Tl the contact owns a 2015 Honda Accord. The contact stated that there was a constant loss of electrical power with the vehicle. The battery sensor shorted out, causing the contact to have to recharge the battery. The battery had been replaced several times before the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 17v418000 (electrical system). The repair was performed by john eagle Honda of houston (18787 northwest fwy, houston, TX 77065, (281) 955-6666); however, the contact felt that the repair was insufficient. In addition, the service engine indicator was illuminating. The dealer and manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 15v121000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was not available.

3 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/08/2012

2005 Accord 2. 4 liter a/c stopped working. Was told condenser had a hole caused by a rock. Researched and found that numerous owners of Honda products have had the same issue. Honda needs to redesign the lay out and location of the a/c condenser or provide some sort of warranty and protection if they are not going to pay for the repair or replacement of the required parts. With the current design it is a money maker for Honda. Now it is going to cost me hundreds of dollars for the repairs that Honda should be paying for due to their poor design.

4 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/15/2012

Honda issued two (2) tsbs for the air conditioner (a/c): 07-075 (11/02/2007) and 08-046 (07/18/2008) and a/c has never worked properly.

6 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/02/2010

I have a 2009 Honda Accord. I began having problems with the a/c not cooling, so I took to the dealership for assessment. I was informed that a line was not working and I had a freon leak. They placed dye in the fluid to determine where the leak originated. They determined it was coming from the condenser. This part is located in the grill of the car and isn't protected in any way and they decided it had been damaged, without proof, from something I had hit, such as a rock. They then inform me that my full warranty does not cover it, and informed me it would cost $432. 00 to repair. They also cannot guarantee that it will not occur again and again. The freon continues to leak and will not cool the car. It also causes a foul smell to come into the car. I do not believe consumers should be responsible for paying to replace a part that is put in a place that is vulnerable to debris or anything, without protecting it in some way.

7 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/01/2010

2009 Honda Accord coupe with a/c problem. A/c blows dangerously hot air while at a stop. The air continues to blow hot air until you start driving again. The temperatures quickly rises to unknown temperature but it feels like we are in a sweat box. May pose threat to health due to extended periods of extreme heat. The vehicle has been to a local Honda dealer six times now since may 2010. Many hoses have been reported to have leaks, condensor reported to be bad, compressor reported bad, clutch reported bad, low freon reported, pipes reported to be bad and seals on pipes and hoses reported leaking. It is suspected that the dealer and Honda manufacture has not found a solution. Both parties are in communication with one another with no results thus far. The dealer has now had the vehicle for two working weeks as of 10-22-2010 with no explanation to what the problem is. The dealer has replicated the a/c blowing hot air numerous times. Overall, since may 2010, the dealer has had possession of the vehicle for approx. 30 days during the six dealer visits and repairs. Online research may show extensive a/c problems with many of the Honda models. Further evaluation is requested as hot blowing a/c air pose a health threat especially in a warm climate such as florida's summer.

8 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/12/2010

My wife went to turn on the ac last week and found that it was blowing hot air. Took the car to the dealership to get it fixed and was informed that the a/c condenser damaged from rock chip. I was speechless to find that such damage was not covered under warranty due to a design flaw with the front bumper, there was no screen/grill protecting the condenser. Design flaw I say and they should honor the warranty. Vehicle had 31,326 miles on it.

9 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/02/2010

Went to turn on my ac last weekend and found that it was blowing hot. Took the car to the dealership to get it fixed and was informed that the problem was with the ac condenser. Was told that in all likelihood a stone had been picked up from the road and done the damage to the condenser. Was dismayed to find that such damage was not covered under warranty despite it coming from a possible design flaw with the car.

10 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2006 Honda Accord

11 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1997 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/22/2010

Honda recommends replacing timing belt, balancer belt and water pump at 7 years or 105,000 miles on the 1997 Honda Accord. I had the dealer replace them all at 7 years and 36,139 miles, in 2004. The replacement water pump failed prematurely in just over five years and 39,618 miles later. Earlier this year I kept seeing coolant under the car. I had the dealer install new belts and a new water pump. The new pump failed right out of the box spilling coolant on the new belts. So, the dealer removed the new belts, installed another new water pump and then reinstalled the same belts. I don't know how this will affect to the longevity of the new belts. Also, my main concern is that the timing belt is driving the water pump, and the whole assembly is hidden under a cover. If the water pumps starts failing, hot coolant will spill on the timing and the balancer belts causing them to weaken over time, and they can either slip or break causing catastrophic engine failure and an accident. . 12 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/01/2009

I had just bought a 2010 Honda Accord which I had purchase in October 20 09, 3 weeks old approximately. I get in my vehicle to turn the air condition on November 1 and found out that it only blew out hot air. I take it to the local Honda dealer, they stated a pebble or foreign object got up to the condenser and punctured it which made it unable to function. The cost of repair is about 600 dollars. For Honda to be number one for good value with there cars it is not apparent now. I purchased the extended warranty and it is not covered due to road debris not manufacture malfunction. This problem seems to consistent with a lot of their vehicles not only do I have make monthly payments on this car now I am paying for it to be repair when it is not even a month old.

