3 Car Stall problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 02/17/2020

I purchased my vehicle October 31'st 2019 from a local dealership. The milage was about 74k miles. I have only had this vehicle for a few months. My concern is the following. While driving, at least 7 to ten times the vehicle completely stalls. In other words it completely stops. The steering wheel locks. All power is lost. No lights no nothing. This has happened at intersections, it has happened when turning left, it has happened when turning right. It happens when we are yielding. Sometimes the dash starts to flicker and also the console. Sometimes like today without any warnings. This is puts me and my family in a very dangerous situation. Please respond ASAP. I currently have 86k miles on my vehicle.

4 Car Stall problem of the 2019 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/13/2019

Unintended surge of acceleration. Will happen randomly about once a week when under slight acceleration. It feels like the accelerator goes full throttle for one second, causing a huge surge of acceleration, almost plowing into the car in front of us multiple times. The last time it happened while in reverse. Dealer examined the car and said there are no codes stored in the computer and couldn't replicate the problem. We get the car back tomorrow and my file drives it with our 4 kids, so this is vary scary (for the safety of our family and others on the road). Dealer suggested if we don't trust the car, we can have cameras installed in the car to capture the problem so we can show them. We have very low confidence in this car as it is dangerous to drive. The fist time we noticed this was in the am, so the engine was still cold. Started accelerating slightly down our residential street and the car went to full throttle on it's own for about 1-2 seconds (rpms sky rocketed). The second time was about a week later when my wife was driving the kids to school in the morning (again with a cold engine). She pulled out of an intersection and the heavy SUV went to full throttle on its' own again, almost causing her to lose control. The problem presents itself about once or twice a week. The last time she was backing out in reverse when this occurred, causing her to almost crash into something. Dealer can't find the problem but the problem exists. The only thing in common between all occurrence is that the engine was cold, the ac was on, and that we were under light acceleration when the symptom presented itself.

5 Car Stall problem of the 2011 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/12/2019

One week after purchasing the vehicle I broke down due to an oil pressure sensor. Two weeks after that I broke down (stalled out in the road) due to 2 lifters collapsing and the camshaft being damaged. After replacing all lifters, the camshaft, spark plugs and wires, as well as another oil pressure sensor just in case the other one was bad I still have low oil pressure. This cost $3,000. 00! I left the shop and broke down on my way home with a flashing engine light and the stabilitrak light and message flashing. It shook so hard I thought it would explode in the road and then stalled out! it was towed back to the shop where it continues to sit. Its been there 3 weeks. Its been at the shop longer than I've gotten to drive it. After googling what might be causing the problem it appears this is not uncommon and GMC/Chevrolet is well aware of the faulty engine. Thousands of posts are on different sites complaining how even though they have put their vehicle in the shop and had the repairs done, there is something in the engine that causing the issues again! the manufacturer is well aware they are putting lives at risk repeatedly and causing financial hardships for the consumer but it is obvious they are concerned only about their bottom line and not lives.

12 Car Stall problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/19/2017

Persistent "ticking" lifter upon start of a cold engine. Slight loss of power until the engine finally warms and the ticking subsides. This problem occurs in both warm and cold weather but is worse during cold weather. When I asked the local gm dealer about a solution, they described a potential repair; a baffle may be installed in the oil pan to correct the problem of oil draining out of the top side of the motor. This indicates to me that gm has recognized a design flaw in this motor (the 5. 3l with active fuel management and "flexfuel" option) though the did not offer to perform the repair for no cost.

Failure Date: 08/19/2016

Bought SUV 6/25/2016 the same weekend the engine turns off after a left or right turn :it has happened 3 times so far. 4 week old 2016 Yukon denali xl, has stalled 3 times in last 4 weeks, engine cuts off after a left or a right turn only after a short drive out of home. The SUV has to be restarted! could have easily had an accident or worse. I took it to the westpoint GMC dealer, 3 times. 1st two times, all of service deptartment could not diagnose the problem. Today, after a stall, I called onstar, who ran a diagnostics test, but onstar found nothing of value , I left it at dealership and contacted district mgr. Matt tillson . I was told that they would escalate the issue. I did tell dealer that GMC and dealership would be at fault if vehicle is involved in an accident and stalls nor stops while I am driving. I did not want the vehicle back without the problem having been fixed. Its day 6 today. I need to make it absolutely clear, I will not take the vehicle back untill the problem has been diagnosed, and fixed. I do not want me or my family or gm service employee injured, or worse, or to be involved with a possible accident in my GMC Yukon denali xl. A field service engineer should have been on this case already ! will it take an accident, or injury before someone gets assigned?.

