a recall (05v379000) and I bought my vehicle in to be taken care of in 2007, now the same thing is happening two years later and they wont cover it. I have contacted GMC to see what they can do for me.
A major failure of the abs system on my GMC Yukon 2002, I have contacted gm but they denied any previous issues with this. I found a NHTSA campaign #05v379000 in relation with this. Please advise.
This involves the emergency brake that will not hold the vehicle when applied. I had noticed that the emergency brake did not do a very good job holding the vehicle when applied from the time it was new but had not given it much thought since I never used it. Several years later I tried to get it inspected and it failed. I found that the rear emergency brake that ii never use were had worn out shoes and had damaged the drum. I replaced the shoes and one drum and was able to get the brakes to hold when the brake were applied. The brake has been applied properly sense then but started to do the same thing again by not holding the vehicle. I had to replace the shoes again at 172,000 miles. This seems to be a problem with this vehicle that general motors will not address.
2002 Yukon had very reduced braking under normal speeds and road conditions. The brake pedal was pushed nearly to the floor with only about 30% of normal brake capacity. As if the front brakes were not helping. The big issue is that the recall service by gm recall # 05068 has been performed on this truck less than 6 months ago on 8-23-2006. The recall procedure does not correct the defect. Someone is going to get killed by this problem that gm is not correctly addressing.
The contact owns a 2002 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that his vehicle was repaired according to NHTSA campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:anti lock). One month later, he noticed increased stopping distances during low-speed brake applications. In addition, the abs activates unexpectedly. The vehicle has not been repaired properly. The failure mileage was 32,582 and current mileage was 44,000.
The brakes on my car are not working properly. It is happening more and more every day. I almost ran into my garage. When I am pulling up. About to make a stop. The brakes go out.
Consumer requesting reimbursement for repair of excessive corrosion of braking system, front and rear on GMC 2002 Yukon. ** answer required*** the a/c compressor was noisy on startup. Sop compressor had internal piston failure in compressor. . The sunroof would not close all the way. The dealer had to install a new sunroof frame.
Have had problems with brakes. They do not stop properly, you never know when they are going to work or not. My wife has on different occasions on the freeway applied the brakes quickly and the pedal went down to the floor, thank god there was an emergency lane where she swerved out to. It has also happened to me. We are told that you do not pump the brakes on an abs braking system, well my wife came home and told me by pumping the pedal the brakes seem to stop a little better. Now what do you think that is telling you??? I have been in the automotive business for over 40 years, and have never had a problem like this. They have yet to fix the problem because they say there is nothing wrong, and since the vehicle did not come in on a hook and or was not in a accident they would not do anything. We have been complaining about the brakes since we purchased the vehicle. At this point I will never purchase another GMC again, and I am letting everyone know this. Hope you can help or have some suggestions. Thank you for your time in this matter. Manny.
While driving 10 mph, the driver applied the brake pedal and it went to the floor. The brakes did not work. The mechanic could not duplicate the problem. There would be a howling noise as if something was wrong with the power booster and the brake pedal would vibrate. The problem only occurred around 10 mph.
