2 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2013 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/13/2020

I was driving on the interstate about 70mph and the car started sputtering and traction control lights came on and I thought the car was going to stall and cause an accident. I was able to pull off on to the shoulder and look under the hood. I thought it was a bad sparkplug or something. I hooked up a obd reader and got code p0306. Got it towed to firestone and they did diagnostics. They said it was a failed lifter, a known problem with gm vehicles. The ticking noise that it was making was from the failed lifter. I am hoping the camshaft is not damaged either.

3 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/26/2020

I purchased by vehicle in the summer of 2015. It has been in the shop numerous times for various issues, mostly electrical involving the computer and software, or issues involving my tires or steering when turning the steering wheel. . My "driver assist" has malfunctioned many times and I have taken it to the shop to have it repaired on 3 separate occasions. Last summer my front and rear lights started flickering and stopped working. I spent $800 for the back passenger brake light and almost $1000 for the front driver head light assembly. I also had to get a new battery for this vehicle. My 2015 GMC Yukon xl is now malfunctioning again and this time, I am told that the seat motor (that alerts you when you are near an obstacle has burned out. ) about 4 days ago, I became aware of ticking noise while my car has been idle. I immediately scheduled a maintenance appointment. Today, I am also informed that my "lifters" are bad on the vehicle and my engine is going bad. I am told the air conditioning condenser has burned out, I am told the motor under my seat is burned out. I have performed routine maintenance, I get oil changes regularly and use high quality synthetic oils. I take my car to the shop at least 2x per year for problems and some major repair is always required. This is a car that I am going into the 5th year of ownership this summer. Originally. I was told that there was a recall for brakes, now I am told there is not, but I have taken my car in for various recalls at least 3x. This is an unsafe, defective vehicle. Every system fails. I am now in search of a new vehicle. I have driven other gm vehicles (grand am, hummer) and none have required so much repair costs. Today I am told that it will cost $6800 to repair my vehicle to make it safe. My repair records will show the repairs and service charges I have paid since purchase. This is a lemon.

Failure Date: 11/06/2019

Lifter failure. Hoping no camshaft damage. 3 weeks waiting on parts that apparently can't be found. Was driving approx 35 mph when horrible ticking noise occurred. Quickly assessed nothing in wheel well. Noise coming from engine. Limped car directly to mechanic as feared more damage or complete engine failure if driven more miles. Since become aware of issues with this engine and that changes were made in 2014. Less than 90k miles on the car.

Driving down the road and had loss of power and traction control was turning on and off. Motor started with a loud ticking sound. Stopped vehicle to check under hood checked oil level good, oil pressure fine, temp fine, shut unit off and restarted. Called triple a for a tow. After further investigation found number 7 cylinder collapsed ordered parts and replaced. Pulled rest of lifters on driver side and checked for wear and replaced to service. Ran vehicle for 10 minutes and started with a failed lifter on cylinder #1. This motor was redone by GMC do to heavy oil consumption 25000 miles ago. You seriously need to look into how many afm lifter failures there have been. The GMC shop I got my parts at have a crew thats all they do is replace lifters.

8 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

Our vehicle has a significant vibration in v4 mode when traveling between 45-65 mph and above. The vibration is also accompanied by increased cabin pressure. These issues are causing headaches, nausea, dizziness, and are further exacerbating my wife's multiple sclerosis. We also have a popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle's suspension when turning that makes us feel unsafe. The vibration started right after we took delivery of the car and has only gotten worse. We bought the car in April 2015 and the issue continues unfixed to this day. The popping noise started about 3-4 weeks ago and it sounds like a suspension component. Our ac recirculating feature also does not work and it allows harmful exhaust smoke in.

9 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 04/02/2015

I have a 2015 Yukon denali and I was driving 65 on the highway and the engine shut down completely. A warning message said engine power failure. I had 4 cars and an 18 wheeler behind me at the time. I managed to put the vehicle in neutral and coast to the side of the road onto a median. It was towed to the dealership where they started trying say it might have been bad gas. Then I was told I cracked valve and they already had one other just like this, then 1 day later after a tech level 2 and a shop forum looked at it, and a conversation with a gm pac rep, gm approved a complete engine replacement! I was shocked. I've had the same 4-wheel drive issues everyone else has. I've also had a/c problems, steer wheel popping noises, sunroof loud wind noises. My seat shifts when I drive it. The a/c seats don't cool properly, which I found out when they put me in a loaner Yukon that worked fine. The speedometer gauge also didn't work for 2 days, which I have a picture of and received a warning ticket for when I was pulled over by an officer not knowing what speed I was going. I passenger step guard doesn't always retract properly. My unit was purchase may 2014 and was one of the first 4 x 4 units that was produced and has had constant problems. Gm keeps denying a buyback, then no trade assistance, then now has offered an extended warranty. This particular vehicle I have is not safe for my family to be riding in. I can't trade it in or sell it to anyone else knowing the problems it has. The dealer won't even take it because they know the problem that they are dealing with.

10 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 12/18/2013

Started the motor in the morning noticed a light ticking noise come from the motor. Sounds like the lifters are tapping. The noise use to only be in the morning but now it is constant. Took it to a repair shop for a diagnosis was informed that the lifters are going bad!!!!! was told it was going to cost around 3000. 00 to fix the problem. After doing some research on the internet I could not believe how many other gm owners were having the same problem. Please investigate this problem and have a recall placed on these motors I think it is unfair that we have to pay out so much money to own a nice car just to have it turn into a big pile. My low millage car sounds like it has 200000 miles on it.

11 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2003 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/15/2006

Engine ticking on startup, lasts for 5 minutes currently - longer on cold starts or after letting the car sit overnight. Progressively has gotten louder and longer in duration since reporting the failure last year to the dealership. This piston "slap" noise described appears to be manufacturer defect in 5. 3 liter engine where shipment of engines with cylinder heads that are oversized or pistons shipping as undersized is causing warping on piston head, hence the reason why the noise progressivly gets louder and longer lasting as time progresses. Original dealership has documented the report of the noise with no result or attempt to fix. Customer has purchased extended warranty prior to the evidence of this failure, at time of purchase. Several dealerships have directed customer to file a direct complaint with manufacturer as engine has been diagnosed that prolonged wear with the "slap" that is causing the ticking noise will cause serious damage to engine over time. Only suggested recourse is to replace engine with 5. 3 that shipped after September 2002 and was not manufactured from one of three gm plants responsible for the manufacture of the defective engines.

A month after the vehicle was purchased the consumer started to noticed noises coming from the front end. The vehicle was taken to service dealer who determined that the upper and lower control arms needed to be replaced. After repairs of the control arm the vehicle started to vibrate. The seat is still broken. The dealer also replaced the steering wheel which is now making noise. The dealer said that the steering box needed to be replaced but that the replacement is noisier than the original. The dash has begun to peel.