13 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/05/2009

Air conditioning stopped working after 12000 miles. Dealer determined that ac condenser had a hole from a impact. Told that this is not a covered repair.

14 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2006 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/01/2009

A/c in my 2006 Honda Accord se I had purchased only 2 weeks prior was coming out as water vapor and stopped working altogether. Took it to the dealership and they ran a diagnostic and said a rock or pebble must've hit the compressor, and that this type of repair is not covered under my bumper to bumper wrap warranty. It cost $100 for the diagnostic alone, and would be an additional $550 for the actual repair. Absolutely outrageous for a car I had less than a month!.

15 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/21/2009

Ac condenser on Honda Accord ex v6 was hit by "road debris" and is not covered by warranty. Frequent complaints about this happening with many types of Hondas built before 2008. Honda refused to assist with repair cost of a new ac condenser, approx. $900.

16 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/15/2009

A/c blowing hot air, took to dealer, told that a rock or some debris hit the condenser and caused a leak, told repair not covered by warranty due to road hazard, like a windshield getting cracked, estimated $650 to replace condenser. Only had car for 1 yr, 18800 miles.

17 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1998 Honda Accord

18 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/09/2009

I have a 2000 Honda Accord se. In March I had to have my engine replaced because it overheated. It was not the heads and the mechanic could not figure out what caused it after examining the car for a month. Now my transmission is going. The engine cost me $2,000 and the transmission is estimated parts and labor at $3800. They need to extend the transmission warranty from 7 years 9 months to 10 years. My car only has 88,000 mile and has been maintained well.

19 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2006 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/09/2009

2006 Honda Accord we bought brand new 2. 5 years ago. 55,000 miles and the a/c condenser needs to be replaced for $800 due to a puncture from a rock. Not covered under Honda warranties, not considered "normal wear and tear" even though you can read numerous complaints on the internet regards the same problem.

20 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/12/2008

While driving a/c quit working. Took to Honda for warranty since car was less than a year old for repair. The said that their was a hole in the condenser from a rock and that warranty would not cover it. Estimate for repair was $620+tax.

21 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/29/2008

My case is very similar to odi id number: 10251868. I was driving on the freeway. The engine overheated and it was found that the upper radiator hose burst. Engine oil leaked into the cooling system also. The Honda dealer torn down the engine, and did a series of inspections, leak down test, and pressure test. No visible sign of a blown head gasket. No signs of warping and/or cracks on the cylinder head. The service manager said it is probably due to a very porous cylinder head. The most likely cause for the engine overheating is as follows: the porous cylinder head allowed engine oil to leak into the cooling system. The oil deteriorated the rubber gasket on the thermostat. (this was indicated by fresh engine oil residue found on the damaged rubber gasket of the original thermostat. ) the deteriorated rubber gasket blocked the flow of the coolant. Without enough flow rate to cool down the system, the coolant boiled inside the hoses. Pressure built up, and the upper radiator hose burst. Coolant leaked out from the damaged hose, and the engine overheated. This is the first time the car has this problem. It has no major problems before. I completed all necessary maintenance on time According to the owner's manual. All major maintenance services were performed by the dealer. To correct the failure, the dealer recommended replacing the whole cylinder head, but the total repair cost for it, including changing the oil-contaminated hoses and others, cost more than $4200. It's just too expensive. All the old parts (damaged hoses, thermostat, etc) are available. Fyi, if it helps any investigations, this car is still torn apart at the dealer as of today.

22 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/05/2008

I have a 2008 Honda Accord lx. When air conditioner compressor cycles the lights dim and then go back to normal as if you were flashing your headlights. Took to dealer and I was told Honda is aware of the problem but has no plans of a fix. Also the transmission has a whine at slow speed. I took service manager for test drive. He kept the car over night and gave me a rental he acknowledged both problems and answer was the same for both. ???????????????.

23 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/15/2008

The contact owns a 2002 Honda Accord. The contact did not notice any failures with the vehicle prior to the failure. She took the vehicle to a Nissan dealer for a routine tune-up and was informed that oil was leaking in the cooling system. The mechanic flushed the cooling system and the contact drove to her residence. A few days later, she wanted a second opinion and drove to a Honda dealer. The mechanic stated that there was a crack in the head gasket. The vehicle has not been repaired and the manufacturer has not been notified. The contact has supporting documents to confirm the failure. The current mileage was 90,000 and failure mileage was 85,000.

24 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/16/2008

I purchased my 2008 Honda Accord in January of 2008. August 2008, my air stopped working. I took the car to Honda dealership and they advised me that a rock or a pebble hit the condenser and that it is causing the freon to leak out. I took the car to another mechanic they advised me that Honda is jerking my chain because that is not the case. I told the people at Honda, that there is nothing protecting the condenser from the debris, it is poorly designed on that aspect. I told them that I am very disappointed, they would not try to resolve this issue with me at all. They are expecting me to cover the cost for this issue.

