The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving approximately between 45-50 on normal road conditions. I bought my Honda Accord this September. It had a rebuilt title due to minor dents and blemishes to the outside. No major wrecks. Looked and seemed in good condition. Dealer assured me that all of his cars were insurance claims due to minor exterior wear. He didn't take any cars that had been involved in wrecks. He was an "engineer" and didn't need to screw people over for money. I had my mechanic inspect it right away because it had a 30 day return policy, no questions asked. My regular mechanic said the engine was fine but there were minor things I needed such as; new rotors, new tires, and something to do with the emergency brake. His secretary said these were all optional things to have fixed. 1 month later. . . The radiator goes bad and must be replaced. My regular mechanic charges me $600. 00 dollars for the procedure. I compare prices and find a better price for the same radiator. Unfortunately, my regular mechanic still charges me $70. 00 for his opinion. I go to the cheaper place, get a new radiator and have my rotors replaced. Since about 2 weeks after owning the car I notice that the srs airbag light flashes on and off randomly. A $80. 00 diagnostic check was performed and nothing showed up. My mechanic didn't notice it when he drove it. I still don't know if my airbags work! a month after that. . Transmission goes bad when in reverse. Makes a terrible grinding of metal sound and lurches when put in reverse. Probably needs a new transmission which I have no way to pay for. Luckily, it is only a problem during the cold and/or when I first start the engine. Im very worried about the safety of my car and myself! because I've had 3 different people assure me the car is in good shape, only to find out about or have a major problem occur. I don't feel safe in my mystery car! I bought a Honda after being a loyal Toyota customer because I thought they had the best reputation for long lasting vehicles. I'm thinking I made a mistake. Please help lessen my worries.

In April 2001, I purchased new Honda Accord ex from its dealer, planethonda in union, NJ. The car had been sore for the last three years. The car was recalled because of faulty transmission. The faulty transmission affected the engine and brakes. Not only, Honda should have replaced the faulty transmission, but also the engine should have been replaced. The faulty transmission made the car run in the low gear, damaged the engine. My car engine is burning more motor oil and I have to add one quart of oil for every 700-800 miles. I also had to replace the brakes, rotor/drum,brake shoe pads every 6-8 months because of faulty transmission. My car has the side air bag and abs lights on since 30000 miles. I went to Honda dealership for routine maintenance on car. The mechanic came out and told me my rear brakes were nearly worn out and needed to be replaced. The car had 20,959 actual miles on these brakes. I had them replaced at my expense even though I felt this was highly unusual. Now my front rotors are giving me problems at 23,000 miles. The car jerks when the brakes are applied at highway speeds. I called Honda. . . . . Was told they hadn't had any problems or complaints, but I see same problem posted on this site.

I purchased a 2000 Honda Accord used in 2003. It had approx 14,000 miles. At 30,000 I had to turn the rotors. I was told it was my driving habits that caused it. I am 54 yrs old and have owned numerous vehicles in my lifetime and have never had to turn rotors until near 60,000. I again was told the rotors were warped at 45,000 and they turned them again. I now have 54,000 miles on the vehicle and the front end is shaking again when I drive and brake normally at 60 miles an hour. I'm going to take the car back to Honda again. If my rotors need replacing then I plan to ask for my parts back so I can show nys dept of motor vehicles and attorney general's office. I have read numerous complaints on Honda brakes and I can't find any technical service bulletin or recalls for my model and year. Unbelievable. I want NHTSA to look into this. I recently got a class action suit letter regarding the transmission - they are extending my warranty 9 months - big deal. The attorneys get rich and if my transmission goes after the extra 9 months then I pay.
Premature brake pad/rotor wear <30,000 miles, causing excessive wheel shimmy which could lead to loss of vehicle control.
I purchased my 2006 Honda Accord in November 2005. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that I have a vibration in the braking system. I contacted the dealership and they had to take the rear rotors off and sand them down. I was perplexed because the vehicle only has 13,000 miles on it. According to Honda standards, that is not even a break in period. I have also had a problem with my alarm system the couple of months I had it, but that problem has been remedied. Since then, I noticed my headlights dim on occasion and I have been informed that this is a "normal characteristic" of the vehicle. It amazes me how sensitive this car is. I thought the situation with the brakes was important to log a complaint. This is my third Honda, and this is the very first time I had to take a Honda to the dealership for other than an usual service. I am not very happy about this. I am at the point where I am thinking about getting rid of the vehicle and it is not a year old yet.

