1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2015 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/18/2020

Our 2015 Yukon xl denali caught fire in the engine compartment while waiting at stop light on sat, with my wife and children inside. It was a hot day, over 95 degrees, and we were turning left across traffic when we realized the smell and smoke was coming from our vehicle. Smoke whiffed from under the hood and noxious fumes filled the passenger compartment, scaring me and my family. We finished the turn and immediately pulled over, shutoff the truck, and all escaped fearing it would burst into flames. Whatever was burning appeared to stop once the ignition was off. I opened the driver door, popped and raised the hood to look for the problem. I could see that a belt, behind the serpentine belt, had snapped, and there was charred debris on the exposed mechanical pulley for the ac compressor. After further inspection, I restarted the truck with the ac off, and monitored for smoke. The truck seemed ok to drive home , so we did without ac on a 95 degree day. On Monday we drove the truck to a trusted mechanic for inspection. They diagnosed the compressor seized and estimated repairs were $1,240. The truck is garaged kept, and gently used with only 37,500 miles. We purchased the GMC certified truck in July 2018 from a dealer. I created an account on GMC. Com & looked through warranty coverage. A special coverage had been extended for ac defects, but it lapsed in March, 2020. Looking further; many thousands of gm owners had same problem from same defective ac condenser combi-cooler. I called gm to complain they never told us of about a defective ac system. They said only a gm dealer could diagnose the problem, because they are 'experts'. That same 'expert' dealer had serviced our Yukon 4 times over the past 2 years and never once shared the information about the defective ac system. Gm & dealer colluded to allow warranty to expire.

2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2017 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/30/2018

While parked and running with no driver in the vehicle, the vehicles key fob was locked in the car by a passenger exiting the vehicle. The passenger, a child, exited the vehicle and pushed the "door lock" button and then closed the door, locking it while running with the key fob in the vehicle. No warning alert noise was emitted and the vehicle did not automatically unlock the doors as designed. The weather was approx. 80 degrees. This hazard is not suppose to occur and poses a high risk of causing harm or death to an unsuspecting passenger. The hazard mitigation for this event failed.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2013 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

Live in arizona. Was driving in August 2018 in afternoon vehicle failed to accelerate in intersection. Almost got tboned. Took to GMC dealership. We were so scared as we had our son in the car. Dealership kept for a week kept telling us there was nothing wrong I would not accept this for an answer I told my husband to tell them that we were not going to pick up the car could they please have a manager look at it at that point we also ask them to replace any fluids and do whatever they could to make the vehicle as safe as possible as this is our main vehicle at that point we were given a bulletin that was put out in 2015 stating that this particular car had this issue at temperatures above 110 degrees fahrenheit and when a dealership why GMC did not recall they informed us that it was due to the fact that it only affected a few state that actually get that hot I was furious with this answer I did contact a lawyer but unfortunately it did not fit into the lemon law and so nothing got done I did not know about this reporting method until just now I am in fear again as temperatures are currently heating up in arizona and have made a complaint to GMC which was very hard to do they kept telling me to take it back to dealership what dealership has already told me they cannot fix it that is why they gave me the bulletin there is nothing they can do dmc it's supposed to call dealership on Monday and call me back at this point I really feel like a recall on this vehicle is the safest option for everyone that may own or come into contact with this vehicle on the road I have a copy of the bulletin in my email GMC has stated through internet chat and phone call that they cannot locate this bulletin I do have a copy and would provide it if requested.

4 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 09/05/2015

My wife and I had just purchased a used 2007 GMC Yukon. Little did we know about the major issue the truck has with the reduced power reading that comes up. I really think that GMC needs to put out a recall for these issues. My wife was on her way home from a work meeting and driving on the freeway with her sister and my wife's and my daughter in the GMC Yukon and she was doing the speed limit and all of a sudden she didn't know what was going on. She called me and she was in a panic. She had to pull off the freeway and come to a complete stop and when she did the vehicle had died it turned off and she had our 2 month old daughter with out a/c and in 100 degree weather. This issue puts the people's families at risk that own these vehicles and also other drivers families at risk you can not replace a persons life if its taken away and the hardship it causes but you can replace a vehicle so why not come up with solution so the road may become a little bit of a safer place. When my wife had this happen other drivers were not courteous or understanding when someone puts their hazard lights on that something is wrong, they just kept flying past her. Now with several people having this same issue with the same gm make this issue should be resolved. I have looked up and saw chevy doesn't have this issue and chevy is the same company. If the national highway traffic safety association could create this recall and they could use the same part from chevy then surely this issue would be fixed and it would be a safer vehicle. If you were a company owner wouldn't you want to stand by your companies production and create solutions if there were these common issues? wouldn't you want to help make the road a safer place by one little fix? it wouldn't.

