Vehicle stationary in car wash and while manually using handheld at front of vehicle towards vehicle grill, back of vehicle opened/lifted. Has now happened multiple times and dealer has made no repair, but disconnected exterior sensor at gate (where you kick under vehicle to release gate for lift/open) in effort to eliminate that if instance recurs. Concern is for safety if driving in rain and back opens/lifts while operating on highways/roads. Owner is former sheriff's deputy kn kankakee county.

My lift gate failed to close while at grocery store. It was stuck in raised /open position. Could not close manually. I had to drive home and to GMC service center w/ lift gate raised. There is a GMC recall bulletin on file14300a but my vehicle VIN # is not tagged, inoperable lift gate. I was advised by service manager, my lift gate motor had to be replaced. This is my 3rd chevy/GMC SUV and my first two suburbans had over 250k miles and never had an issue w/ my lift gate. My Yukon has only 114k miles, well taken care of and the lift gate fails me. The existing recall should apply to my repairs, estimate cost $700. 00.

Doors locked with remote. 2nd row passenger door behind drivers door failed to actuate with remote or with door locks. Was able to work with the manual lock on the door from the inside to free the door. Once freed, the door failed to return to the closed position and remained stuck until the key fob was pushed. Repeated the lock with the key fob, door still will not actuate to the open position. Child can unlock as this bypasses the child locks on that door. Child could also get trapped in the car-could not be unlocked without manual agitation of the internal locks. Internet is full of his same issue on the same model vehicle. This is a serious hazzard.

Door lock actuators not operating. 2 of our doors fail to lock or unlock with the power door lock button or key fob. We must manually push or pull the door locks to get them to fully lock or unlock causing a safety issue. Our young kids could open the rear doors at any time if we don't manually lock them. Also doors will not lock leaving the vehicle with the key fob. This issue is all over the internet and there's even a youtube video on how to replace them! this should be a recall.

The rear door will not open and is locked in place. It was a very hot day and I could not get my luggage out of the back of the car because the door would not open and there was no manual switch to unlock the door from the inside.

Basically my lift gate and glass are stuck in the lock position and there is no manual way to open the lift gate. This has to be a safety issue and GMC should issue a recall on the lock actuator to replace them all with a replacement part to ensure no one gets stuck inside there vehicle. This part along with installation can run you up to $1k so I can see people ignoring this problem until it becomes a public concern. I wish GMC would fix it before someone really gets hurt.

Traveling down the highway at 75 mph. All of the sudden the stabilitrak system light went on followed by the truck shuddering and shaking fairly violently followed by the reduced engine power light going on and a very quick reduction in speed to approximately 35-40 mph. Was able to pull over and tried to figure out what had just happened to a perfectly good running car. Attempted to reset the stabilitrak system using the gm manual page 5-6. No luck. Limped back onto the highway with a shaking truck with hazards on and made it to an exit . Went to gas station, turned off car again and filled with gas. Car was off for approximately 10 minutes while I ask for a gm dealership in town. Turned car on and the shaking had stopped and the power appeared to be normal. Went to gm. They hooked up to diagnostic machine . The code that came up was for a throttle position sensor replacement. Was covered under a special coverage adjustment, (12-6-2013) sent out to dealer service departments. Gm knows that this is a problem yet no one informed the drivers of these vehicles. My Yukon denalii xl was fixed . I am reporting this because I was put in a very dangerous position on the highway and high speeds. There is no doubt in my mind that without some good driving on my part and that of the 18 wheelers around me I could have caused an accident and injury. Once again gm knows this is a problem as stated in the #11273b special coverage adjustment- throttle position sensor replacement-December 16,2013. I would highly suggest that gm let car owners know so they can get the part replaced before killing or injuring themselves. I would not like my children or anyone else for that matter have this happen to them at any speed.

Door lock actuators. Three of four door actuators are broken and locks must be controlled manually. GMC wanted 655. 00 to fix the two I knew were broken. GMC is well aware of the thousands of complaints of this defective part. I was not aware the third lock had failed until my son opened a back door and stepped into traffic. I was under the impression his door was locked. All I could do was scream at the top of my lungs in an attempt to keep him from getting hit by traffic. Does it take a death or several deaths before GMC recalls this defective part?!!! this is a serious safety issue when you have a child in the car and should be looked at before an injury of death occur.
Rear hatch will not open. There is no manual way to open. If there was a accident and you needed to exit rear of SUV you would not be able to get out as there is no manual way to open door. It is electronic and has stopped working. Seems to be a common problem in all Yukon's, tahoe's and escalades. There is not even a button from the exterior that you can push to open door. There is no way to open and GMC does not want to fix unless you pay the $100. 00 to look at it then another $500. 00 to fix, I really think this is a safety issue. It is a bad design not having any manual way to open rear hatch on a SUV.
Rear hatch/lift gate has no manual handle to open. When unlocking power locks rear hatch will not open, there is no way to open lift gate from inside or outside of vehicle. If an accident would happen there would be no way out of rear of vehicle. Rear hatch will not open at all, it is all electronic and will not open. This is a common problem for all gm SUV's. Have contacted GMC and they don't seem to about issue.
My 2005 GMC Yukon xl 1500 will spontaneously shift itself into 4lo. This doesn't only happen at low speeds. It occurs at all speeds when the vehicle is moving and in gear. When it happens, all of the lights on the push-button 4wd control module will light up or flash. No amount of button-pushing will disengage 4 wheel drive. I have also not come across any sort of manual fix, I. E. Turning off the ignition, taking the vehicle out of gear, backing up, etc. This has happened more than 5 times, and has only ceased to happen because I have removed the relay which controls the 4wd system. I am firmly convinced that it is only through sheer blind luck or divine intervention that no one has been injured while operating this vehicle. Let me restate: this issue occurs entirely at random, and not only when just starting off driving. It occurs at speed! when this happens, the vehicle literally can go from travelling at 35 mph to less than 5 mph. Keep in mind that since the brake is not depressed, following drivers have no warning of this rapid decline in speed. I believe that this is a fundamental defect in gm vehicles using this 4 wheel drive system. I think that the only reason the problem is not seen as more widespread is that the issue happens in differently-named makes and models. For instance, my problem may not be readily connected with the same issue in a Chevrolet suburban, although the two are essentially the same vehicle. Further, I believe that gm is aware that this safety hazard is the result of a manufacturing defect and is unwilling to take responsibility for the problem. A simple internet search of "stuck in 4lo" without identifying a manufacturer, brings up almost exclusively gm-built fullsize trucks using the same push-button system. I don't believe that this is mere coincidence. Here is an opportunity for ms. Barra to show that gm owns up to its errors.