I purchased a new 2006 Accord and took delivery on March 29, 2006 from clinton Honda, clinton, NJ. Within one day after delivery I noticed a thumping sound and vibration from the front of the car during hard braking. I made a service appointment at the earliest available date at the dealership. On Friday, April 7, 2006 the service manager, mr. William wilson, informed me that the front brake rotors were slightly warped and glazed and that Honda would resurface the rotors under warranty. Mr. Wilson informed me that it is Honda policy to resurface brake rotors once under warranty. I asked Honda to replace the front rotors but they have refused. Brand new rotors should not be warped and glazed, this is a serious safety hazard. Honda should not be allowed to sell such a defective car.
I purchased a new 2006 Honda Accord in March 2006 and I experienced a thumping in the brake pedal and made an appointment with the dealer and returned the vehicle where they resurfaced the rotors. I was not happy with a new vehicle having resurfaced rotors so I had the dealer make a notation on my warranty order. Within a week I was experiencing the same problem. I contacted the dealer and they resurfaced them again and I was real unhappy because when I left the dealer the problem was still there. I contacted the service manager who agreed to have the rotors changed which supposedly they did. Well I am starting to experience the same type of thumping when exiting the highway but at a lesser level at this time. I do feel however that Honda may have a problem in this area and would hope they correct it soon as this is a safety issue. I have owned Honda's since 1975 and have never experienced the amount of problem I have had with this Honda as I have on all my other Honda's combined.

I believe the 2001 Honda Accord lx, 4 cyl has problems with the brake system. I bought car new in November 2000 and have changed the rotors 3 times, and the brake pads 5 times. I just had new rotors and pads put on last summer, and when the Honda dealership was checking my car for another problem, they discovered that the new rotors were warped and the pads wore out. I am wondering if the entire braking system is not working properly, which causes the front pads and rotors to wear down prematurely. The back drums have been replaced one time. It seems that for some reason when I use the brakes the front brakes are doing all the work. Nobody can figure out why.
Consumer 2003 Accord brakes pulsate and grind with no warning light of brake problems. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the rotors. 2004 Honda Accord ex v6 : when braking from 50+ mph especially downhill causes the whole car to shudder. The car has 14000 miles on it. Dealer says the rotors are warped and it is my driving pattern. I had other Honda's which never had to have their rotors replaced until 100k miles at least. There is a technical service bulletin for defective brake pad material for 2003's Accords but a lot of 2004/2005 owners are complaining on the message boards (edmunds. Com) as well. This is a major safety issue since you lose car control while braking. Nhtsa should definitely investigate this issue.
I'm leasing my 2003 Honda Accord lx. At 20,000 miles my brakes were pulsating and steering wheel was vibrating when braking at 55mph. Took the car to the dealer to have the rotors re-surfaced. Now at 40,000 miles I'm experiencing the same problem. Honda service says it's the way I'm driving and that if I re-surface rotors again I will continue to have the same problem due to my driving. After doing some research on the internet, I don't think it's my driving but a manufacturers defect. There are many customers who are experiencing this same problem. I don't feel safe driving.

Purchased a certified 2001 Honda Accord v-6 sedan 3. 0 in July 2004 w/ 42,000 miles at 55,000 I needed new rear brakes and rotors. The brake light never came on. Per the dealer the rotors were already turned so, I got new rotors. When I picked up the car from the dealer the car is still making a squeaking sounds as you apply the brake. I took the car back and was informed that there was nothing wrong with the braking system or brakes. To this date the car is still squeaking when I apply the brakes. Also note that when I returned to the dealer several days later the back brakes were already worn 10 percent but the front brakes were still brand new??????? this is a front wheel drive vehicle which 70 percent of the braking is applied in the front and approx 30 percent is applied in the rear so why do I need brakes and rotors in the rear before the front. And the front brakes are still as brand new . . Makes you wonder if the front braking system is working or not?.
At 88,740 miles, the vehicle would vibrate/shake when braking. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop. The mechanic had to turn the front rotors due to excessive wear and being out of round. Now, at the present time with 100. 000 miles of wear the problem has recurred and the front rotors needs to be turned again. The dealer was notified.