25 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/04/2008

A/c condenser in Honda Accord 2007 damaged by pebbles in freeway. My Honda Accord lx sedan a/c was not working after 16000 miles. Took it to dealer and he said it is from pebble from road or from other cars damaged the a/c condenser. What kind of vehicle design is that allows pebbles to allow it to hit cars internal part and damage it. Honda dealer as well as customer service asks to claim file to insurance. Why should I pay $500 deductible for car which is not designed to protect it sensitive parts . !! I had my baby in car while driving through the summer at July , and if a/c is not working , due to Honda's inability to act on genuine complaints, what reliability does these cars have?.

26 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2004 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/13/2008

The contact owns a 2004 Honda Accord. While performing a routine oil change, the mechanic spotted dried up antifreeze in the corner of the engine, where no fluid should be located. He advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The dealer stated that there was a pinhole crack in the engine that was allowing antifreeze to slip out. It has not yet been determined what the repair will be, but the manufacturer is already refusing to repair the vehicle. The contact believes that a recall should be issued. The current and failure mileages were 32,000.

27 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/06/2008

This is the 2nd time I have had to replace the condenser in my vehicle due to an item being projected from the road up into my condenser due there being no guard to cover it up. The first time it was a piece of tire from a semi, this time it was a rock. I think my 2005 Accord is a great car, but this is ridiculously expensive! I have to pick up my car tonight and drop another $800 to get it repaired. Something should be done to warn people.

28 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/23/2008

The air conditioning suddenly stopped working. When brought to the service center they informed me a rock had broken the condenser. After researching this problem online I discovered it was relatively common in 2003-present Accords, in fact some owners reported this happening multiple times. I also found several individuals that said Honda replaced the part at no cost. When I informed my service center (criswell Honda of germantown, maryland) of what I had found they told me they would not cover the cost of repair. In fact it is going to cost me over $700 due to the labor required in getting to the part (removing the front bumper). Even once I get the condenser replaced there is no guarantee this will not happen again. The problem is caused by poor design, there is absolutely nothing protecting the condenser from any type of road debris.

29 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/24/2008

Condenser failure-2003 Honda Accord- my wife just informed me the other day the a/c wasn't working. I checked out the relay and it's just fine so I searched on the internet to see if others have had the same issue and came across several postings about the condenser and road debris. Well after looking at the front of the car directly at the condenser I could see that it was pretty well haggard from rocks and other crap. I did notice an area to the upper left side that was wet from a leak, more than likely it is freon. Judging by the mass-open holes in the plastic beneath the bumper, it is no wonder that is was damaged! Honda has a major design flaw going on here and we are all suffering the consequences. This is b. S. That we are stuck footing the bill for a car that is supposed to be the most reliable car on the road.

30 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/20/2008

Ac quit working and took it to dealer. They said that a "pristine" pebble had destroyed the condenser, and that it was not a mechanical error so it was not covered under the warranty. I believe that the number of complaints reported of similar occurrences proves that it is a mechanical error due to poor engineering. Of the placement of the ac condenser. There are huge openings beneath the front bumper that let road debris & rocks in without any protection. The ac condenser is "right there" with a screen or anything to protect it. Besides the ac not working and Honda owners having to shell out 700-800 to get the condenser replaced, the initial impact by a rock to the condenser empties the freon out into the atmosphere!.

31 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1997 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/05/2008

1997 Honda Accord vehicle with a leaking and corroded radiator. Consumer states the radiator was replaced in 2008 and now it is leaking again. There is corrosion on the back and front of the radiator. The thermostat was stuck open and had to be replaced as well.

32 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2006 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/08/2007

I noticed my air conditioner in my 2006 Honda Accord was not blowing cold air and I made an appointmentwith a Honda dealer on 8/13/07 and was told road debris punctured my a/c condenser and was not covered under the warranty. The grill design allows road debris to come into air conditioner.

33 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/13/2007

I have a 2005 Honda Accord with fairly low mileage. The a/c stopped working so I brought it to a Honda dealer while it was still under warranty. They found that there is a pinhole in the condenser and will not fix the problem because it was due to a road hazard. I feel this is a design flaw. The condenser is located 18 inches above the ground and there is not protection for it at all. It is common for a car to hit small pebbles at this location and there should be some sort of protection. I am stuck with a fairly new car and a $700 bill to fix a design flaw!!.

34 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2006 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/01/2007

2006 Honda Accord - a/c condenser broke twice due to road debris, told not covered under warranty and was a rare occurrence - however I see several other people reporting the same problem. Without ac windows fog up on rainy humid days and visibility is impaired. Total design flaw on behalf of Honda and they should recall the item.

35 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/30/2007

Have had throttle body replaced under manufacturers warranty at approx. 15,000 miles. Car loses power while driving and this could be extremely dangerous if on high way. Several times this has happened to me where a/c system shuts down and blows hot and vehicle cuts power and I nearly was rear -ended as I had to pull over at speed on freeway. Honda does not accept problem but by threatening legal action was able to have them "fix' the system so it won't recur. Am however very dis-satisfied with Honda's clear denial of this issue which one day will cause multiple deaths if no recall is issued as they don't acknowledge issue and find a solution.