20 Car Stall problem of the 2006 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/10/2015

When taking off from a stop or at a slow speed the car stalls like its running out of gas, when that happens on the diagnostic center on the car reads "traction active", and then car behind me blows their horn telling me to move, then the car takes off. Its really scary when I'm in the middle of traffic in the intersection or trying to make a left turn and trying to go and it stalls. Sooner or later someone is going to run into the back of me or when I'm in the intersection I will be t-bone and someone is going to get killed or seriously injured. I took it to the gm repair center at art moran 9/10/2015 and they tell me there's nothing wrong. The service advisor reggie garrett ask if their was a certain time it would act like this and I told him it seems like when its hot outside is when I notice it. Then, the very next morning about a half mile into the drive it did the same thing. So I called reggie up and told him it doesn't make a difference if its hot outside or cool it does the same thing, and this is all while I'm on my way over to their repair shop it did this 7 time all at dead stops or slow speeds. Once I made it to the shop I ask reggie to get his tech. To drive it with his scanner plugged in, but he suggested I drive it but when it did it the scanner didn't record it. I going back there this week and on the way I'm going to record it on camera in an effort to document what going on.

21 Car Stall problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 06/25/2015

Our 2015 Yukon xl denali has been in for repair service for 41 days since purchased new 3/23/15. The car has stalled while in motion with my wife and three daughters in the vehicle twice and been unresponsive to throttle input 3 additional times. The stall occurred once while turning left across traffic and another time while turning right and merging with traffic! the problem is intermittent and GMC has never been able to replicate it. They have given us the shoulder shrug, "I don't know what to tell you, we can't replicate it" line, so here are your keys. No warning indicators, no signs it may happen, and no way to pull up the issue with their diagnostics. . . Huge safety concern and each time they have handed us the keys back after 7 days (their standard allotted time to have a loaner out) without any proactive escalation to find root cause or concern for my family's safety. The last time we took it in, they had it for 8 days and could not replicate the issue. We signed our service paperwork and I escalated to the service manager before leaving. After telling him we would be pursuing buyback, he miraculously had an idea it may be related to a wiring harness issue. This was based off his experience with a sierra pickup (5. 3l, not our 6. 2l) that had similar behavior. We left the vehicle and, wouldn't you know it, they replaced a wire and "have reasonable confidence" it resolved the issue. Two weeks later, it's back in the shop for key fob not detected (after already driving). Truck is in gear and you cannot move. . . Another huge safety concern. It's a dud. We have also had to have all 8 injectors replaced due to rough idling and the steering gear replaced from faulty manufacturing that creates a clicking while turning the wheel, the car is at the dealer and we will not be taking it back. We are going through the offical buy-back process with GMC.

Electronic stability control activates randomly. While accelerating from a complete stop the vehicle goes into traction control or reduced engine power. Stalling in the middle of intersections or at stop lights car behind expects you to move and you cant. You have to either turn car off and back on or put in netural to try and get your car to go this is a very dangerous problem that leaves you feeling helpless and no control of your vechical I pray that this is looked into before someone gets hurt I also reported this to GMC.

28 Car Stall problem of the 2006 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/30/2013

In December 2010 the camshaft in the 5. 3l gm engine reportedly delaminated causing one or more lifters to gall and fail requiring a new engine. I purchased a factory 5. 3l engine from a gm dealer and had that installed by a certified mechanic with the assurance of a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty. 28 August my wife told me the engine was noisy. On starting the engine it was obvious that oil was not pumping through the lifters. I took the truck to the dealer on the 29th for diagnosis. On 30 August they concluded that the engine needed to be replaced. Subsequent investigation confirmed that the engine was shipped with faulty castech heads that caused coolant to seep into the oil. The engine was replaced under warranty. I would like, if it is the job of the NHTSA, to have the 5. 3l engine recalled.

29 Car Stall problem of the 2005 GMC Yukon

The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.

30 Car Stall problem of the 2009 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/25/2013

Driving at roughly 50 mph. Went to pass car on two lane highway. Accelerator stuck to floor (not stuck on floor mat or other object). Vehicle accelerated to 95 mph, slowed to 70 with brake depressed fully. Slowed to 50 with brake and emergency brake depressed. Accelerated when downshifted into manual. Finally put in neutral and was able to stop. Had complained of rough idle, stalling and reduced power for 3 years (since we had car for only a few months). See some discussion that a dirty throttle body could lead to all of these problems. 3 years with 3 different gm service shops and no solution. Fortunately the road was not crowded and was straight. Obviously, this could have been a fatal problem for us. It was my wife, myself, and our three children under 4 years of age in the vehicle.

31 Car Stall problem of the 2010 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 11/24/2012
