1 Ignition Module problem of the 2005 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/06/2013

My 2005 GMC Yukon xl 1500 will spontaneously shift itself into 4lo. This doesn't only happen at low speeds. It occurs at all speeds when the vehicle is moving and in gear. When it happens, all of the lights on the push-button 4wd control module will light up or flash. No amount of button-pushing will disengage 4 wheel drive. I have also not come across any sort of manual fix, I. E. Turning off the ignition, taking the vehicle out of gear, backing up, etc. This has happened more than 5 times, and has only ceased to happen because I have removed the relay which controls the 4wd system. I am firmly convinced that it is only through sheer blind luck or divine intervention that no one has been injured while operating this vehicle. Let me restate: this issue occurs entirely at random, and not only when just starting off driving. It occurs at speed! when this happens, the vehicle literally can go from travelling at 35 mph to less than 5 mph. Keep in mind that since the brake is not depressed, following drivers have no warning of this rapid decline in speed. I believe that this is a fundamental defect in gm vehicles using this 4 wheel drive system. I think that the only reason the problem is not seen as more widespread is that the issue happens in differently-named makes and models. For instance, my problem may not be readily connected with the same issue in a Chevrolet suburban, although the two are essentially the same vehicle. Further, I believe that gm is aware that this safety hazard is the result of a manufacturing defect and is unwilling to take responsibility for the problem. A simple internet search of "stuck in 4lo" without identifying a manufacturer, brings up almost exclusively gm-built fullsize trucks using the same push-button system. I don't believe that this is mere coincidence. Here is an opportunity for ms. Barra to show that gm owns up to its errors.

2 Ignition Module problem of the 2005 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 08/01/2007

I have had problems with my 2005 denali shifting. I go to stop and then take off and it acts like its slipping and then all of sudden it grabs with a clunk. This has happen at all times of it being driven. I have taken it in to the dealer put unless they can duplicate it then they cant fix it. Well gm will not pay them for warranty work unless. Now it has gotten to the point that it made a loud clunk and then was slipping as you pushed the gas, so right then we took it to the dealer so they could drive it. The transmission tech drove it and look at the trans fluid and it was 1 1/2 qts low. No leaks ever and it has been in to the dealer at least 5 times and 3 in the last 2 1/2 months and the fluids, I hope were good. Tech topped it off and it shifted fine for the weekend. Then the next Monday it started slipping and hardly accelerating again. Took it back in and the tech checked code and it had some torque converter codes. They replaced a wiring harness in the transmission. I work for a couple of days then it started again. We took it back in and the service dept. Called gm and they had them change the ignition sw (module I think). I will post code and exact when I get the info from the dealer. I will see if this fixes it.

3 Ignition Module problem of the 2000 GMC Yukon

My 2000 GMC has had a stalling issue from the day it was delivered. It has been in and out of the shop several times and the dealer has been unable to get it fixed. The dealer has told me they will replace a computer chip by sept. 30, and hopefully it will solve the problem. . I will file a lemon law complaint to have the vehicle repurchased if it is not fixed by sept. 30th. The dealer admits that there are "several" of these Yukons and pickups" that have this stalling problem, however, if they are aware of the problem, they are not making potential customers aware of the problem, perhaps that would hurt "their bottom line"!! also, these Yukons are sold with firestone le tires, by reviewing the NHTSA website and some of the other customer complaints, I see there are several that had the tires blow, maybe there needs to be a check on these tires as well as the ones already recalled . ( dot number: ).

4 Ignition Module problem of the 1997 GMC Yukon

Intermittently while driving, the steering wheel slightly turns either to the left or right. The dealer has replaced the gear box, the steering sensor and the computer module, but the problem still exists. Manufacturer has been notified.
