Driving on a clear road on a clear day with no car in front of me, the brake warning flashed and then the car braked on its own. There was no reason for the warning or for the car to brake on its own. Automatic breaking isn’t even a feature on this car.

I was driving and the skid, brake, abs and steering light came on. I was with my kids so I immediately slowed down and contacted my mechanic. We initially thought it would be a sensor. After hooking it up, it was detected to be the abs brake module. After further research this is a “normal” issue. A new module is expensive $2500 with the dealer and is on back order for 3 months. We have shipped the module to CA (I’m in TN) to get it “repaired”. I have been without a car for 3weeks and still waiting. This is insane and should be recalled. I hope the “repair” fixes the issue.

While I was driving down the road with my foot on the gas pedal, without any notice whatsoever, my brakes began to jitter/shake and my steering wheel got stuck/tight and would not move. At this point, my car immediately makes a complete stop in the middle of the road and warning lamps appear such as; brake system problem, engine light, etc. I immediately turned on my hazard lights so cars behind me would go around me. Luckily, I was close to a curb and tugged on my stiff steering wheel and managed to park my car alongside the curb on the street. I called the Honda dealership and they said my car was unsafe to drive and needed to be repaired. I immediately took my car to the Honda dealership to get repaired. This malfunction could have caused an accident putting myself and others safety at risk as my car made an immediate complete stop on it's own and my steering wheel got stiff/hard to move making it hard to steer. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

I was driving northbound in on i15 in salt lake city when a home depot bucket blew into my lane. I slowed down to change lanes when the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) deployed without warning, bringing my car to an almost stop causing a semi tractor trailer to hit me from behind.

All vehicle assistance lights on such as e-break, vsa, mitigation system, and cruise control show up as faulty. Infotainment system goes off on its own as well. Very bad electrical parking break light always shows up when vehicle starts. Taking it to dealer multiple times they claimed it’s ok.
The vehicle keeps braking automatically with nothing in front of me, I see numerous people reporting it so I figured I should aswell, nothing in front or near me when it automatically brakes, it is scary as heck tho!.
I was driving down us route 42 on 10/4/25 at 1:10 am and my car phantom break itself while I was doing 60 miles an hour on the highway.
Good morning, I have new Honda Accord 2020 which always been taken care of regular services and oil changes etc. This morning I tried to start my car going to work but suddenly all brake related warning signs came off. My card still not starting the engine. I researched online and found out many people who have same Honda facing same issues. So I figured it's better to be reported before someone gets really hurts while on road. Please find attached pictured with this incident report please.
All lights related to tire pressure, sterring control, vehicle stability assist and abs comes up in dash board. The abs control module suddenly fails because of very bad design and manufacturing (just dry solderings!). Search ebay, one can find so many offering services to repair this failed abs control module. For replacement ot costs 3500. This looks like is common failure. Very dangerous to drive with that failed abs control module. Why is this not in a recall yet?.

Abs, traction control, power steering, parking lights go on and off. Abs control module throws code dtc 121-11; vsa solenoid valve malfunction. Been going off and on for a few weeks. No warning before the lights came on. Heard this is a common problem with the early 2010s Honda Accords that needs a recall. Pulled the code from a personal obdii scanner.