The brake rotors wear prematurely without warning. The dealer states the part is under engineered. The cause has yet to be determined. Please provide additional information.
Bought car 12-31-1999. In 2001, significant "warbling"/shaking of steering column when braking, at higher speeds, to the point stopping was becoming precarious. Dealer said rotors had warped, most likely because I hit the brakes hard during wet conditions, getting rotors wet, and causing the warping. Rotors were turned. "pulsing" of brakes started again in near future; dealer said they fixed at no charge when doing routine maintenance. Problem recurred again. Dealer said couldn't turn rotors again, and needed to replace them and pads (July 2004). I complained; mechanic acknowledged when asked directly that he had seen more problems with this year/model of Honda. I paid for replacement. Again, November, 2004 pulsing started. Dealer did break inspection (for $19. 95); it was obvious they were familiar with the issue - they acknowledged the warping was recurring - on the replacement rotor. I disclosed finding other complaints on NHTSA web site; service manager asked if I had talked to Honda - if Honda agreed to cover it, they could do the work. Problem is, cover what? the problem appears to be related to this specific braking system. This car is the 6th Honda my spouse and I have purchased. Unfortunately, it may well be the last.
The brakes grinded, and there was extended stopping distance when braking were used on snow covered roads. Vehicle has been to the dealer on three separated occasions, and they were unable to locate the cause of the problem. Also, dealer advised the consumer to take the vehicle to a dealer in the snow area, and let them inspect the brakes. No inspection was made at this time.

2003 Honda Accord exhibited grinding brake noise when brand new (9-03). Has been in for brake service 6 times. Was told by service manager at cary auto park Honda that Honda was aware of the defective warped rotors and planned to recall them in the fall of 2003. My rotors were replaced with more defective rotors while waiting for the recall that still has yet to happen. On 10-16-04, I had the rotors inspected by an independent mechanic who said that they were most definitely defective. I am experiencing an ever increasing amount of grinding and shuddering when applying the brakes. I want my "lemon" repaired correctly. I purchased a new car with the understanding that it was free of defects and any defects found would be corrected under warranty.
Warped rotors. Brake pads need to be replaced. Brakes have been pulsating since around 15000 miles. I have taken the car to dealership on several occasions. On second occasion they produced a memo which stated that several people complained of the vibration and that it was normal for the rotors to heat up and cool down, but they are not warped. Today they told us that it is due to harsh driving and driving in the canyon. They are telling my husband that brake pads and rotors are not covered past 12,000 miles and Honda does not cover a "wear" item. We currently have 35,000 miles. So far the repair is going to cost 360. 00 with a discount.
When applying brakes there is a growling sound and vibrations. Vehicle has 30,000 miles is under 100,000 mile warranty. Was told by Honda that this model year has soft brake pads and therefore soft rotors. The brakes have 45% wear According to Honda which made the rotor warp. They say not covered under warranty. Have done nothing yet.
When the brake pedal was depressed there was a metal to metal noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealership two days later. The dealership indicated that the rotors needed to be replaced because they couldn't be resurfaced.
Rotors were defective. They had to be serviced at 12,000 miles. Consumer stated he previously owned another Honda and the same problem existed. The material was inferior. Manufacturer was notified.
My 2003 Honda Accord ex needed new rotors and brake pads at 11,000 miles. I do not ride the brake and am rarely (maybe once every 2-3 months) in stop and go traffic. I was charged $350 by my dealer to get this problem fixed. I started to wonder why my car had this problem. After internet research, I am finding out I am not the only one with this problem.