6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2004 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 01/09/2015

Vehicle started fine, then as I was driving in neighborhood engine shut off and I lost all power, could not turn car without steering and crashed into curb up the street, car would not start, had aaa come tow to our home. Had a new battery, and would only take a charge when bypassing battery directly into engine. Now something is draining battery and if I don't start and run every two days , battery dead. Electrical cluster also going bad and instruments not working, air conditioning electrical problem , will blow cold out of all but two vents, where it blows 90 degrees. Back window wiper stopped working, all electrical related. Dealer said no error codes test drove for a week to get to reproduce stall driving, returned to me saying can't diagnose. So frustrating and dangerous.

7 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2004 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/05/2014

Hello over the last two weeks, my truck has had the following intermittent message flash across the dash "reduced engine power" and "stability system disabled", and the truck is limited to 25mph. . This has happened numerous times in traffic, forcing my wife, or myself to have to turn on the hazard lights and pull off the freeway as quickly as possible. After sitting for 5-10 minutes the lights will go off, and the engine will be fine. The described scenario just occurred again today for the 3rd time in one day,, so things appear to degrading rapidly, and I will need to have the system reviewed at the local dealership. . 8 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 05/19/2012

A friend of mine just showed me a letter he got in the mail that is a recall to fix the reduced engine power code that shows a throttle body needs repaired. . The letter says to bring his vehicle in if it is a gm or chevy model less than 10 years old and less than 150000 miles and they will fix it for free. I contacted gm to see if my GMC was on the list and they told me to take it to a dealer and have a diagnostic done. I have already had one done and the codes keep changing, and from what I have read the gm site and other forums gm does not know what the problem and will not recall it unless they have to, my brother is also a mechanic and had it looked over by our college mechanic shop. Still no relief, I am not willing to spend $5000 and it still not fixed. . So I guess since something like it is recalled and I get into an accident because it reduces power on the interstate doing 75mpg, ill can to take legal action? I can't drive it half the time because of the problem. In the summer it starts with reduced power because its 90 degrees outside.

9 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2007 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 02/08/2007

The cooling fan is very loud and stays on for an abnormal amount of time when the car is in park or at a stop while on only when the temperature outside is over 85 degrees. The fan will continue to stay on while driving for 10 to 15 minutes. Sometimes it won't shut off until the car is shut off and then restarted. Had it for repair on several different occasions at GMC and the technician said that is was normal.

10 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2002 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 02/27/2006

Original problem: my 2002 Yukon xl was running poorly when the weather turned cold - below 30 degrees. Problem diagnosed as faulty intake gaskets due to improper design. Second problem: it became hard to start, and a couple of days later, it would not start at all. Problem diagnosed as faulty fuel pump. Both problems are because they were designed for use with ethanol or unleaded gas. I only use unleaded (never have seen a station that sells ethanol). If your gm vehicle has a 5. 3l v8 engine, and the VIN has a z in the 8th position, be aware that this might happen to your vehicle. If not under warranty, it is very costly! the gaskets and the fuel pump alone cost over $630. Labor over $500.

11 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2004 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 07/24/2005

While driving 75 mph on a 102 degree day, my fuel tank was at 1/2 full. The engine stalled and I lost all acceleration, making it dangerous on highway conditions. When I slowed to 20 mph at the side of the road, I lost all power of steering and brakes. I experienced "vapor lock" according to the gm certified technician who evaluated my problem the following day (under a cool engine condition). He found no defects with a cool engine on a 60 degree morning.

12 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 1996 GMC Yukon