Abs module failure on 2013 Honda Accord. Fcw system failure, abs failure, ldw failure along with brake light constantly on, also tire pressure sensor light on. Brakes have a softer feel when compressed. Diagnosed at independent repair shop as failure of the abs module which is a circuit board issue with improperly soldered wire connections, something Honda should cover as the module dealer cost is about $3000 plus labor. Brake sensitivity and possible failure is a major concern and the vehicle is at only 116k miles.
I am writing to report a persistent and dangerous safety defect in my 2014 Honda Accord involving the vsa (vehicle stability assist) / abs / abs modulator / abs ecu system. The abs, vsa, and other warning lights have been on for years, first noticing around 60-70,000 miles indicating an ongoing fault in the system. The dealer has diagnosed a bad abs/vsa modulator and/or ecu and stated this is a common issue and that often this part is on backorder. Most recently, while turning the car, the system locked or mis applied the brakes, causing the car to lose control and spin out. Luckily I did not crash as the car behind me was at a safe distance, but I ended up on the side of the highway in a dangerous situation. The center for auto safety shows multiple complaints for 2014 Accord, including: abs, vsa, traction control, stability control failures; owners say they were told a vsa modulator needs replacing owners report dtc codes like 81?19 (“yaw rate sensor internal circuit malfunction”) and 81?20 (abs cpu internal circuit malfunction) in 2014 Accords. Owners report abs and vsa not functioning, lights all on, and concerns that braking or stability control will fail, especially in poor conditions. Given the large number of similar reports for this model and year, this appears to be a systemic defect in the abs/vsa modulator/ecu system in 2013?to?2017 Honda Accords, including 2014. Because this is a safety system (brakes, stability control), the defect creates a real risk of crash, injury, or death. I request that NHTSA: open a formal investigation into the abs/vsa modulator/ecu failures in 2014 Accords (and related years). Determine whether a recall is needed. Require Honda to provide fixed or replacement units without cost to owners or reimbursment ensure parts are available (I. E. Not back?ordered) and that the repair is effective and safe.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the vehicle’s collision avoidance automatic braking system is malfunctioning. It engages unexpectedly while the vehicle is moving with normal traffic flow. The system is still installed and fully available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the automatic braking system activates suddenly and without cause while I am driving at typical speeds (approximately 40–60 mph) with the flow of traffic. This unexpected braking creates a serious risk of rear-end collisions, both endangering me and putting other drivers at risk of crashing into my vehicle from behind. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I have reported the issue to the dealer, but they have been unable to replicate the problem during their inspections. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? no, the vehicle and its braking system have not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, law enforcement, insurance representatives, or any other third parties. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no warning lights, messages, or other indicators were present before the issue occurred. I purchased the vehicle last month, and the problem with the collision avoidance braking system has been present consistently since then.
I was sitting in my car, and the entire steering and brake system went offline and the car had a bunch of hazard lights on and said to tow to a dealership. I tested the steering, and didn’t feel the wheels turn with the steering wheel, and the brakes went to the floor. When I went to shut off my car, it did the emergency shut-off (press 2xs or hold for 3 seconds). I attempted to restart the car about 4 times that night, and then I let it sit and tried it again 2 more times before having it towed to the dealership. The dealership stated they received the car and everything was suddenly fine and there were no code history, and they could not tell me the issue. Prior to this, the only issue I had was the car braking when no one was in front of me, but no issues with the steering wheel. With the entire brake system and steering system out, it could have caused a serious accident if I was driving at the time, but I was parked.

Left a store on a frontage rd, drove about 1/2 mile , car just breaking out of no where, stoped in the middle of the road, the dash stated breaking malfunction see dealer immidentaly car died, I restatred it , the dash still stated the same , the picture of the car had back lights flashing and the red break sign was on , took it to the nearest dealer and when they started it the warning system had erased. They inspected it, told me that they could not find anything wrong. I just leased it 2wks ago and only have driven it 3 times , not even a hundred miles and this happens. There were no warning signs of any kind . If I would have been approaching the freeway I could have been killed.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while the vehicle was idling, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the abs control module had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 180,000.
Brakes are too small and where out very quickly. I've had 3 sets of breaks done and my car only has 57000 miles.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the abs module failed to work as intended. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the abs control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure, and informed the contact that there was no recall on the VIN for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
While trying to accelerate the car loses power. This has happened many times. The Honda dealership has said the system is on back order and they will call me when it’s available. It’s been months. The “jerks”a few times then the check engine light comes on then the car loses power. The dashboard lights are brake system, emission system, electric power steering, hill assist and acc system problem.

On September 2, 2025 at 1004-1005 est, my car phantom braked, when there was nothing in front of me and this time instead of just flashing brake on the dashboard, it actually breaks itself and threw me into the steering wheel thank god my seatbelt caught me, but it really choked me up. This has happened quite a number of times before, but this is the first time that it breaked when I actually stepped on the brake pedal it break itself myself also. The component is the automatic breaking for the collision impact that keeps phantom breaking on me. It has never been looked at by a dealer or anyone otherwise. The lamp that came on was the break lamp where the rpm are at.
There has been multiple times that when I am driving on the highway doing 60 miles an hour, the dashboard will light up to brake the car when there is nothing in front of the car, no other car no trash nothing. It has done this on slower roads where the speed limit is 40 mph and under but it will actually brake the car and I have had cars behind me when this happens. This keeps happening multiply times a week.
National highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) I am writing to formally submit a safety complaint regarding a serious issue I have encountered with the anti-lock braking system (abs) manifold on my 2013 Honda Accord ex-l. This issue raises significant safety concerns and may warrant investigation for a potential recall. Recently, I experienced a failure in the abs system that resulted in warning lights illuminating on the dashboard. Upon diagnostic inspection, it was confirmed that the abs manifold (also referred to as the abs modulator or hydraulic unit) had malfunctioned. This failure compromised the vehicle’s ability to maintain braking stability during emergency or slippery-road conditions. I understand that abs systems are critical for preventing wheel lockup and maintaining vehicle control during braking. The failure of such a key component can severely increase the risk of a crash, especially under adverse driving conditions. Additional concerns: this appears to be a known issue based on numerous similar complaints reported online by other 2013 - 2017 Honda owners. The cost of repair is substantial, with replacement estimates exceeding $1,500–$2,000. Despite the safety implications, Honda has not issued a recall or technical service bulletin to address this widespread problem. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether this issue represents a systemic safety defect in the 2013 Honda Accord ex-l. The failure of a core safety system such as abs warrants a thorough review to determine whether regulatory action or a manufacturer recall is appropriate. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
The abs is malfunctioning. It comes in and off. When the warning lights are on the abs system is not working. It pops off which means it is working at that time.
Component/system: collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) or related software. Vehicle available for inspection. Safety risk: vehicle brakes or decelerates unexpectedly during normal driving, risking rear-end collisions. Most recent incident on August 23, 2025, required override by pressing accelerator and shifting to neutral in traffic. Reproduction: dealer could not replicate issue during may 16, 2025 visit. No diagnostic codes found. Radar and braking systems reported as “operating normally. ” a second evaluation occurred after September 5, 2025, with no resolution; issue persists. Inspection: inspected by Honda dealership twice—on may 16, 2025 (invoice #488382) and again after September 5, 2025. No third-party inspections. Symptoms: braking occurs in sport, normal, and econ modes. Happens when accelerating from stop or easing off accelerator. Brake light activates falsely. No warning lamps or messages prior to failure. Issue has occurred 10+ times over the past year. Related software issues: radio failure (resolved via software update). Clock shows incorrect time. Apple carplay fails to connect until restart. Navigation compass shows concentric circles.
My car be braking and nothing be in front of me. It detects something in front of me when nothing be there.
Electrical drain in system causing premature battery failure and electrical misfiring that causes the car to shut off and flashing a brake warning message to contact dealer and once this occurs car won’t start until Honda link and hands free pairing are reconnected. Issue is if the misfiring drains the battery, driver is not able to reconnect the cars apps and pair the bluetooth, therefore, car is not will be immobile until battery is recharged.

The car was in cruise control going 73mph on the freeway. I was passing a semi on the left hand side. When I was parallel to the semi, the car brakes hard and a big "brake" light came on the cluster. There were no cars in front of me and luckily no one behind me. If there was a car behind me there would have been a collision. It was a clear day and again the road was clear. It took me from 70 to about 40 mph until I hit the accelerator to get back to speed. The cmbs is faulty and I will take it in to a dealer ASAP.
The collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), which is part of Honda's advanced safety features, slammed on the brakes driving down the road at about 40 mph. When the vehicle slammed the brakes, me and the passenger were jerked forward with seatbelts on. Had a vehicle been behind us traveling it would have slammed into the back of my vehicle causing an accident. I will be contacting the dealer to address this problem as it just happened yesterday 8/3/2025. Although I did read that this complaint is currently under investigation. When the vehile slammed on the breaks, the brake warning light came on right after the brake was slammed and immediately went off.
I have been having problems with many dashboard lights coming on at once. I got it checked out and I got abs code 123 - 11 and code 81 - 20. This has been going on since the beginning of August 2025. This could lead to dangerous malfunctions, and is one of the most expensive things to repair. It is my understanding that many many vehicles between 2013 and 2017 in the Honda range I've been experiencing this to the point of where we need a recall.
Abs lights on, break lights on, steering light on with traction control on while driving, use a scanner and shows code 121-11 vsa solenoid malfunction, I fear of losing my brakes while driving. I have seen that’s a common issue in different forums, something to be worried about.
When driving my car it will phantom break when there is nothing in front of it going down the highway 5060 miles an hour and it’s done at numerous times. I have not been in an accident yet, but it’s something that keeps occurring on my car.
My car has been sending several warnings including: brake system: electric parking brake system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, adaptive cruise control system problem, collision mitigation braking system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, supplemental restraint system problem, and power steering reduction problem. My car is not even 100,000 miles yet. I have had all maintenance done on time and recently had brakes replaced. I have changed my battery and tires twice within the 6 years of owning the car. It seems this is a regular complaint for such low mileage. I was a Toyota person but switched to Honda for their safety performance, and now I am regretting that. I read that this is the turbo needing to be changed. This part should be recalled if it is failing soon. A person who just bought a car should not be paying $4500 in repairs already. I had the fuel pump recall replacement done, and had the brakes done. I am changing the spark plugs and ignition coils next week. Honda needs to do something about this and I am looking to join in the class action suit against them, if they do not correct the issue.
I had been driving down highway and all of a sudden my car put on brakes hard. Thank goodness no one was behind me. I had dealer turn off that feature so it wouldn't happen again. I still experience my brake light flashing when nothing in road to brake for but doesn't brake on its own. Issue having now is issues starting car and once it starts I recieved a collision mediations issue pop-up on display saying see dealer now. Cruise control issue, and on dash has traction control saying ignitionating continue driving. The braking issue started right after purchase in 2018. The starting issue started yesterday 7/25/2025.
